Mature Content Warning: There are like... emotions in this chapter... ewwwww.
Author's Note: This chapter, all three segments, are about Sonja on Earth. I won't be updating again today, as I need to put out the last chapter of origin volume 3 today, and get ready for it to go on hiatus while I clean it up and do some rewriting and expanding for publication.

Chapter 12.1: Who's That Girl?
---
Sonja gazed upon her master, bewildered by what he had just stated. “Are you serious?”
Scott nodded at her. “Yes, very much so.”
She shook her head. “I don’t believe it. No one wears armor and few people carry weapons in this world?”
“Well, in this country you are allowed to carry weapons if you’re not a criminal, but most people don’t see a need. In some other countries everyone carries something.” said Scott. He neglected to point out that most of those countries were considered to be corrupt or war torn shit holes.
The Valkyrie nodded at him. “I see. This will take a little getting used to. I don’t feel right without my sword and armor.”
“We don’t really use swords here, or did not. Things might change in the new feature.” said Scott.
“What sort of weapons do you use?” she asked, curious about his world and its warfare.
“Well, firearms mostly. Though there are smaller knives and blunt weapons. Hunters might use bows.” said Scott.
“What’s a firearm?” asked Sonja. She had never heard of that sort of weapon.
Scott blinked at her. “Oh, you’ve never seen one have you?”
Sonja shook her head. “No, I don’t think so.”
“Have you ever seen a crossbow?” asked Scott.
“Ah, yes. I have seen those.” she said.
“Good, well remove the bow part and attack a metal tube atop the stock. The result is sort of like some types of fire arms.” replied Scott.
“Really? How do they even work?” she asked, a little confused by the design concept.

“Controlled explosions, does your world have cannons?” asked Scott.
“Ah, yes. We do have those, but only in some countries. They are hard to make I think.” said Sonja.
“Well, a firearm is basically a cannon except that it is small enough to carry it around. Modern ones can fire many times in the space of a single breath.” said Scott.
“Wow, no wonder swords aren’t used as often.” said Sonja. That certainly put things into perspective for her. If people ran around using rapid-fire cannons it would make it difficult to hit someone with a sword before you were rapidly torn apart.
“Yeah, they are used. But knives are more common since they can be wielded easier in tight quarters.” said Scott.
Sonja reached out and gently ran her fingers along the top of Scott’s skull. “Thank you for bringing me here. I have always wanted to see what some of those other worlds looked like.”
“You’re welcome. I would have called you sooner, but I did not think it would work until recently.” said Scott.
She smiled at him and he smiled at her. They continued to do nothing but smile at each other for a short time. Neither of them knew where to take the conversation after that point.
Eventually, Scott said, “We should get you out of your armor.”
Sonja’s eyes lit up. “Finally!”
“Hmm?” asked Scott. What did she mean by that? He discovered her meaning when she began to rapidly strip off her equipment.
“So, the bedroom was over here, right?” she said with excitement.
“Wait, wait, I think you misunderstand...” said Scott. Also, he was currently a dragon. That would be a rather awkward sort of thing to even contemplate.
Sonja sighed softly. “Oh, I suppose...”
Scott patted the couch and the saddened girl sat down obediently. Scott placed a gentle claw on her shoulder. “Why so eager?”
The bridge of Sonja’s nose took on a light pink shade. “I just want to prove my usefulness to you.”

He looked at her for a moment then shook his head. “Sonja, I’m sorry but we are not going to be doing anything like that, together.”
She turned to look at him. Her expression was one of sadness and disbelief. “What?”
She leaned forward and searched his inhuman eyes, “Why?”
Scott looked at her then reached over and took her hands between his clawed hand-like paws. “I am a goofy sort of person at heart. I will try to tell you this in all seriousness, alright?”
“Yes, please do.” Sonja’s eyes began to shimmer with rapidly forming tears.
He nodded at her. “You are a beautiful girl with a wonderful heart. Please know that, I think highly of you.”
A brief smile flickered across her face. “Thank you...”
“It is because I think highly of you that I cannot allow myself to give into your sweet offers.” said Scott.
“I don’t get it... You think highly of me, but won’t let me please you?” she asked, confusion evident upon her face.
He took a deep breath then slowly released it. Scott looked into her beautiful and shimmering eyes. “Who am I to you, Sonja?”
“You’re my master.” she said without even a hint of dislike for the concept. Whatever problems she had in the past, she had no issue serving him.
“That’s the problem. I am in a position of authority over you, a position reinforced by magic that will punish you if you go against my will. Do you understand?” said the dragon.
“No...” She bit her lower lip.
“Look, it’s my problem, not yours. You have done nothing wrong. I just can’t allow myself to take advantage of you like that.” said Scott.
She turned her head to the side. Tears slipped from her eyes then slid along her cheeks. She chewed on her lower lip and sniffed gently.
He squeezed her hands gently. “As long as you are my slave, I can’t let myself accept your offers no matter how tempted I am.”
“Is it because I am a whore...?” she asked with a tight voice.
“No. It is because you are not a whore.” said Scott.
She blinked then turned to look at him with wide and confused eyes. “But that’s how we met...”
Scott nodded. “You were forced into a horrible situation and did the one thing you legitimately had the ability to do. You are a survivor, not a whore. I refuse to treat you like one.”
The tears began to flow even more now. She shook her head. “I’ve never met a human like you before...”
Scott reached up and then rubbed his scaled cheek against hers. He did not correct her about his race. Honestly, he felt more like a man who could be a dragon than an actual dragon, since he was born human.
“I’ve never known a man who told me no as often as you do. I don’t know if I like it.” said Sonja with a teary-eyed smile.
“You like it.” said Scott before unleashing a cheesy draconic grin.
Sonja laughed then pulled her hands free of his claws. She wiped at her tears. “What about when I am no longer your slave? Once we are in the highlands I can be freed and you said that you would free me.”
“If you’re a free woman, you’re a free woman. Once I no longer have ownership of you, it will be your decision.” said Scott.
“Good to know...” said Sonja.
Scott saw her expression shift from a strange hybrid of happy and sad, to a perverse and predatory grin. “Should I be afraid for my future?”
Sonja laughed then placed the palm of her hand under her chin. One finger caressed her lower lip. “Terrified.”
“Good. I’ll buy booze and condoms. Maybe even spring for a bucket of fried chicken.” said Scott in a cheerful manner.
Sonja laughed once more. She did not know what a condom was but she liked his enthusiasm. Fried chicken also sounded nice.

Mabel's boss dabbled in awfully questionable business for the owner of an herb store, and she never blinked when he had suspicious-looking visitors. On one particular Sunday, though, Mabel couldn't help but watch the man leaving Herman's office with a critical eye. He reached a hand down to help her up, but Mabel swatted it away, standing on her own and scowling. "Don't call me 'Little One,' Death." She fired back, crossing her arms and straightening her back to look taller. "And, besides, you're the one who told me your name was Death, so what else am I supposed to call you?" The raspy growl that rolled from his throat didn't sound anything like a chuckle, but the slight smile on his face told her otherwise.
