Chapter 1918: Guardian of a Lost Civilization!

Upon hearing the voice, Wang Chong came to a sudden stop, his mind shivering .
“A human?”
Wang Chong had had many ideas about what he would encounter in the well, including various kinds of monsters . But he had not imagined that the guardian of this place would be a human, or at least a creature that could speak a human tongue .
From the difficulty with which it had spoken the words, it was clear that it had been sealed in here for a very long time .
‘Mark’… What is it talking about?
Wang Chong pensively frowned . Although it had been rather sudden, Wang Chong quickly understood what was going on .
This ancient ruin probably has some identification that allows one to enter . Khatabah probably had this identification, allowing him to enter without coming under these attacks .
But Wang Chong was incapable of presenting this identification .
Let alone the fact that Wang Chong didn’t even know what it looked like, Khatabah had blown himself to pieces . Even if that identification had existed before, it didn’t exist now .
But Wang Chong didn’t spend too much time thinking . Even without the identification, he still needed to explore these ruins .
A moment later, Wang Chong raised his wariness, readying his Stellar Energy so that he could respond at any time, and began to head down .
The deeper he went, the hotter it became .
“Human, leave!” After some time, that warning voice spoke again, but Wang Chong did not notice that creature’s figure below .
“Am I almost at the end?”
Wang Chong quickly understood .
A dangerous energy filled the air, and the danger was increasing with every passing moment . But Wang Chong continued to descend the wall of the well .
A few moments later, the well began to slowly transform, the pillar-like space slowly expanding outward into a pyramidal shape .
Buzz!
As Wang Chong carefully examined his surroundings, he sensed a faint vibration in the air . At this moment, a sharp blade began to slice toward him at astonishing speed .
Boom!
Wang Chong immediately raised the golden Xuanyuan Sword, barely blocking the strike .
But before Wang Chong could counterattack, his opponent was gone .
Swish!
With no time for rest, that blade returned, but this time, it came from above and behind Wang Chong, slicing straight at his neck .

Bang!
A golden beam of Sword Qi flashed through the air as Wang Chong used the Xuanyuan Sword to strike that blade and repulse it .
A cry of alarm could be heard, but once more, before Wang Chong could counter, the opponent vanished .
“So fast!”
Wang Chong’s heart sank . He was doing his utmost to keep track of his foe, but this monster was so uncatchable that it seemed like it didn’t have a physical body .
That movement technique is at least twice as fast as my Greater Void Step! Wang Chong quietly said to himself .
The Greater Void Step was an art that Wang Chong had learned from the men in black and was the fastest movement technique he knew . When used to its maximum, it was impossible to see the user with the naked eye .
But his opponent was moving even faster than the Greater Void Step . He had never encountered this kind of situation before .
This alone allowed his foe to pose an enormous threat .
But even so, Wang Chong did not give up . He continued to descend while baiting the attacks of this unknown creature .
Hiss!
As expected, his enemy was apparently enraged by Wang Chong’s continued descent . Hissing bizarrely, it intensified its attacks against Wang Chong .
The air shrieked as that thin blade sliced through the air and unleashed a barrage of blows against Wang Chong .
Bang!
Front, back, left, right, up, down—its position was constantly shifting, each time attacking from a completely unexpected angle that had no relation to the previous one .
The attacks were fast, vicious, and accurate . They were all aimed at Wang Chong’s vital points, and when they sliced toward him, they seemed ordinary and unremarkable . It was only when they were about to impact that they erupted with horrifying strength that shook the very fabric of space .
In the face of these bizarre attacks, Wang Chong was forced completely on the defensive .
“Found it!”
After some time, Wang Chong’s eyes flashed . Through the ‘True World’, he had finally found his opponent .
Bang!
Gripping the Xuanyuan Sword, Wang Chong used the Greater Void Step to fiercely slash at his opponent just when his foe was slicing at his neck .
Rumble!
There was a thunderous boom as Wang Chong’s immense attack succeeded in forcing his foe out into the open .
It was a humanoid creature with pale skin and empty eye sockets . It wore a tattered black robe, and in its hand was a massive scythe that was nearly two meters long .
This scythe was so sharp that just looking at it seemed to slice apart one’s gaze .
The attacks Wang Chong had been facing had all come from this large scythe .
Boom! Wang Chong immediately unleashed a destructive torrent of energy from the Xuanyuan Sword, which smashed into the bizarre human-shaped creature like a comet and slammed it into the ground below .
Wang Chong had been using the True World ability this entire time, but his opponent’s attacks had been simply too erratic to pin down, completely defying the normal conventions of martial artists .
It was only after Wang Chong had identified the traits and cycle of his opponent’s attacks that he finally chose to abruptly strike and defeat his foe .
This time, Wang Chong held nothing back and immediately shot toward the bottom .
A fiery light assailed him, and he could see crimson flows of lava around him .
There were chunks of rock protruding from the lava flows, like small mountains, and on a dark brown rock, Wang Chong found the bizarre humanoid creature .
Wang Chong drifted down like a leaf, and at this moment, the creature began to move .
Its body trembled twice, and then it got up off the ground and blinked away . As Wang Chong landed, it roared and shot off toward another sharp rock .
Wang Chong simply landed on the ground and did not pursue .
“What is this thing? Its physical features are not similar to the Arabs, and its skin is ghastly white as if it hasn’t seen the sun in ages . Was it a guardian for that lost civilization? But how could anything live that long?” Wang Chong muttered to himself, very interested in this bizarre creature .
“Invader, die!”
At this moment, the human-shaped monster gave a strangled roar, hunching its body and beginning to radiate hostility .
Wang Chong smiled, completely unpanicked .
After fighting with it, Wang Chong had gradually begun to understand that the monster wasn’t very smart . It only knew a few simple words like ‘die’ or ‘mark’… It was like these words had been imprinted on its mind .
Wang Chong had also noticed something else strange . The monster’s life energy was extremely weak, almost the same as an insect’s . It was basically a corpse .
Despite the monster’s formidable hostility, Wang Chong didn’t take it seriously . He had grasped its methods of attack and movement, so it could no longer threaten him .
Buzz!
Wang Chong took two steps forward, but then he suddenly sensed something and stopped, grimacing .
Around Wang Chong, several hundred feet away, four identical human-shaped creatures had emerged, snarling as they gripped their large scythes and slowly approached him .
Bzzz! In front of Wang Chong, black mist began to seep out of the injured monster, wrapping around its entire body . A moment later, the monster became as indistinct as a shadow to Wang Chong’s senses .
The same transformation occurred with the other monsters .
Splash! Hiss! The lava around him became restless, and a few seconds later, massive fire snakes reminiscent of the fire men appeared at the feet of the five human-shaped monsters .
Hisss!
One of the fire snakes opened its mouth and spat out a gout of golden flame that caused black smoke to rise from the ground .
Wang Chong’s heart shivered . He could tell that the golden flame was at least seven thousand degrees, hot enough to hurt even an expert like Wang Chong!
The five bizarre human-shaped monsters and these fire snakes immediately made the bottom of the well into a dangerous trap .
“Wang Chong, how is it?” A voice came from above .
But it made Wang Chong grimace . It was Gao Xianzhi’s voice . There was no doubt that Gao Xianzhi and the others had no longer been able to restrain themselves after his long period of silence and had decided to come down .
Wang Chong had the ‘True World’ ability and the Greater Void Step, and he was also at the Subtle realm, so there was nothing he needed to fear . But the same could not be said for Gao Xianzhi and the others . They would probably sustain heavy injuries upon first contact with these human-shaped monsters, which could even affect their conquest of Arabia .

