《Monstrous (First Draft)》Ch9. Threads

The mixture was almost nearing completion, I retrieved a section of the flesh vine and squeezed out a crimson liquid into the pot. Using my finger I stirred it until it liquidated a bit more. Then I grabbed some of the fledgling's rib bones and placed them into the pot along with my hand. I applied a slight pressure and willed them to change. They slowly started to shrink until they were barely a quarter of their original size. I pulled my hand out and opened it to inspect my work, four small black blades sat on my hand each with different characteristics. I had specifically designed them to help with carving the totem.
I turned my attention to the tortured tree beside me, faces covered the bark all in different states of agony. I reached out and snapped off a piece of it. I took my knife and shaved the piece down into four pieces of wood. Next, I grabbed one of the small blades and began carving them into handles. After they were completed I set the blades in place. My totem was going to be made out of a devouring tree, a tree that contained animal bones, this tree will focus the surrounding energy and contain it in its bark.
I grabbed my new tools and began to work, there were thirty different symbols needed to complete it. Each symbol didn’t really have to be anything, in particular, I just needed to make sure a certain intent was put behind it. Under practiced movements, a deer, bear, and eagle started to form. With steady hands I began the second to last step, carving out the eyes. With careful strokes, I meticulously carved them out one by one.
After that was finished I prepared the final step, the war paint. I gathered a few different herbs and placed them into three piles that each respectively would make one of three colors, red, gold, and green. I carefully picked up the red pile and placed it in a wooden bowl. I placed my hand over it and willed the moisture out, once that was finished I took a stone pestle and grounded them up into a fine powder. I reached out and grabbed a handful of the black viscous liquid in front of me and placed it into the bowl.

I quickly began rapidly stirring the mixture while infusing mana into it, after a few minutes it was completed. A bowl of blood-red paint sat in front of me. Grabbing the brush I made from deer hair I began to spread the red liquid onto the bear. With smooth strokes, I heavily placed it around the eye cavities and nose. Once that was done I moved on to the other paints. After the same process they were done, I placed the gold on the eagle and the green on the deer.
With the totem finished I needed to make the ceremonial clothing. I usually would have waited to gather more trophies but the pseudo deer will do. I took out its hide and began to magically process it. I carefully spread strands of mana into it. With precision I slowly started interlacing them, creating a sort of weave. Next, I grabbed a glob of black liquid and spread it evenly on the underside which turned the fur on top into a darker shade of brown.
I turned my attention to the cloaks and started to connect them, but I soon realized a problem, it would be too short. I wanted something that would cover my entire body, including my feet, when I stood at my full height. Plus a patchwork of a cloak is slightly disrespectful in my opinion. So I decided to break them into threads and create my own from scratch. With a bit of effort, I had a pile of black thread in front of me. Since I already had them broken down I decided to strengthen them.
I hadn’t planned on doing this so I didn’t have the usual materials but I could still create something. I would have used the black strengthening mixture but it's too volatile and would destroy the string. Then again I could still use it if there was something that only temporarily strengthened them, and I just so happened to have the needed flesh vine and six-leaved twilight flower. The ingredients will also add a slight menacing red hue. I grabbed the twilight flower and began to grind it without extracting the moisture. Soon I had a small amount of a silvery liquid, I grabbed a piece of the vine and squeezed out the red liquid into it.

Once the piece was completely drained I peeled off the outer skin and placed it into a separate bowl in preparation to grind it down. Once it was a fine powder I added it to the silvery red liquid, turning it a deep red. With a wave of my hand, the liquid rose from the bowl and with a beckon, the threads rose like entranced serpents. They slowly slithered through the hovering liquid turning them a deep crimson. With my direction they turned and entered the strengthening mixture, a potent steam rose out with a hiss. The steam leaked out steadily until it suddenly stopped, the threads were done.

