《Elemental God》Chapter 7: Byranze

The smoky substances slowly solidified into the forms of Samjoko, Chunyong, and Bonghwang. Even though the two were bigger, just like the previous time that they had taken their ethereal forms, Chunyong and Bonghwang stationed themselves behind Samjoko in deference.
Seeing the three elementals, Byrael and Azela opened their eyes wide in shock. Their jaws kept opening and closing as they were lost for words. It wasn’t like I didn’t expect this… there has only been two people recorded in history to have three elemental, Azrael mused to himself.
Byrael couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Since what happened at the lake earlier, he had been expecting Azrael to pull out two elementals. He did, after all, use water and darkness spells. While he was waiting for his son to bring his elementals out, he had secretly been excited just at the mere thought of two. It was rare for people to have two elementals.
Not only did you have to have a really high affinity with both the elements, you needed a vast amount of mana as you were supplying twice as much mana since you had two elementals. Dual elemental mages were heavily sought after and Kingdoms fought over them, offering enticing terms to pull them to their side. His dream of their family rising in prestige wasn’t just a mere dream anymore.
Azrael, however, had three! There were only two people recorded in history of having three elementals and they both became legendary figures in history. Not only that, but particularly the azure dragon and bird seemed to be very high ranking as they had looked majestic with an aura of elegance that demanded homage.
“Th…three… three elementals?! You…you’re a tri elementalist?!?!”
After gaping and trying to speak for a while, Azela was finally able to blurt out what was on her mind. Like Byrael, she knew what it meant to have three elementals. She would have been happy if Azrael had just one elemental since he could do magic, but to have three?! (Azela didn’t see Azrael use water magic because of the darkness cloud covering all of them at the time.)
““Waaaaah!!!””
Suddenly two squeals of joy could be heard from above the second floor. Looking up, the twins Aurora and Azer were at the stairs and looking at the elementals with sparkling eyes. Being excited, they hurriedly descended down the stairs and stood in front of the elementals. While looking with amazement, Aurora suddenly seems to think of something and then goes by Azer and whispers to him. Azer, hearing what she said, nods in agreement.
After Aurora had gone back to where she was, the two of them then bow in unison. While smiling at the elementals, Aurora cheerfully introduces herself.
“Hello misters and miss animal, I am Aurora. Nice to meet you”
“Hello misters and miss animal, I am Azer. Nice to meet you”
While seeing those two bow and introduce themselves, Byrael, Azela, and Azrael look at them with disbelief. Slowly, however, their faces loosen, turns to a warm smile, and before long laughter. The elementals, opened their eyes in surprise when they were greeted so suddenly, before looking at them with warm glazes. The atmosphere earlier where the parents had been so shocked quickly disappeared and they collected themselves due to the acts of their twins. Seeing them, Azrael inwardly sighs in relief.

“Hello little ones, master’s parents. My name is Bonghwang”
“Hahaha nice to meet you too. I am Chunyong”
“Greetings. This one is called Samjoko”
One after another, the elementals introduced themselves. Seeing them introduce themselves, Byrael and Azela did the same. The two twins, seeing that greetings had been completed, quickly started talking to them.
“Misses Birdy, you’re really pretty!”
“Ho ho ho, why thank you little girl”
Aurora was fascinated with Bonghwang. Her eyes were sparkling and she was excitedly talking to her. Azer, on the other hand went immediately over to Chunyong.
“Wow!! So cool!!”
“I do look cool, don’t I? HAHAHAHA”
…Oi oi…. Did Chungyong always have this kind of personality? While Azrael was debating about this, he turned his head over to Samjoko who just slowly shaked his head. Byrael and Azela watched the two twins excitedly talking to the two elementals while laughing for a while before forcing the twins to go back to bed.
“NOOOO!!! I want to talk to Misses Birdy!!!”
“DAAAAAAAAAAAADDD but I was talking to Chungyong!”
Aurora and Azer struggled and complained the whole way, wanting to play with the elementals. Seeing his siblings’ behaviors made Azrael smile since it was really cute. Even as they went into their room, their protests could still be heard from inside the living room.
Seeing them leave, Azrael cancels the ethereal form of the three forms. Right now, he could supply mana to them for their ethereal form for close to thirty minutes now. The meditation to pure his mana had helped out a lot. He could cast spells and hold their ethereal forms for a lot less mana now since his mana could give more output and strength. (Basically how with better fuel, you can get more mileage, etc.)
Master, even though we saw them while inside of you, your parents and siblings really are kind and loving.
Haha, I agree Chungyong. I really am blessed to have been born to them.
….That was surprising. Seeing a human bow and be so happy to introduce themselves to an elemental…
Was it Bonghwang? Well I guess you three don’t have much interactions with humans, after all.
After waiting a few moments, his parents finally came back down. Both of them plumed down into the sofa with a tired expressions. After resting for a few minutes, Byrael finally sits back upright before speaking to his son.
“Hey son, do you know how amazin…”
“Haha yes dad, that’s why I hid it…”
“Ho…… anyways, are you planning on going to a Magic academy?”
“Yup, that’s the plan for now”
“What about your swordsmanship?”
“Of course I’ll continue to train in it even if I go”
Hearing that, Byrael’s face immediately brightens to a smile. Even though he knew that his son’s magic was so amazing and he knew it was greedy of him, he still wanted him to train in the warrior path also. Who wouldn’t want their son to follow on the same path as they did? Azrael also had a lot of potential, reaching Knight Rank even before he was eight years old. His talents easily surpassed his own at that age.

