Naturally, I matched with Kit because we were both swiping right, but after explaining to her who I was and what I was doing, she was more than willing to meet with me. The downside was that we would be doing it over video conference, as she only had a small window of time to fit me in.
I waited for the connection to go through, and suddenly I was looking at a video of the cute kitsune girl in front of me. She had a hand up waving, and smiled brightly. She was wearing a black wig, and I could see the tip of her tails waving behind her. Her room was bright, and there were several outfits laid out on her bed behind her, as well as other things used for her job.
"Hey, Kit. Thanks for meeting with me. I know how busy you are."
She laughed, "Honestly, when I realized you weren't wasting my time, it occurred to me that this had the potential to actually boost my business."
"As long as the Unhinged algorithm matches you with people."
"In general. Unhinged isn't the only place I use to try and sell my content. It's just one open market out of many. I'm all over the internet. So even just being a part of your blog is like free advertisement for me."

"interesting," I said. "So, how did you get into this line of work?"
"Well, I didn't really know what I was going to do for awhile, but I knew I was attractive, and I knew I wasn't shy. After a few people told me they would pay to see some pictures of me, I realized that if I controlled the situation, it didn't feel too gross, you know?"
"And business is good?"
"Sure! I mean, there's always going to be those people who think they're so special and try to charm their way to getting free pictures and videos. It's a waste of time, but easy to ignore. But when you get proper clients, and then also super loyal clients? It's amazing. It's like having my own little circle of friends on the side. They just happen to enjoy pictures of me naked."
"So, what kind of content do you sell?"
"Well, I have old sets of pictures and videos that I've bundled up, I do new pictures every day. I also have like a live follow of pictures and videos for fans who buy into a girlfriend experience package. Just get to see me as I go about my day. I also do video chats, phone chats, texts, and custom stuff."
"That seems like a lot."
"It can be, but most loyal clients are patient and understanding about it. Most of them are just looking for a little bit of connection to someone. And I'm willing to give them that connection for a price, ya know?"
"So, are you worried that Unhinged is going to put a foot down about content selling like other apps have?"
She shakes her head, "Not really. Like I said, Unhinged isn't my only market. I've been on a lot of those other apps that suddenly got all holier than thou. You just move on to the next one. Plus, non-humans don't tend to have much of a problem with it. We're a lot less reserved than humans."

"So, I assume you already have a lot of human clients then?"
"Oh, absolutely! Your people have such a weird obsession with foxes and kitsune. But hey, that works out better for me. Some of my best clients are humans. Hey, hold on a sec."
She gets up from her chair and exits off camera. I hear a lot of stuff being moved around. When she comes back, she's wearing no wig, letting her dark hair fall to her shoulder underneath a stereotypical nurses hat. She's wearing the outfit to match.
"How do I look?"
"Why the change?"
She chuckles to herself, "Like you said, I'm very busy. Immediately following this interview, I have a client who paid extra for a custom one on one video. He sent me this outfit off of my wish list. It's going to be very fun."
"So, does this become more like work to you then? Or is it still fun?"
She sighed, "I've been doing this for a couple of years now. A lot of it is work, sure. Scheduling. Dealing with people wasting my time. Trying to balance stuff outside of it. But for the most part, yeah, it is fun. I'm pretty close with a lot of my regulars. Some of them even spend money just for us to stream a movie together or chat for awhile. Nothing sexual about it at all. Like, yeah, society finds it weird that I would get paid for that, but honestly, it's not that bad."
"I get that," I say. "Well, I have to say, you do look great, and I hope your appointment goes well."
She pans the camera to some of the items on the bed, and I've got to say that I'm impressed. She brings the camera back to herself, "Oh, it's going to go very, very well. Thanks, Silas!" The connection drops.
Honestly, I was a bit worried going into this interview. Humanity tends to have a problem with sex work in general, and that taboo kind of rubbed off on me in a sense. But after meeting Kit, all of that kind of washed away. She was taking measures to protect herself, she was staying social, and she was able to pay her bills while still enjoying her job. I can't fault her for any of those things.
I truly love journalism. And as much as I've seen the many comments and articles that talk about my unprofessionalism and compare it to 'classic journalism', I try to ignore them. I think it's important to truly love what you do with your life. And if you can't find a way to take that passion and transfer it over to financially support you? Even better. Until next time.

Ruins of Dalághast
I've been writing for as long as I can remember, but I'd always been torn between different projects. That's why I decided to dedicate myself to a pretty strict schedule of writing and editing a single chapter every month since the start of 2019. This is an ongoing, work in progress novel that follows a ragtag group of sellswords as they delve into a lost city on the edge of the known world in search of their fortunes. Within, though, they find much more than they ever expected and find themselves in a race against time to unravel a mystery centuries old. For those who want to see my work months earlier than it will be released here, alongside exclusive artwork and other perks, consider supporting me and my work on Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/atlaswrites
