《Path of Divinity》Chapter 1

Hunter Gold had always been somewhat of a nerd. He liked to read books, play video games, and hang out with his select group of friends. They were the outcasts, the rejects, and the unlucky. They were the collection of oddballs in their various pursuits that didn’t quite fit in with the rest of the group. It was with those people that he felt a sort of kinship. They helped him feel like he wasn’t an imposter in his own skin.
He didn’t always consider himself a nerd. Sure, he did well in school. He played sports in high school and participated in extra curricular activities, but he never felt like he belonged.
It seemed like everyone else had a plan for their life. There was a path laid out for them that was paved in stone. They wanted to be doctors or lawyers or successful businessmen. Meanwhile, as graduation neared Hunter found himself looking for his own path and coming up short.
It always seemed to be just out of sight. He liked to read, but writing seemed like it would take too much time. Plus, he never seemed to find that spark of creativity that would actually make him start writing. He had planned magic systems, and sketched out exciting characters, but he never actually sat down to write something.
He liked to play video games, but every coding class he had been exposed to made him feel like he was trying to learn a foreign language. His second year of Spanish had made him very aware that he wasn’t going to be adept at languages. Once he learned that his teacher, Mrs. Hernandez expected him to ask to leave the class in Spanish every time, he had quickly started planning his bathroom breaks appropriately.
Even in sports, he was only passable. He was a varsity player on his high school basketball team, but he was never the type to make the winning basket. He was the kind of player that seemed poised to set up someone else for the perfect shot. Maybe if he was better, he could expect to do that for a living, but he had never filmed his games or sent them off to recruiters. He had never even made the attempt. He wished someone would help him do it, but the assistance never came.

The truth was, Hunter knew that he wouldn’t be successful at any of those things. He was only good at school because the teachers told him what to do. He was only passable at basketball because his coaches made him run drill after drill. When people weren’t showing him the way, he felt lost. He didn’t have the discipline or the motivation to put in the extra hours of practice or dedicate time to study. He had a gift at being good at everything, but no real drive to be great at anything.
All of this was why he was currently sitting halfway up Snodgrass Mountain and glaring balefully down at the small town below. The town center looked like a Christmas nativity scene. Each perfect building was covered in snow and there were twinkling streetlights that glowed merrily even from Hunter’s elevated position.
His mother had thought it would be a good idea for Hunter to visit his grandparents during spring break at their summer home in Crested Butte. She had hoped being around his opulently wealthy grandparents would give him the spark he needed to apply to some reputable colleges and find his own path to success.
She didn’t realize that Grandma Blair and Grandpa Hank were entirely unhelpful. They practically dripped wealth in the way that seasonal home owners to Colorado often did. They had the tricked out Jeep, the sophisticated lodge-style home, the multi-acre ranch with alpacas, and a pair of Bernese Mountain Dogs that were the only real bright spot for his crappy spring break.
His grandparents weren’t close to his mom and now Hunter was feeling the brunt of their disapproval. Ever since his mom had run away from home to get hitched to his no-good father, they had practically disowned her. She had worked as a bank teller while going to community college and trying to provide for Hunter and his little sister Summer. When his dad split, his mom had to take care of him and his sister by herself at the tender age of eighteen. Hunter always shook his head in wonder when he realized that his mom had done all of that while being only a little older than he was now.

The real sticking point was that his grandparents had refused to help. They thought that his mom should have to own up to her mistakes and realize the life she had left behind. Now that Hunter was staying with them they treated him like a burden. They were always quick to point out how much money they were spending to feed him or how lucky he was that they allowed him to stay. It was all so….transactional.
He could have dealt with all that. He didn’t care how they treated him. Disdain was something that he was used to. His grandparents were no worse than the many bullies Hunter had suffered through for the majority of his life. He found his breaking point when they took thinly veiled jabs at his mom.
That was the reason for his short hike up Snodgrass. He couldn’t hear one more story about his grandfather’s success on his latest venture capital project or how his grandmother had scheduled a meeting with senator-who-fucking-cares about non-profit fundraising. He didn’t want to listen to one more “now, if your mom had listened to us, she could’ve …”
Hunter took a deep breath to steady himself. He knew he was just making himself angry and the frigid air helped to steady him. The bitter cold reminded him that he probably shouldn’t have made the trip in the first place. Going up the mountain was easy enough. The trails were mostly clear and all of the guideposts were clearly visible, but the trek up was only half the battle. Once he exhausted himself going up, he would still need to make his way back down. By then, his bones would be chilled and his blood would be sluggish.
He slid off of his perch and decided that it was time to head back. The light was already fading from the sky, and it would be dark by the time he reached home. If he was lucky, he would be able to find someone in town that would give him a ride to his grandparent’s property. Unlike his home in Arizona, the people in Colorado seemed all too willing to handle hitchhikers.
As he started to trudge his way down Snodgrass, a message appeared in his eyes.
System initializing…
Hunter tripped over his own feet in surprise and immediately began to tumble down the trail. He only rolled a couple times before his feet caught him and halted his slide. His reaction didn’t save him from the cold and wet snow that suffused the entirety of his being. His teeth were chattering when the next message arrived.

Live Life Homunclus
The end is not always the end. Nothing is permanent, and even death itself is merely a transition. This fact holds true for a certain young man who died quite tragically on Earth. Lucky for him, a new life was just around the corner. A world filled with magic, adventure, and oh so many dangers awaited. Everything would be perfect, if it wasn't for the fact that he reincarnated into a homunclus. An artificial life-form said to possess almost zero combat capabilities. An exemplary example of pure breed cannon fodder. Surviving in a world where dragons roam the skies and monsters stalk the lands, wasn't this a bit too unreasonable?

Those Zombies Again
One day Sam wakes up in a world full of zombies and tries to survive.PSFirst of all i would not recommend this novel if you haven't read like hundred of novels already. Its pretty weird and depressing novel. This story is told almost completely from MC point of view. Third person.MC is a pretty ugly random guy with different psychological problems. He is antisocial and limited person.Lore - Since MC is limited and barely interested in people or just surroundings, you will get pretty limited descriptions on stuff, it was meant to be like that.Characters - Obviously for the same reason, you will not see much characters, usually you wont get their description or even names.Fights - I personally hate those fights in novels which take like few chapters to describe some shitty encounters. For example MC is making his "move" and then you get half chapter of description of his thoughts and the ways his face is looking, and the way like his opponent surprised and the way crowd is reacting and so on. I really hate all that shit so fights in this novel will be described not that often, only if an equal or a new opponent, and only in a strict and straightforward way, no bullshit. Now this novel is not exactly fantasy, its more like grim realistic-fantasy.But i will have to explain what i mean. Lets take rape in most novels as an example. Usually MC will be justified to rape a girl one way or another. Common example is aphrodisiac. Or the girl were trying to kill him so he had to "punish" her. Or she just happened to jump on his thing and then after rape she become his girlfriend etc, Those are examples of "fan service" in novel. So MC would be justified and readers woun't feel too uncomfortable to read something like that.So there is no "fan service" in this novel, like at all. You will have to read some stuff that will make you feel uncomfortable and you woun't like it.Common sense also means that there is barely gonna be any "random" events which MC is gonna be part of. No treasures and superpowers he founds because he is "special". He will not meet antagonists on his way. This novels world will not spin around MC in any way. He will usually sit in his deep cave and no one around will give a damn about him or even know of his existence. So this novel is not for you to have fun and enjoy reading. Not to make you feel comfortable, satisfied or happy. Its probably the opposite. There are some standards which novel usually sticks to in order to become popular. Obviously i did not meet those standards at all.
