《Approaching Ascension (Book 1) [Hiatus before Book 2]》Chapter 089

Fang Hao left the assignment hall and infused a bit of his Qi in the paper fox. The paper fox expanded rapidly and began to float a few inches of the ground. Fang Hao was puzzled for a bit, then he sat on the paper fox. There was a sound like a creaking groan, as if the paper fox was about to fall apart. The paper fox then flew in the air, all the while making an annoying creaking groan.
It flew for about twenty minutes or so before it reached the foot of a particularly large hill, when it started descending. The paper fox couldn't apparently tolerate the fatty's load anymore as halfway through the descent, it turned back into a miniature paper fox before disintegrating to dust. Fang Hao was dropped from mid-air and about to crash on the ground, but fortunately fatty hovered himself gently on the foothill and started walking uphill.
'What a cheap shitty talisman. Can't even fly all the way. Well that drop of several dozens of feet at the end isn't going to injure any Foundation Establishment Cultivator, but still; the shoddiness isn't acceptable.' Fang Hao grumbled mentally as he climbed uphill and reached an impressive looking pagoda with seven floors. Fang Hao entered the impressive seven-floored pagoda. Surprisingly, the entrance hall looked very familiar to him. He made may towards the free counter and introduced himself while presetting his amulet.
“Senior Hao, welcome! It s been a while since we received a personal disciple of Master Zhu.” a youth with late foundation establishment cultivation replied to the fatty's query.
“I have just reached the Foundation Establishment Stage. I am a newcomer to the Palace of Formations and Restrictions, I dare not call myself any Foundation Establishment Cultivator's senior.” The Fatty Hao replied in a polite and submissive manner.

After the formal greetings were exchanged, the late foundation establishment youth explained the ins and outs of the Palace of Formations and Restrictions to Fatty Hao. Since he was the personal/direct disciple of the Palace master. He had certain privileges. These privileges drastically reduced his star point expenditure for the Palace specific arts and also granted him a host of other privileges. Unfortunately, with Fang Hao's aptitude in Body Refining, Thunder and Life domains; the fatty would still have to work reasonably hard for contribution points for optimal development of his supposed strengths. Fang Hao acted humbly, as he accepted a mid tier residence as his dwelling.
While a status as the personal disciple of the Palace Master granted him privileges of selecting the best Cave Dwelling as his residence displacing others; Fatty Hao refrained from doing so and opted for a mediocre Cultivation Cave as his residence. The highest Tier residence had the most dense concentration of Qi to aid in cultivation. But Fang Hao really depended on xp farming for his cultivation, so it wasn't really of use to him.
Also, if he did choose the best cultivation ground with the highest density of Spiritual Qi; he would have to displace the present occupants from there cultivation grounds. This wouldn't bring a significant benefit to him; while simultaneously offending the top Foundation Establishment disciples in the Palace of Formations and Restrictions. Therefore, Fang Hao reasonably selected one of the free mid-tier cultivation caves as his residence once the formalities of him begin a Junior Core Disciple in the Palace of Formations and Restrictions were completed.
Since Fang Hao didn't disrupt the Status Quo despite him being the personal disciple of the Palace Master; it earned him the favor of the present colleagues and seniors of Master Zhu's Palace. This didn't cause a significant setback to Fang Hao; while simultaneously increasing the impression seniors had of him. So all in all, it was a favorable strategic move, even if it eroded his presence a bit despite his status. Some arrogant Seniors might take this prudent move of Fang Hao as his weakness, and act against him; but Fang Hao would deal with them if/when he encountered such provocation. At the very least, Fang Hao's prudent action brought him some time.

Once the formalities were done; Fang Hao was given a new partial map of the Jade Pagoda Sect. He was finally allowed to fly in certain portions of the territory of the Jade Pagoda Sect. Fang Hao had selected his cultivation cave/residence to be farther and secluded from the existing territories of the Junior Core Disciples of the Palace of Formations and Restrictions of the Jade Pagoda Sect. His reasoning was that Qi density wouldn't help much in his cultivation (Both Qi and Body Refining) as it relied on killing and xp to progress quickly.
But an emergent issue was, how the fuck was he supposed to find enough stuff to kill to maintain his level-up/cultivation speed with both his Qi Cultivation/Body Refining if he was supposed to be secluded in a shitty cave most of his time? Fang Hao's selected residence wasn't exactly a cave per se. He was clear that his Body Refining Scripture focused on Lightning and Life elements. As a consequence of his body refining, and possibly other factors, his Acquired Spirit Roots for Qi Cultivation also showed a clear bias for Lighting and Life attributes.
While Fang Hao's innate Spirit roots did show some potential for Earth and Fire attributes; Fang Hao was convinced that as he progressed further in his Divine Vajra Body Refining Scripture, the acquired Lighting and Life attributes would dominate and eventually eclipse his innate Earth / Fire Spirit roots.
The Residence Caves with denser Qi were usually located deeper in the ground. However, Considering Fang Hao's deductions about his Spirit Roots; a dense Cultivation Cave deep underground would obviously conflict with the nature of Lightning and Thunder. Traditionally, Lightning and Thunder originated from the heavens. Being Burrowed deep underground wasn't exactly conducive to lighting according to Fang Hao's logic. Also, avoiding the supposedly best Cultivation Caves (deeper underground with denser Qi) in favor of a mediocre residence/mansion located near hilltops which was much more suitable to him; would clearly avoid ruffling feathers. Considering all these; Fang Hao's choice of his Cultivation Residence as Junior Core Disciple was obvious.
