Origin of the "gods" ;

They are supposed to be a highly advanced alien race. They possess unknown levels of technology, but among the highly probale are: immortal life (genetic manipulation - [TO CONFIRM]), body manipulation (Neural switching, Mind transfer - [TO CONFIRM]), and advanced scientific knowledge of the inner working of the fabric of the universe (Faster than light travel, Dimensional crossing - [TO CONFIRM]).

Some of them (it is supposed a population or society is behind them) work as "administrators" in the different worlds they are "stationed" at. With an apparent strict non-interference policy, they have to watch over the different populations they are given, with the only real guideline being to prevent said world's complete annihilation [TO CONFIRM].

Motivations ;

While the true reasons behind their administrative work is unknown, they have shown to be interested in the neural networks (neuronal brain pattern imprints at the moment of death), social interactions and societal dynamics of the beings present on the worlds they administer. It is supposed that they could be using worlds for purposes such as research material, general entertainment, or even touristic destinations for their general population (if they are proven to have one).

General behavior and comportment ;

Even if they must adhere to very strict non-personal-interference guidelines, most "gods" are free to do what they want with their given population as long as they respect the rules, or find ways to work around them. And even though they are highly intelligent and technologically more advanced than any known race, they have shown very basic behavioral patterns in their governance.

Some of them exhibit deep megalomania and disregard for life, bordering on psychosis, while others show deep responsibility and attention for the people in their care. However most are distant and act only on whims, or when taken by a particular interest in a situation, given historical records provided by the encountered sample.

Their personalities are unique and varied. As such, extreme caution should be taken when engaging in a conversation with one, as a careless remark could trigger disastrous reactions from him/her/it depending on their background. Showing reverence to the power they possess is something most of them like and should be adopted in the presence of one unless told otherwise.

Hierarchical structure ;

While each race will get a personal "God" attached to them, they are often assisted by a varied range of minor ones, representing each a moral concept or idea. Examples range from Justice, War, Wisdom, Death, Nature, etc. to even basic elements such as Light, Fire, Earth, etc. However it often happens that the "God" of a chosen race will assume some, if not multiples of these secondary roles himself if they suit his personality or general dogma.

They do answer to an unknown higher authority which dictates, and enforces, the rules and guidelines they are bound to. These supposed "God Sovereigns" are thought to be the highest on the pyramid of power.
