《Colossus' Dream》(40) Eye.

POV Narrator:
For a whole week, desolate winds ravage the landscape. Its might, seemingly endless. The previous war-torn earth is unrecognisable. Nothing lives on this forsaken land, except for one seemingly untouched place. Peaking out of the landscape, a lone figure stands against the mighty winds. His body may be half-buried, but his spirit isn’t.
With his head turned towards the forest on his back, the Colossus whispers, “Don’t worry Jeffery, I’ll protect you.”. “Did you say something?” Zohn asks as he rests in his house. “It’s none of your concern,” the Colossus quickly rebukes, suddenly switching his gaze away from the tree.
Inside his home, Zohn sits with his eyes closed, slowly absorbing the Colossus’ elemental essence. “My power has grown considerably this past year. Maybe I can finally help Col to fight this storm?” Zohn murmurs to himself, slowly opening his wrinkled eyes. Standing up, he peer out into the stormy winds. A deep frown carves itself into his brow and for a mere second a thought flashes through his mind, “could this be where our journey ends?”.
Up high, the Colossus narrows his eyes. “Is this wind trying to bury me?” The Colossus muses. “If this tempest believes it’s powerful enough, then it’s sorely mistaken. I’ve been buried time and time again, and I won’t allow myself to be entombed once more!” The Colossus proclaims in its heart.
The Colossus is determined. “Zohn, stay in your house. I’m going to pull myself out of the ground,” the Colossus warns with a hardened expression. Just before moving, the Colossus stops itself, his head turning towards the forest on his back. “Jeffery, hold on tight,” the Colossus commands, his eyes growing resolute.
“Gmm,” a groan leeks from the Colossus’ throat as he moves. The desolate landscape cracks and breaks apart. The ravine widens further. Step by step, the Colossus’ excavates himself out of the ground. His large body, akin to that of a titan’s, steadily rises further and further to the sky. Meter by meter, the Colossus climbs, unperturbed by the wind battering his granite body.

With a final push, the Colossus breaks free. His body sways unstable, struggling to maintain his balance. The Colossus face flashes with determination, unwilling to give up. “For Ages, I’ve been forced underground; buried by layers upon layers of earth, but today will be different!” The Colossus swears.
Zohn, seeing the Colossus stabilise, exits his home and walks towards the Colossus’ head. As he reaches the shoulder, he stands to consider his surroundings. “Col, for a thousand years I’ve practised endlessly for a day when I could finally help you. Now that such a day has arrived, I’ll stand here, and we’ll face this enemy together.” Zohn says, his expression beaming determination as he looks towards the colossus.
A smile forms on the Colossus’ face, his eyes meeting Zohn’s. “Old friend, today we shall make our stand. Gather your power and follow my lead.”. The Colossus prepares to gather his power. In the middle of a raging hurricane, two companions stand foot to shoulder, both exuding an aura of absolute determination. Their powers flow out endlessly, gathering together in front of them, forming something never seen before. A new phenomenon.
In the air, the elemental essence fluctuate. This is the combination of their powers; the elemental essence that Zohn has cultivated for a thousand years, and the elemental essence that the Colossus has evolved to radiate. Steadily, their powers combine, growing stronger at an exponential rate; the Colossus’ power forming the base and Zohn augments it.
As their powers gather, it takes shape, forming a small elemental stream similar to those from the elemental plane, but not nearly as powerful. With a width of a mere five meters and length of a hundred meters, it pails in comparison to the Colossus’. “What an adorable stream.” The Colossus says, momentarily losing his concentration.

“Will this be enough?” Zohn asks, his eyes observing the adorably small stream. “We have no other choice.” The Colossus replies, his gaze still fixed on the small stream. Against the relentless winds, towering high into the clouds, this small stream seems inconsequential; like a small ant facing a man’s boot, hopeless in its purpose.
For a moment the Colossus hesitates, as he stares at the elemental essence stream, but it passes as fast as it came. With a resolute heart, the Colossus commands the stream forward. Like a tiny ribbon fluttering in the wind, the stream snakes forward, hurrying towards the hurricane. “Will this be enough?” the Colossus wonders in his heart. “It has to be!” The Colossus proclaims, his heart growing firmer with this decision.
Steadily, the small stream slithers closer and closer, unaffected by the raging winds. The seconds tick by, each moment seems longer than the last. The stream quietly nears the storm’s eye. Just as it reaches the epicentre, it disappears without a trace. “Did our efforts fail!?” Zohn asks, his heart filled with shock. A grim expression lingers on the Colossus’ face as he stares into the heart of the storm. Suddenly, a grin escapes from him, “Not quite.”.
Without warning, the storm explodes. Its former might disappearing without a trace. “Streamy did alright.” The Colossus says emotionally, his giant eyes threatening to cry, “He was too young.”. “We won!” Zohn shouts, wondering what has gotten into Col as he studies the Colossus’ tearful expression.
“Zohn, our victory was tough. We lost a close friend, but we won. Now, we can stand tall and continue our journey.” The Colossus strikes a victorious pose. As the Colossus prepares to take his first step, he abruptly stops, and a loud moan escapes from his mithril throat, “Not this again!”.

Ghostified City
‘Ghostified City’ is a post-dystopian sci-fi tale, set in a fading world that might be a future version of ours, running out on autopilot into oblivion. Adaman Yimmand is a simple robofactory operator in The City who's working with robots and machines every day. He doesn’t even realise that he might not have met another actual human being in years. Everything begins when he breaks his routine for once and enters a bar where he meets Evelith. This pesky other person does not let him go after he has had his -rather terrible- beer, because according to her actual humans are much rarer than he’s aware of. And from then on ‘the genie is out of the bottle and won’t get back in’, to use her words: Adaman meets more people, and gradually he has no choice but to accept that the reality of The City is not what he always thought it was, and to face the darkness of a fading humanity on the brink of self-inflicted extinction. Is there any hope left for him, and for his species? I have selected 'sexual content' and 'traumatising content' to be on the safe side, because there is a stripclub-like venue in the background of the story, and an almost-extinct humanity that has institutionalised suicide which might be disturbing to some. Apart from that it's not really a heavy 'adult' story.('Ghostified City' is my first long story in English as opposed to my native language Dutch, and an earlier version was published on my fiction blog 'Oranderra' until I stopped updating. This is a slightly altered version of the first series.)
