《A Mediocre Supreme Cultivator》Day Off

"Siiiiighhhhhh"
Fang Hu was feeling out of it, his day was just beginning, but he was already tired of studying. He had done it day in and day out for almost a month now. The only reason he hadn't gone insane was his sparring and visiting his disciples. While the sparring was fun, it was nowhere near as entertaining as visiting his disciples. If his study wasn't so rewarding, he'd spend a lot more time with them than he is now. Speaking of rewards, Fang Hu had gathered five spirit stones, meaning he fought Song Guanyu over sixty times. What he could do with five spirit stones was rather limited, it wasn't enough spirit stones to make reforming his amulet worth it. The same held true for buying cultivation manuals and techniques, it just hasn't worth it unless he needed to. Unless he lost his amulet or needed to fix a problem in true cultivator fashion, then five spirit stones wouldn't be enough.
The scholar raised a hand from his position on the Chinese rope bed. He liked it, it was fairly comfortable and covered a good bit of the room. They had a little table you could put on it. A kang, Fang Hu thought it was called. It was cool, but if Fang Hu ever got his own place, he would get a more western style of bed. Well, that's if he still needs to sleep by then, and this whole world seems 'Asian', for lack of a better word, so calling the style western might be a bit of a misnomer. In any case Fang Hu spent most of his time here lounging around on the bed, studying, practicing, and reflecting on his sparring matches.
The scholar's amulet flashed, and a mote of light appeared out of Fang Hu's finger. Slowly, the mote of light grew. It grew until it was the size of Hu's fingertip, then it grew until it resembled a light bulb. Suddenly the amulet acted like it was at a rave, and within the span of a second the room was lit up more than a christmas tree on fire. Fang Hu had made dozens of small scale spells like this one, but it was still his favorite. It wasn't useful for a cultivator on his level, but it was pretty, and that was always a plus.
With a yawn, Fang boy resolved himself to take a break and wait until the morning. Then he could go visit his disciples.

In the outermost training arena of the Song compound, the sounds of training could be heard. If one followed the sounds of training, one would find the bizarre sight of an old man squaring off against a little girl. Though it was bizarre, everyone present didn't bat an eyelash at them. That's because, in certain worlds, a fight between a grown man and a ten-year-old girl becoming even semi-serious would result in an instant knock-out. To be fair, people in those worlds wouldn't care about the age difference when they were wondering about the apparent super powers of the two fighters.

With the power and accuracy of the summit of mankind, Dai Yi unleashed a series of heavy blows. These were the types of punches that could fell trees, and they weren't just punches, her little fists were wreathed in fire. The sparks that were visible on her eyes, ears, and teeth had multiplied, they were no longer just sparks. It was as if flames had given her fangs, extended her ears, and engulfed her eyes. She even had what looks like the start of a tail protruding from her tailbone.
As viscous the strikes seemed to be, they were all parried with apparent ease by her opponent. The old man didn't look particularly bothered by the attacks coming from the little lady. He slapped strike after strike away without taking a single bit of damage. It might not be appropriate to call the man old anymore. In most places, many would call the man middle-aged, but in Wonton Fields anyone with gray hair would be called old, people who haven't been able to maintain their youth don't last long here.
It was so that Fang Hu got to witness the last bit of their sparing session. Little Yi was putting up a good fight, despite the cultivation difference. If she wasn't, you know, ten years old, she might have even had a chance. As it was, Little Yi ended up on the ground, exhausted.
Exhausted as she was, she didn't let it stop her from running over to a person who went unnoticed in the fervor of the fight.
"Master!"
"Greetings, Little Yi and Old Jiahao, the showing was spectacular, my two disciples have progressed by leaps and bounds."
As Fang Hu picked up Dai Yi, Jiahao made his way over.
"You give us too much credit, Master Fang. It was really your techniques that allowed us to get this far. I only hope that we can live up to your greatness."
"I do not deserve such praise, I may be talented in the arts of cultivation, but I am still just a wandering scholar. Even in the smaller cities and clans among the Wonton Fields, I am no real threat. Only those who don't know the immensity of Heaven and Earth would claim me powerful."
"No way Master, you're going to be the most powerful person on Pangea, I just know it!"
"Haha, even if that were to become true Little Yi, there would still be people stronger than me."
That statement only served to confuse his two disciples. The people of the Wonton Fields weren't too knowledgeable about higher and lower realms, much less so about the secrets of the system. Fang Hu laughed their confusion off, he couldn't do much more, he wouldn't be able to explain it. He couldn't explain about the system because of the system, and he couldn't talk about higher and lower realms because he hadn't actually confirmed their existence yet.

