Magic, it seemed, was a constant presence in this world. Different, from life on earth, that meant we would all soon have our mana-reservoirs restored for the first time. Likely, within a day, depending on our individual stats.
That night, I watched the counter, as it slowly ticked up. One number at a time.
78… 79…
Laying alone on a bed of feather and cloth in the room I'd been guided to, I couldn't sleep.
This was all too strange.
There were others still awake, I knew. Out in the hall we'd all be placed, many were mingling. Some, for conversation- asking one another questions of idle curiosity. Others were mingled, for... well, other things, I imagined.
Shut away in my room, though, none of these were reasons for why I couldn't sleep.

This is a pillow made of silk. It is expensive.
[Identify]
Feather Blanket
This is a blanket of fine cloth, filled with feathers.
[Identify]
Glowstone Lamp
This is a light source.
I had questions. A lot of questions, in fact. Each one was tied together nicely with a big red bow of worry or concern in regards to my well-being. Or, the rest of the people who'd been drawn here for... what?
Defeating the demon lord?
It felt ridiculous. In fact, were it not for the actuality of the events actually putting me here, in a castle, in what appeared to be a different world, I'd be confident it was ridiculous. Yet, as it was, I couldn't be sure. For all the questions on how things worked, what I was doing here, or how I'd get home: I only really knew that I didn't like that this all felt like a very elaborate kidnapping.

What had I even being doing, directly before this? I thought I’d been commuting… but for some reason it was difficult to remember.
Did time travel the same, here? If so, I was almost entirely certain I'd be missed at work soon-enough. By tomorrow, I might be fired for a no call, no show. Then, what? If I ever got home, to find my credit shot for unpaid bills, no job, no car... Did any of this really matter, now? Was there even a way to return?
We were supposed to defeat the Demon Lord, but no one had specifically explained that, or said we could go home after.
It bothered me. I liked to know those type of details, but I had no method to obtain them. So instead, there I was: getting answers from the only thing I could.
[Identify]
Bed Frame
Well-crafted frame of wood. Expensive quality.
I'd managed to make the skill rank up, once. Immediately, as it turned out. From that, tethered with the information we’d been informed of so far, I knew there was clearly a power in the concept of using the abilities. To see a permanent improvement in an ability- even something like this, which only provided information, could be critical in the long run. Perhaps, not in defeating a Demon Lord: I had my doubts I'd ever identify anything to death, but in keeping me alive…
Maybe.
Still, I'd been working at this for awhile now, and finding that the rank wasn't quite as a simple to improve as I'd hoped.
[Identify]
Steel Sword
Sturdy weapon with no enchantments. Intended for both slashing and stabbing attacks.
[Identify]
Leather Scabbard
Scabbard of wood and leather, inexpensive.
[Skill - Rank up] - [Identify - Lvl 3]
"Finally." I mumbled, before putting the sword down next to me on the bed.
Laying back down, eyes on the ceiling, I watched the mana counter continue.
81… 82…
Tomorrow… tomorrow was going to be a big day.
One way or another.

Out of Foxes to Give
When you’re reincarnated as Naruto Uzumaki you do one of two things: cheer because you remember the story and are able to abuse your future knowledge, or realize that you’re in a world where they train child soldiers who throw fireballs and explosions around like candy and reasonably freak out. In a sense you’re either screwed or screwed but you know why. I didn’t really read Naruto when I was a kid. However, had I known that it would be useful in death, I would have! And I’m certainly regretting it now! ———————————— A definite AU for Naruto. I’m going to remove some parts and add some others for the sake of plot holes(so if something doesn't seem quite right it's probably intended... maybe), but I’ll try to stick to as close to how the Naruto-verse works. Also, say goodbye to canon! Also, disclaimer, I do not own Naruto as that belongs solely to Kishimoto. I do, however, own this story. The Supernormal
In a world where fantasy has become everyday, one man stands against absurdity. The local Tower stomps through the streets. Any hedge could contain a witch. Walls regularly crumble, though none more often than the fourth. In the magical city of Blackpool, all ridiculousness is possible, and it takes everything for Jack Of All Trades to survive. Badly, at that. Perpetually late with his rent, he'll take up arms for any paying customer in order to fulfill his quest. His obstacles include polka-loving ghosts, card-game playing vampires, and the most vicious monsters of all: copyright lawyers. When he's joined by an arrogant magus and an insecure vampire, his life gets even more complicated, but no matter what kind of infuriating choose-your-own-adventure he finds himself on, one constant remains—his rent is due at the end of the month. On second thoughts, maybe he should stay in bed. The Supernormal isn't your average web-novel. It's an urban fantasy parody that saunters through a world full of the absurd, delighting in poking fun at popular media, widely-accepted ideas, and often itself. Story arcs only loosely connect through the characters, who are themselves slowly fleshed out as the story continues. Think of Discworld meets The Dresden Files meets Gintama. This novel won't be for everyone, but if it is for you, you're in for a hell of a ride.
