《Life Isn't So Simple Anymore.》Chapter 90: I'm A Little Hungry...

Zoey felt like it was her birthday or something with all this free experience rushing toward her. While she was surprised, there was no sense of danger at the small army mindlessly coming at her. Maybe the gas was affecting her. She only had two fists after all!
“Combo Volume I: Combo Time!” Zoey chanted her spell as she prepared for the boss battle.

Little Imp fled to the corner of the room watching in silence while invisible. He didn’t quite know what to think looking at the scary human below. While his heart didn’t stir in fear for her, it certainly did thump furiously once she began tearing through the waves of daemons below. Those daemonic gloves happily gouged and feasted on the blood and flesh of the intoxicated daemons below. Despite the horrific bloodshed taking place right in front of him, the only thing Little Imp could focus on was the terrifying grin on the human’s face.
This was something she craved. It was what fulfilled her as a being. Even as teeth and claws sometimes made their way to her body, carving and slashing her, her momentum didn’t slow in the slightest. Little Imp didn’t know specifically which part of this disgusting process was what excited her but he knew he didn’t share a single similarity with her. All he could see and feel was horror. At this point, Little Imp finally understood why his boss had to rely on this human if they needed to escape. She was a genuine monster.
The winged daemon also seemed to have noticed this. As Zoey was tearing through her enslaved minions without caring about the amount of blood she shed, the female daemon was subtly distancing herself from the battle more and more. Little Imp wasn’t aware if Zoey noticed this but he wasn’t flying anywhere near that death tornado below. Blood, organs, limbs, and heads flew all across the room.
“Hey! I already killed you, get off me already!” A bodiless daemon’s head was latched onto Zoey’s side before being smashed into a blood-splattering pulp.
“Come on! I want a fight, not a hugfest!” More and more daemons started to rush at Zoey, piling on her.
They didn’t bother to avoid fatal or lethal blows but take them and cover her body. The mastermind behind the lemming-like daemons took this opportunity to flee from the classroom, shatter the window in the hall and fly away. Little Imp didn’t stop her. It was more accurate to say that he couldn’t stop her even if he tried. If he did, he’d probably be affected just like those daemons below and soon murdered by that monster in human skin below.

“Zoey. It's over.”
Zoey’s instinctive reaction was to duck down below to avoid the attack coming from the voice behind her, twisting her body, and throw a punch in the direction of the voice. Only for her to realize it was flying in the air. With thoughts of gaining experience and bloodlust still radiating from her body, she prepared herself to leap into the air as far and fast as she could.
“Stop! Stop! It’s me! Little Imp!” Little Imp revealed himself.
Zoey couldn’t halt all her built of mahna and momentum leaning forward. She fell quite embarrassingly on the ground, covering herself in even more daemon blood and guts. Unfortunately, her mouth was open as she screamed while falling and tasted what daemon innards tasted like. Was it bad if she thought it didn’t taste horrible?
A sniff escaped from her nose, she wanted to cry. All this training and practicing she’s done so far and she can’t even hold her balance! Zoey was still awkward like before! She held in her tears as her cursed gloves dragged her body around to consume the magji shards and corpses of the deceased daemons around her.
‘Thank God only this guy saw me...’ Zoey would’ve felt like curling up and dying if the person that saw her wasn’t a daemon.
“It’s going to be okay... We all fall sometimes...” Little Imp tried to comfort her. He’s never fallen because he has wings but it felt like the right thing to say.
HE TRIED TO COMFORT HER!!! Zoey actually released a few tears at this as her face heated up. She looked so fucking stupid! After a victorious battle like that, she should look like a complete badass and an unstoppable magjistar prodigy, not a fucking awkward loser!

‘Ah. Now it makes sense. There’s something wrong with her brain.’ Little Imp finally understood.
The horrifying death abomination that could only produce the end of lives a few moments ago was now this... There was no other explanation he could think of besides there being something wrong with her brain. So, Little Imp silently waited till she got herself together and her daemonic gloves finished strengthening themselves. He would have to report to his boss about her damaged mind later. Right now, he still had a role to play.

