《Ideascape: An Adventure LitRPG》Prologue: Plotting in the Background (without maniacal laughter)

Luna was feeling very tired. She didn’t have a body, at least in the traditional sense, but the madness that H.G. was propagating was starting to drive her up a wall. She was only collating the power of pure thought here, it’s not like it’s hard, nooo…
Luna was a small orb of light, floating in a seemingly endless black expanse. Scattered around her were mountains of books, magazines, comics, movies, and video games, extending as far as the eyes could see into the black. This was Luna’s home, for now, and would be until the main directive was complete.
H.G was working her to the bone. He was sourcing new ideas for their little change coming up, or the ‘System’ as he called it, and he kept grabbing new sources of information. Luna had been working in the dreamscape with him for 35 years, and if there was one thing she knew for certain at this point, it was that H.G. was a huge freaking nerd. No one should spend three months straight without sleep, food, or rest playing World of Warcraft. No one. To be fair, no one else even could besides H.G. and perhaps herself, but that was how life was when you were a being made of thought.
It was getting really close to go time. Luna was starting to get really concerned about the wellbeing of the human race. Would this change kill everyone? Would they blame her? Though, if there was one thing Luna had learned about humans in the 35 years she spent on earth, it was that they were really adaptable. They would bounce back from this. Luna made sure that within the system were ways to make them stronger. The ‘Identify’ function was a gift directly from her. H.G. wanted everyone to figure things out at their own pace, but Luna took a stand at that, and thankfully H.G. relented. Until the wish was fulfilled, Luna was little more than a slave, and H.G. had figured that out a long time ago. He was clever in the most aggravating way.

That annoying wish. Howard knew it would cause mass destruction, death, and chaos, but he has always been more interested in excitement than in the continued health of the human race. Well, Luna supposed that they wouldn't entirely be the human race in a bit.
A very light ‘ting’ sound echoed through the strange chamber.
That dreaded noise.
Was it really time? Only 35 years had passed since the start. The original projections put it at almost three centuries. Quickly checking if her fears were correct, she realized that the one thing she hadn’t accounted for was humans' rampant desire for escape into fantasy. There was so much fiction, and the internet and video games only exacerbated the problem. It's too bad that same desire is going to freaking kill people.
H.G. had already chosen a starting location. Luna shifted her awareness to try and check out the place. It was Austin, Texas. What a place to start an apocalypse. Well, Luna was happy that at least they’d be armed.
H.G. approached her from the black expanse. “Luna, is it finally ready?”
Yes, it is. Are you really sure about this? I have no desire to be complicit in this... The cost in lives will be massive.
“For the last time, yes Luna. Is Steph in Austin right now? Will she be changed with the first wave?”
Very well. I'll steel myself for this H.G., but after this we're done. You promised.
*sigh* Yes, Steph will be flying into Austin in about two hours. I guess we'll start then. Who do you want to start with? We have a lot of people to work on by hand for this part.
Howard looked all over Austin. He started watching and preparing for what many would consider to be the end of the world. He wanted the first one changed to be someone fun.
Finally, he saw a girl. She was beautiful and looked very annoyed. Perfect.

An Account of Humanity
It has been 50 years since humanity has made its mark on the galaxy. Before that, humans were a simple species, living in isolation in their own little part of the galaxy. But times have changed, and so have the views of the humans that have now spread across the stars. Some see them as challengers of their galactic dominion, others look at them with eyes of envy and reluctant gratitude, and others find them merely interesting. Perhaps, by chronicling the effect these humans have had upon the galaxy can they figure out the mysteries of humanity themselves. These are their accounts.

Divine Mortality
Divine Mortality is about the experiences of Players stepping into a new massively online world. A video game which was crafted with near-future technical advances, a game that provides seamless virtual reality headset and control support, a game which was hidden until it's surprise hit release shocking the world of boring and mundane MMORPGs played today, and a game that has been described as a miracle creation. Something which is difficult to create in Today's REAL WORLD, yet, it's not impossible with the right conditions and intentions. I try to implement concepts of my dream MMORPG which I believe will work and fulfill a Player's fun, immersion, creativity, and social world. The story in season 1 follows the first person perspective of an enthusiast of the game, Amulet Pond. Season 2 follows a new individual called Sayooshi, written in a more third person perspective (attempted light novel). (Recommended!) Season 1 covers the rough chapters 1-52, Season 2 (chapters 53+) should be better in quality. You can start reading from 53.
