《Binary Progression》Volume 1 - Chapter 16: Trolling on the high seas
Advertisement
The party was walking down the path through the gloomy forest, the trees and bushes gradually disappeared until they reached the large rolling mounds of the rolling plains, when they entered the zone JohnWillStab became a little nervous, the monsters in that zone would have no problems killing him, although that was back when was without his armour.
"Bonifacius: The JGuardians are located in a large settlement in the centre of Highfall, we should be able to make it there within thirty minutes."
"JohnWillStab: They own a settlement?"
"Bonifacius: With enough players and the right skills you can build houses and whatnot wherever you wish as long as it is not on the main road or within a town."
"JohnWillStab: I don't see many houses around..."
"XxFoxlyxX: Most players opt to live in an instanced home - meaning it's one building where multiple players can live at the same time, think of it as different phases of the same room."
"JohnWillStab: So, in theory, you can build a town?"
"Bonifacius: Indeed - you can create many things! Towns, cities, farms and even castles!"
"XxFoxlyxX: You can also destroy those, even the official cities aren't off-limits."
"Bonifacius: You mean a town could be destroyed?"
"XxFoxlyxX: It's temporary, the NPCs will begin "repairs" an hour after the fighting stops - it's still inconvenient though."
The party was walking through the zone while in the distance ♕ was watching...
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE THESE IDIOTS DOING?! WE WENT TO ONE DUNGEON AND THEY GO AND STORM THE FUCKING SERVER-POLICE BASE!?!?!" ♕ though realizing that this might be her last chance to intervene before they get into trouble with JGuardians.
"How was I supposed to know they'd pull something like this?!"
"...Hold on... I told them I'd be leaving... I specifically said I have to leave before "they" get me..."
♕'s previously innocent perception of their actions became corrupted the more she dwelled on it "Those bastards must have realised what I did, they're trying to get me to confess I tried to trap them! YEAH!"
"We'll see who breaks first! Go ahead, storm the JGuardians if you want, I don't care!"
Amidst the internal struggle, the party left, ♕ tried to find them on the map but since she was no longer part of the party they were impossible to track, even the cheating software couldn’t find them.
The party was running through one of the bush-jungles of the rolling plains, the leaves and branches making it impossible to see anything clearly.
Despite the poor vision the sound of something chasing them was enough motivation to blindly run forwards, at least for JohnWillStab.
"JohnWillStab: Are you guys sure about this?!"
"Bonifacius: Tis risky, but alas we must taketh the shortcut, lest we make it too late!"

"JohnWillStab: You're right!"
"XxFoxlyxX: Yeah, we'll be taking the river route, right?"
"Bonifacius: Indeed!"
"JohnWillStab: ?"
"Bonifacius: A river's current will move you faster than if thy walk!"
"JohnWillStab: ...hold on, we're going to swim there?!"
By the time JohnWillStab took his eyes off the text-box, he found himself running off a steep hill towards a deep river filled with rocks and splashing water.
Both Bonifacius and JohnWillStab followed, a humanoid about two or three times the size of JohnWillStab jumped into the water after them, his nose was large and his two bottom teeth stuck out like tusks.
The body of the creature was covered in hair and patches of grey skin could be seen under it.
"Bonifacius: So we were followed by a bush troll!"
The four crashed into the water, the troll dying on impact thanks to an unfortunately rocky landing.
"XxFoxlyxX: It's going to get a bit rough from here, bois!"
As the three players and one troll-corpse moved with the river, the course of said river came into view, and in many ways, it resembled a rollercoaster, namely in that JohnWillStab didn't want to be on it and he’s fairy certain it’s going to result in his death.
That's when an idea came to JohnWillStab's.
"JohnWillStab: GET ONTO THE TROLL!"
"XxFoxlyxX: S#!t, that's an awesome idea!"
The three swam in the opposite direction of the river's current and when they were close enough to the corpse, they jumped onto it.
"Bonifacius: I happen to be prepared for this situation!"
"JohnWillStab: What do you mean by that?"
Bonifacius' character equipped a black pirate's hat.
"XxFoxlyxX: lol, hold up!"
XxFoxlyxX's character started playing the craft animation for a solid two minutes before finally placing the item - it was a piece of wooden flooring, big enough for everyone to stand on but not bigger than the troll.
"JohnWillStab: A floor?"
"XxFoxlyxX: That's just the beginning!"
XxFoxlyxX placed a long wooden pole, then attached a sail to it.
"JohnWillStab: ..."
"XxFoxlyxX: It's from a summer event - you fight off an army of pirates and in return, you can get these wood-working blueprints and decoration - though I don’t have the carpentry profession so these are temporary!"
JohnWillStab expected XxFoxlyxX to have gotten these items whilst in a pirate roleplaying guild.
"Bonifacius: This truly is a great adventure!"
"JohnWillStab: Yeah!"
The hills and beaches around the river became flatter and lower until they revealed a large forest of tall, bushy, leafy trees with golden leaves, the river slowed down drastically and was now gently pushing the party forward.