“I found this on our way here. Will this cheer you up?” Little Imp’s cute high-pitched voice sounded in front of her.
In his hand was a small bronze bell radiating with mahna. He flicked it with his clawed hand toward the wall and it gently chimed. A few seconds later, a small portion of the wall cracked. Both Zoey and Little Imp’s eyes widened in shock. Zoey grabbed the bell, surged her mahna into it, and watched as it grew in size. Now it was around the size of her head, how much damage would it do if she punched it?
“I didn’t realize it was dangerous...” Little Imp was really glad he didn’t aim the bell in Zoey’s direction...
“I wonder how dangerous it could be...” Zoey went out into the hallway of the East Wing with a small smile on her face.
She raised the bell by the handle before tossing it into the air. Zoey quickly got into a proper stance before throwing a light jab. The lightest jab she could that probably couldn’t even knock out a normal human fighter. Her fist impacted against the bell and once it made contact, it stopped falling and hovered in the air.
It only took a few seconds before mayhem and destruction followed. The walls, floors, corpses, and roof were all blown apart as the magji soundwaves traveled down the hallway. Zoey grabbed the bell, forced it to shrink, placed it in her pocket, and ran the hell away hoping she didn’t just accidentally fucking kill someone. Little Imp flew behind her before turning invisible.
“Amazing but it's too powerful! Too strong! Or wait. Did I put too much mahna in it or was my lightest punch really that strong?” Zoey wondered while wondering.
“Probably the first one... I barely put any mahna in it when I flicked it.” Little Imp answered.
‘I wonder how the effects would change if I used Twisting Force with it or Overdraft!’ Zoey curiously wondered. ‘Maybe if the big boss behind this shows up with his army of evil daemons, I could try it.’
Zoey jumped up and broke the roof above her, leading into a hallway on the floor above. She jumped up through the hole and found herself face to face with a group of magjistars hiding in a corner on their knees. They covered their mouths as they looked at her in fear and shock. Ah, she was still covered in daemon blood, wasn’t she? But what were they hiding from? Whatever it was should’ve come at the sound of her busting up the floor, right?
“You’d be right but fear is what I love the most...” A disgusting voice licked at her ear.
It wasn’t Zoey’s fault that her instincts reacted violently when she was surprised in combat situations. The fact that her elbow caved in the gross daemon’s face was his fault! Who told him that sneaking up on teenage girls was a thing that was okay?! She didn’t even get the chance to realize that he somehow read her thoughts before he was killed.
“Fire Beast Volume I: Hell Tiger!” One of the magjistars shouted after she hit it.
A tiger made entirely of flames rushed forward at the downed daemon, horrifically mauling it to death on the orders of its creator. Zoey stepped back a little bit like the smell of burned flesh flowed into her nose. Strangely enough, smelling a little bit delicious and not at all as disgusting as she thought. What the hell was going on with her? There’s no way humans could eat daemons like they eat humans, otherwise, magjistars would’ve been doing it already!
Zoey chalked it up to say that maybe that gas got to her brain more than she thought. Abnormal Conditions wasn’t the all-cure to everything just yet. If it turned out that she actually started to crave daemons, wouldn’t she turn into some sort of human-daemon hybrid or something? Wait, can daemons and humans fuck and make babies?
‘Okay, now probably isn’t the time to be thinking this stuff.’ Zoey thought. “Hey...” She greeted the group of 5.

Disclaimer: I'll leave this on here for anyone to read. The last time I uploaded a chapter was nearly a year ago, and to all the readers who still kept their trust in me after I came back from my umpteenth hiatus, I am sorry. I will not carry on writing this; I started off without the correct foundations of a novel, nor commitment to fully finish it and I do not want to lie to you all once again. Maybe one day, I may decide to re-write the novel, with a new basis or at least a comprehensive starting point with many of the narrative errors cleared up; but, till then, this is goodbye. And, once again, thank you for the motivation you gave me. Even now, I see many emails come through with people commenting. Goodbye. A child blessed by the Astral. An unprecedented destiny. Watch his path, as he marches up the stairway of Heaven. A March of a Sovereign. [Adventure, Wuxia, Martial Arts, Fantasy] This is a Qihuan novel; it has eastern and western fantasy elements. More often than not in Xianxia or Xuanhuan there is a severe lack of character development, being a western writer I'm changing that. My characters, from my totally unbiased view, feel fleshed out and actually have emotions. This is my first attempt at a novel, I'm writing as a means to better convey my thoughts. I will, hopefully, steadily improve chapter-by-chapter. I'm very open to feedback and constructive criticism. As one can see this is a cultivation novel, so you know how this goes. I've decided to jump-start the whole rags-to-riches scenario. He is strong from the start and is given the utility to do so. *The cover art is not my own, all rights reserved to the owner. I will take it down if necessary. *The style of the recent chapters is comparatively different than Chapter 1.

Cutting to Life: an NPC LitRPG (Battle Royale)
Nikola is an NPC in The World of Wills, a video game where players can feel sensations as if they were truly there. She leads a life of bloodshed and murder - that is, until one day she wakes up sapient. Just as she begins thinking real, non-scripted thoughts and making connections, she and the players in the game are told that if they die in the game, they die in real life - and it's time to get killing. But what of Nikola, the emerging AI consciousness? How does she win in a game that can only end in her being wiped from existence at the end of it all? - Updates Mondays and Fridays. Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead. It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them. The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever? - This story is told in third person, past tense.- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.- Book cover by Vixeona.Cutting to Life is also being posted on SPB and Scribble Hub.Thank you sincerely for reading.
