《Immortal Conqueror》76. Epilogue — END OF BOOK 2

"I found it!" yelled Logan. Soon, the High Lord entered the tiny room in the Imperial Garrison.
There was half of a twisted body there, the mortal remains of the former commander.
The High Lord twisted his lips. "The worst came to pass, the collapsed teleport brought his lower half, while the Changebringer has the brain. We must leave the Thenor Empire at once."
The Guardian of the Light of the World looked through the window as soon as he felt the Call of Light.
A deacon had started a Holy Crusade in a faraway kingdom. That was the only sin punished by a torturous death in the Temple of Light. But soon, the deacon authority was replaced by one much higher, that the guardian had only felt once to learn to regonized it.
That Herald of Light's.
The Arcane Circle had been prepared to answer the herald's call ever since he had been appointed, for that was his purpose. The guardian stood up and headed straight for the teleportation formation. The strongest fighters in the Arcane Circle's HQ would do the same.
It had taken much longer than he had expected, but the Apostle of Light had come a week ago and told him that the Herald of Light didn't understand the full extent of his authority over the forces of Light. The God of Rule demanded the herald's ignorance unless he became a Devout or found the knowledge on writings open to the public.
Every Devout of Light was forced to obey those rules, some even having their memories outright erased to guarantee it was obeyed. The apostle had told the guardian of a workaround and it was on the way to the herald. Alas, it would take a few days to arrive yet. And the guardian himself would be the one to deliver it in a roundabout manner.

As he walked, he wondered who was Holy Crusade's target. Who had sinned so greatly that the Goddess of Light had decided to use her full might against them? The answer came from a report he received midway through the teleporter: the Timelords.
The guardian smiled wildly. Oh, that would be a great slap in the face of the emperor. He had failed to get rid of the beasts repeatedly until he was forced to make peace with them. Meeting with those arrogant generals after the crusade succeeded would be great.
The guardian liked the Herald of Light already.
At first, the former Madam of the Arcane Circle branch in Illyria had greatly enjoyed her life at the Sixth Region's branch of the Arcane Circle.
Selna had arrived a refugee from a kingdom being purged, yet she had been treated like a princess. The mere fact that she had come from the same kingdom as the Herald of Light had made the Guardian of the Light of the World send her a physician to heal any cultivation issue she might have. Following that, he had also sent a superior cultivation technique that would allow her to reach the Five Star level in only a couple of years.
She was glad that the Herald of Light had left the city so quickly. She had been intending on capturing him, but what if she failed? Her head would be gone already.
Much like the general populace, she had only known the Herald of Light as a religious figure. However, she got curious about him as soon as the Five Star Physician arrived, so she researched the subject. Her origin had also helped there, and she got access to knowledge that should be hidden from any non-Devout.
After being shocked by what she discovered, she had swiftly made her presence as small as possible, in the hopes everyone would forget about her. She kept to her room as cultivated almost all day every day. She really didn't want to have to deal with him at all.

Selna had just finished another cultivation session when she saw a blinking light coming from the room's communication crystal. She was an Entropomancer, and it gave her faint impressions of the future sometimes. This time, it gave her the strongest prophecy to date.
She was going to war, and unless she submitted herself entirely to Ironblood when she got there, she was going to die.
