The Next Day

Morning

Theo’s Room

Theo’s consciousness began to fade in as he existed a dreamless sleep.

What greeted him was the familiar sight of his room shrouded in darkness.

There was a bit of sunlight shining through the windows as another day begins anew.

Sleeping beside Theo was his cute chocolate waifu Pani. She was butt naked and looked as if she was a star of a hardcore porn flick with her unkempt appearance and all the creamy milk leaking from her garden of eden.

He couldn't help but puff his chest in pride. The fact that he has such a delicious kuudere as his waifu was something every man dreamed of.

Theo gave her a light kiss on the forehead before he rose to start his day.

“I’ll never understand how you can get up so early everyday” said Nichola who was reading a book while lying on a pile of clothing.

Based on the dark circles around her eyes, she hasn't slept at all. Such was the life of a bibliomaniac

“Right back at you. I’ll never understand why you enjoy doing all nighters so often” replied Theo

The biggest change since the whole Hellgate incident was Nichola’s general conduct.

She more or less acted the same, but her daily routine did change quite a bit.

The first change was her insistence of sleeping in Theo’s room. Ever since the Hellgate incident, Nichola has not slept in her room at all.

Aside from her turn on night service duty, Nichola could be found on top of the pile of clothing in the corner of Theo’s already cramp room. She would either be reading something or pleasuring herself while she watched Theo and Pani’s action scenes.

Theo wasn't sure what’s the reasoning behind Nichola’s sudden desire of proximity, but he was fairly sure that the trigger was when she saw him in a vegetative state after the Hellgate Incident.

He always thought Nichola was someone who was ruled by logic and reason in all of her actions. She might have a couple of emotional outbursts here and there, but she has generally remained calm and carried on.

He has clearly misjudged how important of an emotional support he was to Nichola.

The second change he notice was the increased frequency of Nichola’s night time meow meows. While she still complained of the post smexy time exhaustion, she no longer tries to talk her way out of her turn. In some case, she would even actively seek out a little midday fun in the office.

This was clearly the result of Theo publicly announcing that Juno was pregnant with his child.

Speaking of pregnancy, there was one mystery Theo has been wanting to gain knowledge of.

“Hey Nichola, can I ask you something?” said the still naked Theo as he went to the fridge for a shot of grape juice.

“I know you’re a horny bastard, but cant you hold it in till my turn later tonight? I’m sleep deprived here.” replied Nichola without removing her gaze from her book.

“I’m not asking about sex you know?”

“Eh? For real?” replied the suspicious Nichola

“Just what image do you have of me in that pretty little head of yours?”

“A sexfiend that has an insatiable level of libido. The personification of lust that would shag any woman that was stupid enough to be in close proximity of you. Why do you ask?”

“Hey! That last part is clearly a lie! After my first time, I am extremely picky with who I sleep with! You already know exactly those woman are!”

“~Hmm~ Not for long. Anyways, what’s that thing you wanted to ask me?”

Though Theo wanted to contest Nichola’s very wrong view of him, he decided to let it slide for now. She was not complete wrong after all.

“I’ve been wondering this for a while now, but why did it take so long for you 3 to get pregnant? I have never used any form of contraceptives ever and I’ve been reckless with our very frequent nightly activities. Yet for some reason, it was only recently that Juno finally got knocked up. Do you know anything about this?” asked Theo

“Oh, that one. It is called the ‘Metagene Fertility Theory’ by the experts on the subject. Hmm… how should I explain this…. I guess the best way is that no one really knows.” replied Nichola with a shrug

“Question: What’s this Metagene Fertility Theory? And what do you mean ‘no one knows’?”

“Huh? Why don't you know about it? Didn't the HAA teach you about these types of crap?”

“I’m in the construction department, I make things that go boom. That theory seems to be something in the field of medicine.”

“Good point. Then let me see if I can explain it in layman’s terms”

Nichola rose from her bed made of clothes and took a box of chocolate milk from the fridge.

She and Theo sat around the small table in the kitchen and proceeded with their conversation

“Let’s begin. As its name suggest, the theory revolves around how likely or unlikely one can conceive a child based on one’s metagene.” said Nichola

“I assume it's one of those ‘the higher the metagene level, the lower the chance of conception’ sort of thing. That’s how this stuff works in the comics.” replied Theo

“Yes and no. While your statement is correct in a sense, it is not the only factor that comes into play. There’s a fair few variables like body type, weight, diet, general condition of both partners, but the most important one is the metagene type of both partners and how compatible they are to each other.”

“Huh… sounds complicated”

“Using the word ‘complicated’ can't begin to describe the futility of trying to understand the metagene fertility. There have been many tests over the centuries to find a definitive measuring stick, but none have successfully put down a solid frame on it.”

“Wait. Centuries?”

“Yes. Since ancient times and probably before that, there have been many attempts to breed the perfect being into existence. Every method under the sun has been attempted, but none were ever consistent. Some couples with S ranked metagene level could conceive almost immediately while others go through their lives without a single child. Even if a pair of couples had the same height, weight, body structure, powers and metagene level, the odds of conception and the traits inherited varies widely.”

“Damn. No wonder it’s a ‘theory’. From what I can understand, it’s pretty much up to lady luck”

“Exactly. No one really knows how conception works between those who wield power. We actually have a perfect example of the unpredictability of the metagene fertility.” said Nichola as she pointed to the unconscious Pani.

