《Colossus' Dream》(11) Abode.

POV Narrator:
It's barely dawn as Zohn wakes from his slumber. Inside, the cold morning air bites at his skin. As the sun steadily rises over the horizon, Zohn steps out of his wooden house. A cloud of vapour rising with each of his warm breaths, highlighting the cold temperature of the Colossus' shoulder. Zohn steadily makes his way towards the Colossus’ head, navigating the hilly terrain and trying his best not to slip on the green moss below his feet.
The Colossus, still deep in thought, doesn't notice Zohn's arrival. “Up here, I can determine everything’s actual size. The Colossus’s shoulders are each fifty meters in length and twenty meters in width. My house is roughly located near the end of his shoulder, over 40 meters away from its head.” Zohn observes while studying the terrain around him. Trying not to seem rude, Zohn waits for the Colossus to notice his arrival.
“Seems like I have no choice but to shout, else I'll be waiting here all day,” Zohn decides after waiting over ten minutes without any results. “Hello big guy, can you hear me?!” Zohn shouts at the oblivious Colossus, who's still in deep thought. “What?!” the Colossus yelps, caught off guard. The shock from Zohn suddenly disturbing his deep contemplative state causes the Colossus to jerk his body sideways. While turning, he momentarily forgets about Zohn’s presence on his shoulder.
The unexpected movement sends Zohn flying off of the Colossus’ shoulder, from over a hundred meters in the air towards the ocean next to him. “What the hell!” Zohn shouts from the water below, drawing the attention of the startled Colossus. “Oh, I forgot about you, my apologies!” the Colossus quickly apologises to Zohn who's floating in the ocean. The Colossus carefully scoops Zohn out of the water and gently places him down on his shoulder.

Lying down on the Colossus’ shoulder, Zohn shivers from his unexpected swim. A hundred-meter drop combined with the freezing water bruised his old body. His only solace is the soft moss under him, providing some cushioning from the hard granite rock.
Zohn slowly stands up, bewildering the apologetic Colossus. As he unsteadily gets to his feet, he looks over to his house only to notice its sudden absence. “Where is my house?!” Zohn shouts at the Colossus, a hint of anger in his voice.
POV Colossus:
He’s furious. How can I make this right? Should I look for his house and try to calm him down, maybe that'll help. Honestly, it's a minor miracle the structure even stayed up there, nothing was keeping it in place. Looking around, I spot Zohn’s house. On the ground, next to my left foot, it lays shattered. Well, this isn’t good.
It's my fault, I’ll take responsibility and build him a new house. He’s my travelling companion and deserves the best. I'll build him a proper house, one that's not made from some puny wood. The place where his old house stood and the pond next to it is a prime location. I'll design him a proper abode, so please don't be angry. By controlling the granite in my shoulder, I begin to weave the stone to my will.
POV Zohn:
I loved that house, and now it’s gone; what a tragedy. I can only stare at the Colossus' worry-filled face and sigh, what a cruel way to start a morning. He seems genuinely concerned, I thought he wouldn't care. Let's see what he does, maybe I initially misjudged him. The Colossus is starring at my house’s previous location, I wonder what he’s planning. Following his gaze to where my house’s previous stood, the unbreakable granite around it begins to change shape.

The granite is being moulded like clay as if some invisible hand was controlling it. Layer by layer, the granite climbs higher in all directions. The foundation of a house, no, a small fort, gradually appeared from the rock. Next, the walls were starting to form. As the house nears completion, I notice a trench forming around the structure; it’s probably where the materials came from.
After an hour of being completely locked in place by amazement, the house finally finishes. A moat surrounds the building, fifteen meters in width and thirty meters in length. The pond transitions into a moat, like a small river surrounding my house. Walls over twenty meters in height surrounded the house, and the building itself looks like a small city mansion with ten separate rooms. Everything is made from pure, white granite and the whole structure occupies over half of the Colossus' shoulder.
Did he build this for me? He's kinder than I imagined. I never asked him to replace my house and goes ahead and builds me a palace. No one has ever done anything for me before, I've always been on my own. He might be a bit strange, but I find it endearing. Being friends couldn't hurt.
POV Narrator:
The small, white granite fort located on the Colossus’s shoulder looks almost divine with its pure white colour. “Do you like it?” the Colossus nervously asks, hoping this will appease Zohn’s anger. The Colossus wants Zohn to like him. Zohn is his first friend and his only companion and this meant much more to the Colossus than Zohn realizes.
“It looks amazing!” Zohn shouts in disbelieve, a wide smile on his face. The gesture deeply moving him and chipping away at his senile old heart. “Your old things are still down below.” The Colossus happily adds, elated that he could make Zohn smile. “We've only just met, but I believe we've got a grand future ahead of us!” Zohn says in excitement.
The Colossus lowers Zohn to the ground, providing him time to collect his belongings. Throughout the day, Zohn gradually moves everything between the houses. When the night descends, and everything’s finally in place, Zohn returns to his old spot next to the Colossus, ready to continue their conversation.

Author's Rant
Just a disclaimer, this is not and never will be a story. I just, noticed I have a bad habit of wanting to rant in my author's notes, and have decided that, instead of accidentally doubling the length of each chapter with the author's note alone, I will shove those long-ass rants here. It might contain spoilers for my stories, as I usually wind up ranting about different parts I'm writing. So, if you actually enjoy my rants...well, firstly, what is wrong with you? Secondly, welcome! Time to figure out what tags to stick on this. Also, as of the second chapter, I have decided to shove some of my story ideas here. So if you enjoy half-baked, unfinished stories, then I got those too. I think that adds that short story tag?
