《Predators Dungeon》Chapter 7” Monster Invasions”

Two days have passed since he opened himself up to the outside world. It was on the day after he opened his dungeon that monsters began to enter his dungeon. They just kept finding in entrance, while it did shoot his mana and dp regeneration up. It was still weird how they just kept on coming, seemingly out of nowhere. Luckily, they were all low-level monsters, so they weren’t that strong since as soon one of them encountered one of his monsters, they were immediately torn to pieces.
On the upside, he could finally see his core ability truly take effect. Until now all he could see was that the badger’s claws and sense of smell increased because they ate the moles that lived on the floor. They were even gaining new skills and physical attributes, like a badger after killing and eating a beast called a “Lesser Giant Boar” gained a new active skill called “Charge”, and its passive skill “Thick Skin” grew by a hole two levels. But not just that, after consuming the boar the badger instinctively tried to find a peaceful place to sleep. While sleeping its body began changing, two of its teeth began growing bigger, and angling themselves so they point outside its mouth creating two tusks like those on the “Lesser Boar”. Looking at its status he saw that there was a new skill called “Sharp Tusks”. Well, now he knew how his core ability worked on his monsters.
Now and then a kill of an invading monster would give him a new pattern, and some experience. Everything in his dungeon was gaining levels including him. He was slowly making his way to level 5. He wondered what would happen once he reached D rank.
But that was for the future. Right now, he had an invading monster thing going on. He knew he should be worried about the constant invasions but, seeing that his monsters, mainly the badgers, were easily taking care of them as soon as they entered. He decided to look at his other creatures to see how they were dealing with the new monsters that are entering his dungeon.
He started with the badgers, as they were the ones who were taking care of the invading monsters.

It would seem their numbers had gone up. From the meager 6 he originally summoned; they had increased to 15 individuals, who were constantly patrolling their territory. Because of the constant invasions, their appearances were some of the most affected by his core ability out of everyone. Not one of them were truly alike. Some of them had tusks others had elongated ears, a few of them even had scales from when they were able to eat a kobold. One of them seems to have gotten an interest in one of the ore veins and was guarding it fiercely. While that last one was interesting there were still other things to look at.
Moving on he decided to look at the kobold village, yes village. They had been organizing their cave well. They had dug it out so now it is twice the size it just to be. They had created a hierarchy, that separated them into different living areas dependent on what job they have. The further into the cave you are the higher the ranking you had in the hierarchy, and the bigger a private cave you are allowed to dig out for yourself.
Closest to the exit out to the rest of the dungeon were the “Gatherers”, they were the ones who scoured the dungeon for eatable mushrooms and plants. This was the safest job as they could just sneak away from danger if necessary. This also meant that they were of the lowest level in the entire tribe. Which was also why there weren’t that many members in this group, they all wanted to be higher in the ranking.
Next were the “Diggers”. Ever since the ore vein was discovered a new group was created for the singular purpose of digging out more ore for the higher rank to enjoy. The glowing ore seemed to hypnotize them. This was an appreciated position, but it was not respected as they were all capable of digging, they just didn’t want to waste their time doing it. They were slowly increasing in level as some of the beast on the floor were getting an interest in the ore veins and so the diggers had to remove them one way or the other.

The “Egg layers” were the only single-gender group in the entire tribe. Their sole job was to mate with the strongest males in the tribe. The only one who may lay freely with them were the chieftain, the headhunter and the strongest warrior. All others had to earn a chance to mate with the females through either defeating a strong monster or by challenging and defeating a kobold of a higher rank in combat.
Only the most fertile females were in this group to produce as many eggs as possible. While they were all of a low level, they were still higher than the Diggers and Gatherers as they were the reason the tribe was growing at such a pace.
“Hunters”, they were the backbone of their entire tribe, they were some of the highest-level Kobolds in the entire tribe. They were the group with the highest number of members. Their job was to gather food for the entire tribe, they mostly hunted small beast and if they felt daring enough, they would every so often try themselves with hunting a badger. They wielded copper spears gathered from the chests around the dungeon.
Warriors, they were the strongest, the elite of the tribe. They were the ones who defend the village when the other monsters come too close. Because of this, they were the absolute highest-level members of the tripe. They were littered with scars, from their battles with the other monster on the floor. They wielded a variety of weapons collected from the chest around the dungeon.
“Chieftain”, the only group with a single member. He was bigger and smarter than the others, and at the same time, he was the highest-level member of the tribe. He was hunched over, his powerful arm muscles bulging weighing him down. He wielded a massive two-handed battle-ax, the only one they had ever been able to find.
He was consuming mostly badgers, which was why he was so muscular. The kobolds had gotten an idea about how the dungeon's core ability worked, and they used it. For every badger he ate, his muscles would increase in strength. His teeth and claws would sharpen and strengthen. Under his scales a small tough layer of skin was beginning to form, giving him a defense against both piercing and slashing attacks. Besides giving orders to the rest of the tripe and hunting monsters to increase his level, he spends most of his time mating with his exclusive “Egg layers”.
The kobolds were growing in strength, the more organized they became the more powerful they were. Where before, the badgers could wipe the floor with them. Now, their top warriors can fight at equal footing with them.
Seeing this he decided to summon a few more badgers, just to be sure that the kobold didn’t kill too many of them.
Moving on to his last monster on this floor the Giant Centipedes. Their number has increased from 3 to 6, a good jump in numbers. They had been busy digging tunnels for themselves. Almost Everywhere you went on the floor there would be a giant hole that lead into their tunnel network. They had by themselves increased the total surface area of the floor by half of what it used to be. They were still the strongest creatures on the floor, even as the other monsters were growing in level and gaining new abilities. So was the Centipedes also growing in strength, nothing could stand against them. Only when 4 badgers grouped would they be able to stand a chance against them. But then there would be food enough for everyone.
An interesting observation that he made which surprised him. Was that one of the centipedes had dug through one of the ore veins and consumed some of the ore. After this, a noticeable sheen was on its carapace. His core ability could not just give his monsters, the abilities, and attributes of other monsters. But also, the attributes from different materials, that they consumed. This shook him, so many options were now available to him. Ideas for his next floor was beginning to form. When suddenly a message sounded out in front of him.

I lived in India from 1984-2005, and wrote to my parents regularly about my adventures in Indian ashrams.