“Right… I get you. She’s a perfect clone of Jabir ibn Hayyan yet she inherited none of his power.” replied Theo

“There’s more actually. Pani allowed me to check on her body, so I know a thing or two about her. One particular aspect I found interesting was her heavily modified womb. From what I can tell, she was designed to get pregnant very easily and never become infertile. Yet despite these mods, you still haven't knocked her up. Since both of you have E rank Metagene Level, the odds of conception should be significantly higher than between you and me.”

“Hmm. I see. But why does this happen? Any specifics?”

“The answer is similar to what I said earlier. No one knows for certain. I do have a few hypothesis on it, but I suggest you take it with a grain of salt.”

“No one really knows what’s what about this topic anyways. It doesn't matter if you’re right or not.”

With a shrug, Nichola began explaining her theory.

“It all goes back to the definition of the Metagene AKA the potential a person’s body would morph into something else when a catalyst is introduced. Depending on what the catalyst is, the change could be almost nonexistent or something very catastrophic. I believe that sexual intercourse, namely the sperm, is a very minor catalyst that gets destroyed by the natural internal defenses of someone with metagene levels. Quite simply, a female with some levels of metagene in their body has a built in contraceptive in their body.”

“Hmm. That makes sense. I’ve read somewhere that a vast majority of sperm dies the moment they enter the woman’s body. If that woman has superpowers, the white blood cells must be exponentially nasty”

“Exactly. And even if the sperm does reach the egg, here is no guarantee that it is a strong enough catalyst for conception. Just to be clear, this is just my personal thoughts. It’s not a proven fact.”

“It does make sense though. But it does make me wonder: How the hell do you come to that conclusion?”

“That’s easy. Lots and lots of experimentations. Normally demonic summons get banished from this world when their mana source AKA human sacrifices dries up. However, have you noticed how my Furies demonettes are not suffering from this?”

It didnt take Theo a couple of seconds to connect the dots

“You’ve been asking me for a portion of my prisoners….. Does that mean that you’ve been using them as breeders or something?”

“Correct. Back in the day when I was still under HAA protection, I summoned a midtier Lust demon and had the HAA bring me a bunch of criminals that were on death row in a constant pace. For a few months, the Lust demon raped the said inmates all day, every day till they died. Not a bad way to go I guess. This lasted for about 6 months until the Lust demon finally got pregnant and gave birth to the first 5 of my Furies. Though significantly weaker than the Lust demon, the Furies’ half blood nature ancored them to this realm without any problems. They do need to eat though. That was kind of an annoyance, but nothing I couldn't handle.”

“And what happened to the Lust demon?”

“Dead. After it gave birth to the Furies, I asked some mages who were interested in a demon’s corpse to kill it. Demons are notorious for being backstabbers. I had no intention of waiting to be at the receiving end of it.”

“Cruel much?”

“I summoned her specifically for that task. Her usefulness ended right then and there. From there onwards, the Furies would take on the role as breeders. Anyways, my conclusion on the matter of the Metagene Fertility Theory is this: As long as there is even the smallest compatibility between 2 individuals of the opposite sex, it is possible to achieve conception. It will take a hell lot of time and a lot of attempts though.”

“I see…. 0.01% odds of success is not 0%.”

“Pretty much. I think this is the case with your brother and his wife…. Bartholomew and Meredith were their names, right?”

“Really?!” exclaimed Theo, much to Nichola’s surprise

“Eh? What’s with the sudden burst of energy?”

“Last time I spoke with my brother, he’s been worrying if he was impotent. I was even considering asking Doctor Frog Face to give him a visit….. But wait…. Barth has no Metagene level. How the does your theory apply to him?”

“The best way to spot a bloodline with metagene characteristics is if atleast one member of said family has at least E rank metagene level. The rest of the ‘powerless’ family members have metagenes that are too small to manifest into any form of power.” said Nichola. “Besides, I think Meredith also has some small metagene of her own. She did adjust to your cybernetics way too quickly.”

Theo thought about Nichola’s words for a bit.

He never considered that Meredith had metagenes in her veins. While Nichola stated that Meredith took to the cybernetics quickly, Theo didn't see it as such.

He himself and many other had adjusted to cybernetics as quickly as Meredith.

However, this did open up the possibility that there were many below E rankers hidden all over the place. He could keep track of these bloodlines and maybe recruit an offspring with power some time in the future.

“Fufufufufu…. MWAHAHAHAHA! Brilliant! This is genius!” Theo laughed out loud.

“Er… What’s so genius about your brother not being impotent?” asked the confused Nichola

Theo and his manhood stood in attention and stared at Nichola like a predator eyeing his prey.

“You just gave me quite an interesting idea…. You deserve a ‘reward’ my little waifu.”

“Eh? C-calm down Theo. My turn is still later tonight, right? Be patient.” said Nichola as she backed away from Theo.

Though her survival instincts were not developed, it was good enough to realize that she was about to get pounced.

“No no no. Juno has her child, and you clearly want yours. That’s why you increased the frequency of your turn, right? Who am I to deny my lovely wife the child she oh so desires?” replied Theo as he licked his lips in anticipation.

“I-I do want a child too, but can we take it a little slo-~KYAAAAAH~!”

Theo proceeded to ‘reward’ Nichola the entire day