Instead of explaining anything, Fang Hu simply moved on. He took a dramatic pose.
"It has come to my attention that I've grown bored with my studies!"
Dai Yi had been the scholar's disciple for long enough to play along.
"*GASP*, whatever will you do, Master!?"
"I do not know young disciple, mayhaps my oldest disciple could help me recognize Mount Tai?"
"What's Mount Tai?"
"... Yes Jiahao, I think I will spend the day with my disciples!"
"!"
"Yaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy~!"
After that, Fang Hu spent the day with his disciples. There wasn't much to do around the Subtle Scroll Sect, especially if you were an outsider. Even so, they found was to entertain themselves. Fang Hu told stories that he totally didn't rip off wholesale from his old world. Dai Yi had a strange new penchant for climbing. Even Jiahao had gotten really into the board games that Fang Hu had introduced him to. They played checkers, chess, and othello, Jiahao almost cried when his master had promised to look into finding a board piece and instruction manual for shogi. Fang Hu didn't actually know if shogi actually existed here, but given the general vibe of this planet, he was pretty certain it was here somewhere.
There was only two major events that day. Guanyu wanting to spar and the 'crew' wanting to go to this Chinese theater the sect had. The theater was one of the few places for entertainment in the entire sect, the other places either didn't work on cultivators on Fang Hu's level or weren't the types of places he would want to take Little Yi.
The spar, which happened first, was a sight to see. It was to Fang Hu's disciples, anyway. They only rarely got to see Fang Hu sparring with Song Guanyu, not because they were prohibited to or anything, but because their own cultivation took up a lot of their spare time. The combatants moved much faster than they had before. If the duo hadn't been cultivators, then they'd only be able to see afterimages of the battle. As it was, they were able to see every jab, counter, and strike... of their master, the other man was invisible, after all.
Even if the fight was one-sided, and they could only see one fighter, they were still rooted to the spot that stood. Fang Hu had clearly improved, and not just in speed and power. His moves were more fluid and sharper. While it was clear he had benefited from practicing his martial art for once, he also progressed in his already proficient use of daos. However, as much as Fang Hu had improved, it was a drop in the bucket in comparison to his opponent. The man was like an entirely different cultivator, they could only watch while Fang Hu tried his best not to be thrashed. That may sound like Guanyu became overpowered, but in all honesty, it was commendable for a half-step foundation establishment cultivator to be able to hold ground against a fourth stage foundation establishment cultivator to begin with.
After Fang Hu had been healed up, courtesy of a Song Clan healer, the Fang Gang and the Song Brothers went to visit the theater. The theater only had musicals, it made sense to Fang Hu in hindsight. Chinese theaters always told the story in songs. Well, they did until western theater was introduced to them, then they sometimes had theater in western style. Fang Hu couldn't remember where he got this information from. The top contenders were his failed drama class, his days of playing the Wikipedia game, or that one funny theater episode of 'Av**ar: The L*st Airb*nder'.
In any case, the musical play pleased all age groups, it was a story of a legendary cultivator vanquishing demonic cultivators. There were several children in the audience acting like this was the best play of their entire lives, and it was intriguing enough to capture the hearts and minds of the older members of the audience.
