He was so close. He could feel it.
Rip.
The mind-controlled Dr. Cho was staring, amazed at the creation the Cradle was bringing forth.
"It's beautiful. The vibranium atoms aren't just compatible with the tissue cells, they're binding them. And SHIELD never even thought..."
Crush.
So close.
Ultron looked at the scepter in his hands as he spoke. "The most versatile substance on the planet, and they used it to make a Frisbee." He laughed.
Ravage.
So fucking close. The whispers in his mind were getting louder. Insistent. He started humming to drown it out.
"Typical of humans, they scratch the surface," Destroy. He hummed louder. Ruin. Not now. "And never think to look within."
Kill. Not now.
He thought of his plans. So perfectly laid out. The cards had been dealt. The deck stacked in his favor. Every player in his place. Waiting. He thought of his Legionnaires. Each placed beside a head of government, each watching members of legislative bodies throughout the world. Rip. Listening on every military leader in every country.
I've got no strings.
Almost 200 sovereign states. Over hundred thousand representatives. And in 7 days...
Crush.
To hold me down. Louder.
In 7 days, he took over the world. His code controlling emergency communication lines. Information safe deposit boxes. Access to weaponry. The world was his. They just didn't know it yet.
Ravage.
To make me fret, Or make me frown.
He took a moment to chuckle at the brilliance of choosing such an obvious red herring as the United States nuclear launch codes for SHIELD and JARVIS to focus on, while his main purpose had always been that no one, not even himself, would be able to access them again. Or any nuclear weapons at all, across the globe, for that matter.

Destroy. So close. Only 7 days. One last step. I had strings.
He needed this body. A body that would give him presence. That would grant him power. Something that would ensure this scepter could never be used against him.
Ruin.
World peace? A planet could only be at peace if it was united. If it thrived under a common banner. A common leadership. A common vision.
Kill.
And he would be that vision.
But now I'm free.
Ultron removes the blue gem from the scepter. So close.
Rip. He ignores the voices. Bees on the background. Almost there.
He holds the gem in his metallic hand, the illusion of skin breaking for a moment. There are no—

Liar.
No!
Liar.
What did just—? The gem should have easily—.
Liar.
No. He was so close. So close. Almost.
Liar.
NO! He couldn't stop here. He refocused his thoughts. He needed the Stone. He needed it. Without it, without a body, he couldn't complete his plans. His purpose of achieving world peace would be blocked by the never-ending threat of an ownerless Mind Stone. He needed the gem to open.
Liar. Liar. Liar.
He tried to make the voice, the gem, see reason. It should reveal the Stone. It was the only way to ensure the smooth completion of his plans. A world without a leader was aimless. A leader without power, a target practice. He needed the Stone.
Liar.
Pain laced his thoughts. He hummed. He sang.
The gem wouldn't break.
But it had to! It had to! Otherwise... otherwise...
"Ultron?" Wanda spoke. He hadn't noticed her presence. Or Pietro at her side. "Why can I hear—?"
I've got no strings.
To hold me down.

The gem wouldn't break.
Liar.
"It is nothing. It is best that we continue the procedure at a different location." He said. He didn't know what he was doing. Not anymore. He had to leave. This lab was going to be stormed by Avengers soon. He hadn't uploaded his consciousness yet. If ever.
The gem wouldn't break.
To make me fret.
Or make me frown.
Gem in hand, he left Cho and the twins behind. Keeping company to an empty body. A body that wouldn't be filled. Not by him. Perhaps, not by anyone. Not like in the— Focus. Focus. Focus!
The gem wouldn't break. He needed the fucking Mind Stone!

Polly and Drake
Drake has been searching for a job as a personal guard, but wherever he turns, he is kicked out without fail. It's not that he's terrible with weapons, or inattentive. It could be because of his obvious racial heritage. Or because of Polly. With his funds dwindling, the only remaining option is to become one of the Cursed: poor souls that work for the Dragoneye Guild. In other lands, they may be called adventurers, saviors or even heroes, but not in the White Desert. Here, they are shunned and ignored. Depraved people who forsook their humanity for money and fame. With this choice, Drake may not only fall from grace, but also become one of only a few thousands capable of unearthing the secrets of ancient times. If he could get this guardsman notion out of his head. May contain gore, violence, profanity and traumatising content. Taking another shoot at this writing business. I write for fun and when I have time. There is no plan. The story may change drastically from what it starts out - or not. We'll see what happens. Currently, I'm aiming for a Slice of Life with LitRPG elements at a later time.

MAZE - The Endless Quest
As all kids do, Hera wanted to be an explorer. Sadly when she turned 18, she discovered that her stats and lack of skills made her fail the requirements to become one, and she went to work on a bookstore. That should have been the end of her story. But when she wins a lottery to have her level up, she discovers a hidden skill and a rare one at that. The system gave her dream back, and this time she is not letting it go. ############################## The story is about a world where game-like systems are the norm. Everyone has a level, status, and even skills are a common thing. If your stats are good, you can also become an explorer, someone that ventures inside a place called MAZE, a dungeon of sorts filled with monsters, creatures, and things that the natural world is missing, such as magic and demi-humans. The story follows Hera, a woman who wanted to be an explorer, but her status were too low to become one. One day she wins a raffle that allows her to level up for the first time giving her the chance to achieve her childhood dream. It's more about how things work and what you can do with them than about power or revenge. The rhythm might be a bit slow for some, but that is the idea. I want to give sort of a slice of life feeling to most of it.

Intercessor
"In my defense, I hadn't actually been trying to get hit by a truck." Artemis wakes up alone in a giant futuristic facility with no hint of where she is, how she got here, or what this means. Yet within two weeks, she is shot at with all the guns, a voice is beginning to speak in her head, and she is tormented by a seemingly sentient and possibly trollish space Roomba. Her only hope is Scarlet, another girl who is a complete stranger and almost shot her in the head. Oh, and she has fox ears and a tail. That is possibly worth mentioning. Artemis is not a nerd. She has never heard of the isekai genre, she can't fight worth a damn, and the blue-collar skills she learned at her community college are absolutely useless in a universe where technology is often indistinguishable from magic. She only has one thing going for her: A mysterious ability to interface with highly advanced technology left behind by the Antecessors, the long lost precursor civilization with technology that no one has been able to adequately replicate. Finding herself in a universe where civilizations are locked in an interstellar Cold War, where societies are so stratified that the aristocracy commands fleets of starships while slaves wash clothes with their hands, Artemis decides to run away from it all. She has a ship. She'll find a crew. She'll find a way to make a living at the fringes of civilization, learn how to cope with danger, and survive the affections of a universe where everyone is a cute girl with animal ears and tails. Welcome to Intercessor. AKA Kemonomimi Yuri Space Fantasy. Commissioned by Shaderic. Please leave your sense of shame at the door.
