From The Chicago Tribune:
EXPLOSIONS AT THE WATER TOWER PLACE
Thousands of shoppers were calmly evacuated from the Water Tower Place downtown moments before a series of explosions knocked out the power in the building and decimated two floors of the Macy’s department store.
Authorities are insisting that it was the cause of a combination of electrical and gas lines malfunctioning, but would not comment on the presence of SWAT officers or how they had the presence of mind to evacuate the building beforehand.
Several witnesses state they saw something in the air above the shopping center, but couldn’t identify what it was due to the power being out.
The Water Tower Place will remain closed for repairs for the next week at least, a spokesman for the shopping center said.
From Al-Jazeera:
NON-NUCLEAR EXPLOSIONS SPOTTED ACROSS RUSSIAN COUNTRYSIDE
Several enormous explosions have been sighted outside multiple cities and towns in the countryside.
The explosions were seen as domes of light from miles away and even by commercial airliners. The explosions, which occurred very early Tuesday morning, were originally suspected to be nuclear detonations similar to that in Belarus. Reports from local military and other government and international sources have confirmed a complete lack of nuclear fallout, however. Photos also show an absence of the tell-tale mushroom clouds, leading many to wonder just what could cause such huge explosions.
Photos emerging from the sights of the detonations show circular blast areas over 2 kilometers in diameter and craters over 30 meters deep. Large swathes of forest around the craters have been demolished, but so far, there has been no reported damage to populated areas, property, or any casualties.
UPDATE: This report contained an error implying only nuclear bombs create mushroom clouds, while any sufficiently large explosion will cause such a cloud to form.

BIZARRE DISTURBANCE IN CAPE TOWN RESULTS IN MASSIVE PROPERTY DAMAGES, DOZENS INJURED
Tuesday night in Cape Town saw what can only be described as a surreal and violent disturbance: numerous videos and photos have surfaced online of what appears to be two people and a small pack of unidentified animals engaged in a battle with a garbage dumpster.
An unidentified man and woman in strange clothing appeared just outside the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront at around 9:30 PM, along with a pack of animals that were described by witnesses as following the man. When asked what the animals were, descriptions varied. Video is mostly blurry, but shows 4-7 animals of different sizes and species, though what those species might be remains unclear.
A series of explosions and fire commenced as the strange group began to attack a moving garbage dumpster that ran around the waterfront and injured several bystanders. Locals say the man, woman, and animals protected them and that the garbage dumpster was clearly hostile.
At this point, many speculate that this may be some kind of extreme ARG (Alternate Reality Game), or marketing ploy for a film. If that is the case, several of those injured in the attack have claimed they will be suing whoever is responsible.
From Al-Ahram (Translated from Arabic):
DAMAGE TO GREAT PYRAMID IS “CATASTROPHIC”
For thousands of years, the Giza Pyramid Complex has been a world-famous symbol of culture and the once great power and ingenuity of Egypt.
Last night, they were the site of an attack or possibly a very dangerous act of vandalism.
Early Tuesday night, an explosion was seen and heard for miles as it detonated along the side of the Pyramid of Khufu. Rays of light and multiple other explosions were witnessed by tourists and authorities as the area was evacuated. Several people were injured, but no fatalities were reported at the time of printing.

The damage to the Giza Pyramid Complex, and to Khufu in particular has been categorized as “catastrophic and irreparable,” by local experts.
It is still unclear what caused the explosions and who or what is responsible for the act, but investigations are ongoing. For now, the world-famous tourism site has been closed until further notice.

The Empty Valley Cries Unheard
The stories can be read at any order. Phew, this story was finally finished at last! What could I say, it was a hell of a ride when I wrote it from the beginning to end. Thanks for having me on RR :D All the current chapter had already done a run on Grammarly, so hopefully it'd be more readable. ...kinda feeling lazy so calling off the edits for now. A couple of old / new attempts of combining Horror, Comedy and Absurdist elements. I'm not very good at writing Horror stories but I'd like to try once in a while. Although the first chapter may be completely screwed up, believe me--I mostly write fluffy gay scenes between two girls. It would PROBABLY become a lot lighter as we moved up the chapter count. Not for the faint of heart, but if you're like me who like some absurd or nonsensical stories, this might be right up your alley. Sorry in advance if some of the chapters seem normal lol additional tags : nonsense / absurd / parody

In Pursuit of Glory
I felt a huge physical force slam into my back. I didn't have any time to think as I rocketed into the wall and felt the drywall dent beneath my body. Eyes wide, I groaned and began to push off the wall when, unceasingly relentless, my assailant backstabbed me with a knife to my gut. I gasped; being stabbed there is no laughing matter. Even today, with all the advances of science, a wound like that can easily be mortal. Most likely would be. I gasped for air with a snarl, funneling the wind into my lungs to help them expand after being pancaked into the wall. Nobody f***ing backstabs me and gets away with it. If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love being alive. I love it more than anything else. It’s something only a dead person can understand, and I feel myself forgetting all the time. But there’s a secret to death, and I keep it with me. Always. It’s never permanent, it’s never peaceful, and it’s always filled with regrets. But death, despite all of its shortfalls, can give a short respite from life, like a comfy afternoon nap. Death is Respite. It’s a rest for the weary. And to all those people who wander in death lonesome and regretting their broken lives - always, without fail, cut too short - I beg them to take advantage of it. I tell everyone to take advantage of death, even when I can’t bring myself to do so. --- Ciaran travels the world in pursuit of Glories, unfathomable, power-bestowing balls of golden light sequestered in difficult-to-reach places. A fun fantasy romp with a character with an unorthodox narrative voice trying to find his purpose in the world.

The Five Series - redemption
Book 1 - Redemption Three generations have passed since the last near-apocalyptic war. Civilization is beginning to thrive again at an ever increasing pace. The burden of society has been once again placed on the back of a massive robotic workforce, creating a huge divide between industrial glory, and those forced to live in its shadow. Many have stubbornly held onto the old ways of self-governance from back when the government fell, but with its return, life in Welan City is changing. Aaron, a middle-aged man, who is stuck in the rut of daily life, witnesses a murder and finds himself in trouble, love, and the middle of a highly secretive robotics project. Aaron stakes his life on helping a prototype survive, and pays for it dearly. Passionate hate, love, and indifference send life in Welan City spiraling out of control, leaving no one innocent in the end. The Five Series is, well, a series. I've completed 3 of the books so far and will finish with a fourth, maybe fifth book. Book 1 is heavy on the character development side while the following will be much more decision and consequence oriented. This story reaches into the soul of a person and the universe we live in. Some people deserve a second chance, and some do not. With that im mind, no one really ever gets what they deserve though, do they? Always tell the people you care about that you love them as often as you can, they could be gone tomorrow. Would that change if you could always bring them back? I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it. Cody

Zara has lived most of her life with the threat of death hanging over her head, though it never averted her heightening curiosity about magic, nor the abilities innate within her.