The Deathseeker [Under Revision]
NOTE: This story has dark elements, but it's neither grimdark nor particularly edgy. It's also currently being revised. Satan's Axe...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...The Gods' Retribution. Dalric had many names. None were as fitting as his last, Dalric the Deathseeker. Born from an unwanted mating between the greatest warriors of the time, death was his only true kin. It birthed him, molded him, and now standing in the middle of a lifeless battlefield, it drenched him. The blood of thousands of soldiers soaked his skin. Two hundred thousand men approached him that day. All of them sought his life, none of them left with theirs. But they would not die in vain, they had accomplished their mission. Hidden beneath a thousand layers of their blood, was Dalric's very own. Feeling his life fade, he gazed weakly at his work. A seemingly endless array of corpses laid battered and disfigured before him. Some bore faces of horror, most had no face at all. His most trusted companion floated in front of him, blocking the view. Waves of sorrow flowed between them. “My time has finally come. I’ve begged for death and it’s finally arrived. My work is done...and so is yours. You’re free to be who you were meant to.” With his contract with the gods fulfilled, they were truly free. The centuries of torment would end. No longer would they have to walk the path of a monster. Little did Dalric know, the devil was in the details. What To Expect: A good time. In a few more words than that, a cast of believable characters in a unique world dealing with conflicts and problems a little bit more complex than punching the big evil guy in the face. Just a little though. Minimum Word Count a Week: 5000 Release Time(s): Between Friday 12pm EST and Monday 6am EST I also write A King in the Clouds

Rise of a Scarlet Devil (Regular+Draft Version)
A young girl slain during a war was brought back to life by some unknown force millennia later. She could only remember a vague face within her memories, uncertain as to who it was but there was one thing she did know. She needed to kill that person. But she was too weak, she needed to hide, to grow. She needed to flee from the battlefield her enemy reigns over. And to do so, she needed to run eastward, towards Helios, a safe haven for those who have lost their homes in the war. And where she would grow to become the strongest Hunter under her own strength. What was it that brought her back? Only time will tell. #Author's Note The novel is organized like this:Regular Chapters (Act, Title, Part (ranging from 1 to 9))Draft Chapter DisclaimerDraft Chapters (Entry Number, Perspective, Title, Part (ranging from i to ii)) Regular chapters are edited chapters that reflect the story aspect more while Draft chapters reflect plot progression more. An occasional interactive chapter will appear in the drafts but nowhere in the regular chapters. Expect changes when reading between Regular and Draft chapters as some events in the story may change in length or entirely removed/changed. Only read the draft version if you want a future view and/or opinion on the story and design elements. The main character is a human from a fantasy world reincarnated as a devil. The story possesses Reincarnators, Transmigrators, and Summoned Persons. though mainly focusing on Magic and other abilities such as Aura and Skills. Wizards (those who prepare arcane spells) and Mages (those who use elemental magic) are separate but seen as the same by common inhabitants of the world but clearly defined as different by more influential persons and by the circles themselves. The main character WILL not be a Mage or Wizard but will incorporate mana into her attacks to aid her as does any high-rank combatants. The system in the novel quantifies a person's abilities and keeps record of them but does not define natural ability, occasionally granting special abilities as skills to a person once prerequisites are met. There is no leveling system and no occupational systems in the novel featuring only a stat based and skill based system. Also, this novel is my first and will most likely be trash.

Super Sekken (An Action Shonen Story)
This is the author’s first story ever written. It may not be great, but do check it out, and I hope you enjoy! I’m currently working on its sequel. Hope. Courage. Self-value. Friends. These all were traits that former junior high soccer champion and first year Miyuki Sekken had none of until she first walked into the doors of her local High School. Despite being a sports athlete phenomenon in her school district, Miyuki dreaded its attention, and even quit her career in pursuit of living a simplistic daily routine. This daily routine would be inevitably interrupted when she chooses to 'branch out' by talking to people. Whether it be a chance of bad luck, fate, or karma, Sekken ends up speaking to someone who was unknowingly suffering from a curse: a curse that causes anyone who tries to get close to them to disappear. Miyuki Sekken would be the next victim, finding herself face-to-face against a once-thought mythical mafia. This gang is not just any gang either, but one who is run solely by the school students of Maguro High, who hold secrets to powers unheard of by the world. How will this first year survive? Will she conquer her anxiety and thwart the gang's vicious rule? Or will she end up losing more than she could have imagined? P.S. I am not a good drawer, so I use Picrews and photo editors to get the general idea for my characters' designs. Rights to the Picrews used go to their respective authors.
