2035 Global warming accelerates suddenly. DayNight becomes the preferred escape from a troubled world. Additionally, communication through DayNight is quantum encrypted, allowing it to emerge as a new kind of social and communications hub.

2038 First Warming War- Limited exchange of nuclear weapons (Seoul, LA, Lahore, Delhi are among the cities hit). Some global cooling results over the next decade.

2040 First nano self-assembly prototype. First genetic carbon sequestration developed. Early global engineering efforts ineffective

2040-2050 DayNight weathers first generational transition from competing augmented-reality worlds, helped by the need for people to shelter in place. It becomes the inescapable 'Facebook' of its time (though with significantly better privacy). Children practically grow up in its fantasy world as it becomes school for millions. The great stories of the age are told there. The fantasy trappings are downplayed, almost relegated to the side.

2050 Nanotech/microtech becomes early-mature tech. Used for medical purposes, life extension, military purposes. Henry Choi patents certain nano-machine techniques, becomes multi-billionaire over several years.

2053 Early nano/neuro interface. Massive demand leads to many competing companies, Gabriel Wilson (Choi) pioneers internal micro-scale nano-assembled interface.

2053 Choi and Wilson meet, find many synergies.

2054 "Hard" vegetation, plants genetically engineered for improved carbon sequestration, found in wild. Parties responsible unknown.

2055 Global warming back in full swing, massive food and water shortages globally

2056 Atticus Chao born. Near collapse of open and democratic societies.

2057 Engineered biological plagues fought with nanobugs.

2058 First weaponized self-replicating nanobugs developed.

Early stages similar to many competitors, but Henry’s discovery of the properties of crystals incorporating certain rare earth elements allows for rapid progress.

2065 Second Warming War begins, globally distributed with many factions. Large number of first world cities destroyed. Extends global winter.

2066 Hardened vegetation survives where many other plants do not. Gene vectors spreading in the wild. Mass extinction of plants and animals, especially above 45 parallel. Cooling and warming factors swinging wildly.

2067 Tao Systems moves to Brazil equatorial region, establishes dome communities, redundant facilities, launch systems.

2067 Cool year. Space structures repurposed for further experimentation with self-replication and construction methods.

2068 Methane and carbon released from die off lead to massive global temp surge. Climate wobbling off its axis.

2069 Tao systems Gabriel Choi starts working on a Human brain based AI system (GUA, Global Unification Authority) that is modular and expandable. Purpose is to coordinate massive prediction/modeling/action matrices based in current space facilities, and ultimately form the basis for world government. Repurposes Tao system elements.

2070 Northern Powers begin wars of conquest, seizing southern/equatorial lands as theirs become uninhabitable. Much infighting.
