《I Come From The Water》18: Don't Ask

(Lave POV)
We sat around the lake we were at earlier today. Amice and Gran where asleep leaning against some trees. I sat at the waters edge examining my newly filled eye drop vile. The cloudy purple mixture swirled in the container looking very toxic. Usually its brown in color. I thought in dismay. Well either it will work really well or it will kill me. I sighed while placing it in one of my pouches. Its probable purple because of that claim shell.
Actually thinking about it now, when this was first developed there where several accidents where people became permanently blind or burned their eyes out. I shuddered. If its poisonous I hope it kills me. I don't want to feel my eyes burn to dust while I'm alive.
Well I'll worry about that tomorrow. I dipped my toes in the water and laid back on the grass to gaze at the moon. While we where running from town I forced Gran to tell me the names of things. Unfortunately I only remember at most half of the words.
I tapped my finger in annoyance while letting out a sigh. To be honest I was hoping to avoid doing this but its becoming a problem. Granted it won't really help me learn the entire language, there is no guarantee it will actually work, and it makes me feel incredible sick afterwards. However I will be able to make basic conversation. Hopefully.
Well its worth a try I'm not really patient enough to learn a language the traditional way anyways. Getting up I swam to the deepest part of the lake. Taking my mermaid form I dived under to the bottom of the lake and sat down on a rock. The water was pitch black around me as if I was surrounded by a curtain.

I pulled out a bottle labeled 'Punch'. It was a joke name I put on it so no one knew what it was. This thing has been band from use since the nineteen hundreds. Cost me a pretty penny to get it too. Its what people who claimed to be prophets would use to have 'visions'. Basically what is does is make you run through everything thats happened for the past week. Over and over again until it wears off. I grimaced.
“Well bottoms up.” I took a gulp of the liquid and relaxed. This will be one hell of a ride. Images and noises flashed around me as if playing on ten different movie screens. Each a different scene from this week. Over and over it played until the memories from this week became jumbled and mixed. Noise turned to distinct sounds. Faces blurred and distorted.
Hours pasted and distinct sounds turned to words. I was no longer sure what was english and what wasn't. Conversations that I shouldn't have understood repeated. After what felt like an eternity it stopped. The visions ended. The world shifted sharply as I fell off my rock.
“Ugh, never again.” I groaned as I unsteadily sat up. The water was lighter now. Fish hovered around watching me from a distance wondering what I was doing. My head is pounding! Goddess I hope this worked. I slowly swam my way to shore transforming back into my human form. Reaching the bank I coughed up water and collapsed. I swear if this doesn't work I will kill the guy who sold me this.
Steps sounded out in front of me on the grass. Each stomp an agonizing reminder that my brain was unhappy with me. “Lave?” Called a quite voice of concern. I scowled. Her voice was the one I heard the most over the week. Her pension for one sided conversations made it so there was never a moment of silence.

A hand touched the middle of my back trying to get my attention. Go away! Your making my head ache worse. “Are you feeling ok?” I froze. Did I just understand her? I looked up to see Amice frowning in concern. “Does your ራስ hurt?” Ho, it worked. Well mostly. You may live another day black market dealer.
“Why are you even asking? You know she doesn't understand you.” Asked Gran as he wondered over here.
“I believe that through the power of love my words will reach her.” Amice replied heatedly clasping her hands in front of her. Did she just say the power of love? Are we in a movie or something. 'The power of love will overcome all!' “How are you feeling Lave?” Concern apparent in her eyes.
Sitting up I scooted away from a delusional Amice. Thanks but I'm not going to join your little fantasy world. “Fine.” I replied while getting up fully. The world swayed but I still managed to stand.
Amice gasped. “You can understand me?” She asked excitedly.
“No.” I began walking down the mountain to the road.
“Gran! She can understand me!” Amice exclaimed while hopping up and down in excitement. “I told you that my love would get through to her!” I picked up the pace hoping to get away before things got to heated.
“Um, sure?” Gran just looked confused. Well I guess it would be strange if someone woke up one day and could speak the language. Wait why can I understand her strange sentences? I should only understand the words that have been said around me a lot. Does she alway speak like this?
“Now she can her me praise her beautiful snowy red hair that flows majestically as she walks. Her brilliant blazing eyes that will shine with a thirst to kill at any moment. That smile...” I threw a knife at her unconsciously as I shuddered. “Ah, Lave why would you do that?” She scares me. This is the first time I have ever meet someone like this. Have I really been traveling with her for the past five days?
She picked up the knife and looked at it with bright eyes. “Now you can tell me all about you. What is your family like? Do you have any friends? How about a b...” I threw another dagger at her which she dogged.
“Amice I think it would be best if you stopped.” Gran reasoned.
“What are you talking about?” Amice took a step towards me. “”Look she is so happy to understand me that she is throwing daggers.” She replied with a bright innocent smile. My skin crawled as I started running. Unfortunately that was the trigger for her to chase after me like a wild animal. “Where are you going Lave?” Her smile growing bigger as we ran.
“Did you want to play another game of tag like when we first meet?” She skipped over branches gaining on me as I somehow managed to trip over every single one. “This is so much fun!” I don't want to be in this world anymore! Take me home!

Nameless Hypocrite
"Bastard, surrender yourself!" "You think you can escape our encirclement?!" "An omnicidal fiend like you can only atone in death!" Despite his precarious situation, a young man ignored the union's provocations. His violet robe was in tatters, showing the incredible number of attacks he received, yet there was no sign of injury. Noticing the light smile tugging at his lips, the pursuing heroes warily watched him, cautious of a final attack. It was only by working together that they could corner a monster like him. An arrow pierced the air, beelining towards the young man. A malicious gleam revealed itself in his eyes; he unsheathed his sword, a long, curved blade, and deflected the projectile, spiking it into the ground. The archer's eyes widened before being split in two. He died suddenly and indignantly. The group backed away; their former confidence diminished greatly by the invisible counter. It was then that the young man sighed, his voice full of lament and self-pity. "Being a saint truly is difficult, even the world cannot understand my righteous actions." The expressions of the surrounding heroes turned ugly. Such blatant hypocrisy! Yes, the protagonist is a villain. We don't do morals here. New chaps when I write them