Borne of Desire
A man given a new lease on life finds himself amongst pokemon. From his memories of pokemon as a whole, he assumes the power of pokemon and the world around him runs on convenient fate, rule of cool, and cheesy friendship just like any other anime. Unfortunately for everyone else, he's 100% right. NOTE: If Borne of Caution is an attempt at a coherent and realistic look at pokemon, then, Borne of Desire is the opposite. It's all the mindless indulgence I DONT want in a serious story. It's a very seat-of-my-pants for-fun project and is written with no storyboard. Updates will be inconsistent and quality cannot be assured. Not to be taken too seriously.

The Heretic Legion
Cover Art: Undead Master by Changling Assassin. Located at: http://fav.me/dbm60ex Used under license Creative Commons attribution non-commercial 3.0 per bottom right of the linked page. Summary: Just the story of a necromancer and his eventual army. Currently, the only major thing of note is a pretty fleshed out magic system. No set list of spells or specific incantations. Just rules similar to the laws of physics, within those laws you can do whatever is possible. Updates: I work Sunday thru Wednesday and updates tend to revolve around my scheduled days off. Currently, I release content as I feel it's ready for release because that's what I myself would prefer from an author. Warnings: This story is graphic. blood/necromancy magic that requires self-harm to use. explicit descriptions of sexuality. (though fairly tame outside of the marked chapters, at least compared to said chapters) and is generally darker in tone. If you're concerned you might start to read only to be turned off by these elements. See 7. Teetering on the Edge for an example of the graphic nature of violence or 9. Explicit Content for a fairly self-contained example of the most explicit of the sexual content.

Oracle by Default
Oracles are known as divine handouts passed down from the Holy Creator. There are times when evil exist and the Holy Creator wishes to intervene, to which the title of the Oracle is bestowed upon an individual to become the Creator's will in physical form. The Oracle's mission is to then gather heroes from different races to purge the evil. “For the reckoning that is to come, all are tested. Thou shall be the shadow of which valiant souls shine and guide thee through harsh trials. Till oblivion comes, do not turn astray but to continue down the path thou chosen to walk. Lastly, thou must not see eye to eye with, but against the world.” A mysterious man engraved a seal onto Kihet before saving him from being consumed by the flames. The seal seems to have a strong connection with the legends of the Oracle and a Tower with no entrance that suddenly sprouted near the village. Throughout years, his efforts to study the strange tower remained fruitless. Then one day, the village decided it was time for his friends and him to become envoys to look for the potential evil the Holy Creator detected. Before Kihet can set off on his journey alongside his friends, he has his own set of problems to overcome against the village. Note: It's slow. There is romance, but it plays a small role that I don’t know if I should add it in the tags. Main story starts at Chapter 12. Chapters before do contain meaningful context for the rest of story.

After their fateful misadventure in the mountainous Norther Reaches of RUNDAO, a dark new threat to all of RUNDAO has been revealed to the mercenary band of THE CREEPING BAM and their newest member, half-orc bandit SHAYLINE SWIFT-KILL. Returning their hard-won cargo to THE SILVER ORDER in their city stronghold in BAVAT, they find their well-deserved rest will have to rest – half-elf wizard GAEL FOXTAIL’s father has disappeared while performing an investigation in the coastal city of UNTERMER, and it’s up to our motley crew to find him. As a son of Untermer, wily bakaneko thief ART OF SHADOWS is the perfect choice to lead the way, but he has ghosts of his own to face as their investigation brings them into the orbit of the THIEVES GUILD. But there are daker forces at work here, and as they uncover a dark conspiracy and form an uneasy alliance with a trio of tough sellswords with their own stake in the game, led by dwarven warrior THELGAEWYNN FROSTFORGE, the Creeping Bam begin to suspect this may be connected to that unfinished business they started back up north … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