“Well luckily the city beside us has a magical testing center for young children. When you become eight, we’ll take you over there to test okay?”
“Sounds good dad”
“Alright then. You should head to bed too. It’s been a long day, you must be tired”
“Okay goodnight dad, mom!”
Saying that, Azrael went upstairs to his room. Even though he was indeed exhausted, he endured and immediately began meditating. With how he was right now, if someone as strong as those two from earlier or even strong came along, he wouldn’t be able to protect his family.
For the next six months, Azrael trained relentlessly to improve. Whenever he got tired, he would recall just how strong the hero ranked warrior and mage was that time. Vowing to become even stronger than them, he would stand back up and go at it with renewed vigor. Just one more swing, just one more mile, he kept saying that time himself and would push himself further.
Even though he didn’t improve that much physically, he was able to get a better grasp of the sword. The sword, however, couldn’t compare to his weapon in his previous life.
One day, while practicing swordsmanship, Azrael suddenly thought of his favorite weapon.
Hmmm…. Even though I have become a lot more proficient with the sword, nothing beats the double edged spear… When I go to the academy I should see if I can get one built...
Even though he thought like that, he still gave it his all during training. It wouldn’t be bad for him to be familiar with multiple weapons, after all.
Aurora and Azer, seeing their older brother train so hard at first was displeased. Since Azrael was so busy, he didn’t have as much time to play with them. Even when they complained to him about it, all he would do is show them a grin and say sorry but next time.
Soon afterwards, though they began to practice swinging with an invisible sword along with him so they could spend more time with him. Seeing such cute children focusing and yelling “yap!” every time they swung was filled him up with warmth. Ruffling their hair and telling them to don’t overdo it, with renewed strength he would practice harder.
Now that he didn’t have to hide it anymore, he also started to use magic around the house hold. Every night, while tucking in the twins, he would make a tiny fireball move around the room or water flow around the room as if it was a river. Aurora’s eyes especially shined brightly in amazement.
Peaking their interest in magic, they also started to ask him to teach them magic. After Aurora and Azer kept begging him for a week straight, he finally relented and taught them how to meditate. Since they hadn’t received their elemental yet, they couldn’t do magic, but still, they could at least start make their mana more pure.
“Aurora, Azer. Right now you cannot use magic”
“Why?!”
“Because Aurora, you two don’t have an elemental yet”
“What’s an elemental?”
“Remember misses birdy and the dragon?”
“”Aaah!””
“Haha yes, those two were actually my elementals. These elementals help you to cast a magic spell. There is, one thing that you can do to help you use magic later though. Do you two want to learn?”
““Yes!””
Nodding his head, Azrael began teaching them the meditation stance. Even though this was one of the highest forms in his previous life, it was very useful because anyone could do it. The only problem was finding the information on how to.
At first, nothing happened and they couldn’t feel the mana. When Aurora and Azer told him that, he nodded.
“Of course it’s not easy you two. It is going to take time and practice. When you meditate, try to feel the energy inside your body, it should be around your belly area”
Nodding, the two tried again. Truthfully Azrael didn’t think they would succeed. They were too young and didn’t have enough focus or willpower. The only reason he taught it to them right now was because they kept begging and this was the only thing they could at least try to do.
To his great shock though, after a while they did get the hang of it. After trying for two days, Aurora finally felt something while Azer, fueled with a competitive spirit, worked even harder and got it two days after that…..Maybe I was just the idiot who couldn’t feel their mana when I was a child… Shaking his head while laughing at that idea, Azrael congratulated the both of them and told them to keep doing it every day. While spending time with his family and training, time flew by too quickly for Azrael and it was finally the day for them to go get Azrael’s qualifications examined.
Right now, the sun was slowly rising. Byrael and Azrael were currently outside the house saying goodbye to Azela. It takes half a day of travel to reach Byzanre, the city where the mage test was being held. Since it would be an all week affair, they could have gone at any time but Azrael was curious about the standards in this world and wanted to go right away so they decided to go on the first day.
After kissing his mom on the cheeks, they finally set off. As there was a dirt road that connected to Byranze, the trek was easy and relaxed. While waving and greetings fellow travelers, they continued forward. A little after noon, after finally reaching the top of a hill, Byranze could be seen.
On the bend of a river, Tall marble walls along with towers at each corner appeared. They had arrived at Byranze.

Arthur, a young magician, is struggling with crippling social anxiety. The issue has reached a point where he likely won't graduate from University. Reaching a crossroads, he must decide whether to try and return to a family he despises or make his own path in the world. Is the magical power he has actually beneficial in the real world? Authors Note: I'm terrible at writing a synopsis, but over time I hope to write a better one. One of my favorite series of books is the Magicians by Lev Grossman and I hope to follow that same line of thinking within my story. How would a society built around magic actually exist and is power and magic actually as great as other stories make it out to be? The story and characters will be completely original and I will try to update the story on a regular basis. Also, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The Swarm
Anthony had been looking forward to playing the hottest new virtual reality game. When he put the VR helmet on he was met with a prompt asking him if he wanted to take a test to become a swarm knight. Thinking that this was one of the classes in the game he accepted. Instead of finding himself in the game, Anthony found that he was transported to a different planet. A planet where he would learn the greater truth of the universe. Everything was based on magic in the universe. Except that magic was based on nanorobots, called the swarm, that had been created through highly advanced technology. Genetics determined the access level and the amount of control that someone could wield over the swarm, and therefore their status in this society. Long ago Earth had been cutoff from the swarm. Now that it had been rediscovered, Earth would be reintegrated into the swarm. Unfortunately when that happened all the current technology on Earth would fail and be replaced with the ability to use magic. In effect, it would be the system apocalypse. As someone able to control the swarm, Anthony found himself in the unique position to influence how Earth was reintegrated into the swarm. Perhaps he could change things enough to save most of the people on Earth. But first he would have to learn how to control the swarm and become one of the leaders in the society he found himself in. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it somewhere between PG-13 and R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, and nudity.

Quirkless?