"XxFoxlyxX: Well, we made it to Highfall"
"Bonifacius: True, but the river will take us directly to the base."
As they slowly sailed their "ship", a group of three players sitting down and seemingly enjoying a picknick was glaring at them.

"Sleyes: ...What the f*#k are you guys doing!?"
"XxFoxlyxX: Mind your business, Kyle!"
"Sleyes: Foxly..."
"JohnWillStab: You know him?"
"XxFoxlyxX: So remember that Viking roleplay I told you about?"
"JohnWillStab: Yes...?"
XxFoxlyxX pointed towards the group, JohnWillStab looked over to them realising that they were getting into the water, one of them was casting some sort of spell before a wooden longboat appeared (kind of like how the cart faded in from nothingness)
"XxFoxlyxX: Var kan jag hitta någon som talar engelska!"
"Sleyes: YOU ALWAYS DO THIS S#*T FOXLY! YOU HONESTLY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS DO YOU?!"
"Bonifacius: The waters are picking up speed!"
"XxFoxlyxX: I don't think we'll get away without a fight..."
"Sleyes: You can bet your froggy a$$ we can't!"
XxFoxlyxX moved to the front of the ship and placed a wooden steering-wheel,
"XxFoxlyxX: Bony, you're the captain! John, help me sink their ship!"
"Sleyes: I can hear you, a$%holes!
"XxFoxlyxX: Jag blir nervös när jag ska tala svenska."
"Sleyes: Alright, Steven, start attacking!"
"BangGanger68: Aaight."
Out of nowhere a hatchet flew out and became planted in the wall wooden pole aboard Bonifacius's ship.
JohnWillStab retaliated by throwing knives at the enemies with the use of Blade Throw
Knives and hatchets filled the air, some fell into the water, others hit the boats.
XxFoxlyxX stood to on side of the ship, seemingly staring off into the distance.
"Bonifacius: WE'RE TURNING TO THE RIGHT!"
"XxFoxlyxX: you mean turning starboard!"
As the troll ship turned almost ninety-degrees Foxxly faces the enemy ship, now they could see that he was casting a spell this whole time, a ball of seals was suspended above his palm, he targeted the enemy ship and cast the spell - it flew towards them hitting the back of the ship and causing the guy in the back to explode into meaty chunks.
"BangGanger68: You killed MRAdamski!"
"Sleyes: That son of a b!#ch!"
XxFoxlyxX turned around playing the /rude emote and shouted: "XxFoxlyxX: Min svävare är full med ålar!" before casting another ball of seals (a smaller one this time) and shot the boat causing it to break apart.
Slowly the large stone towers and walls of the JGuardians base came into view - the river slowed down almost completely as it joined up with a lake where the troll's corpse de-spawned leaving only the wooden raft with the pole and steer, which immediately tipped over skinking down into the murky depths.
XxFoxlyxX walked out of the water and sat down on the rocky beach of the lake looking back to the bubbles coming from the sinking wreck.
"XxFoxlyxX: That was a close one!"
Bonifacius emerged out of the water next,
"Bonifacius: Indeed, though it was a thrilling fight!"
"XxFoxlyxX: Where's John though?"
"Bonifacius: ..."
"XxFoxlyxX: ..."
Chunks of meat and bones floated up to the surface followed by several blood particles.
"Bonifacius: ..."
"XxFoxlyxX: ..."
"XxFoxlyxX: You don't think he got crushed by the boat?"
"Bonifacius: Undead can't float after all..."
XxFoxlyxX rushed over to the water, he picked up the chunks of meat and carried them to the beach.
"XxFoxlyxX: It's going to be alright John! We'll put you back together!"
XxFoxlyxX started arranging the meaty bits into the shape of a human.
"Bonifacius: ...Foxly, that does not resemble JohnWillStab..."
"XxFoxlyxX: Now that you mention it... yeah it looks a bit off...."
"Bonifacius: "A bit off?" this is clearly half of an ogre placed next to half of a wolfman!"
"XxFoxlyxX: ..."
"XxFoxlyxX: What would happen if we resurrected them like this?"
A pink-feathered harpy walked out - she was wearing mid-level mage robes and had vibrant red hair tied into two ponytails.
"Revenberry: Hey! Have you guys seen two players around here? We're doing a quest that has us looking for clams in the bottom of the lake, but they aren't replying to me..."
XxFoxlyxX cast an explosion spell onto the jigsaw puzzle of corpse-chunks scattering them everywhere.
"Revenberry: What the heck!?"
"XxFoxlyxX: Sorry, sorry - it was a crab!"
"Revenberry: A... crab? In a fresh-water lake?"
"XxFoxlyxX: It's a fantasy game, get over it!"
"Revenberry: Uh-huh... imma just... leave..."
"Revenberry: If you happen to see the two guys, could you deliver a message from me?"
"Bonifacius: No worries, we shall offer your condolences."
"Revenberry: ?"
"XxFoxlyxX: HE MEAN CONDIMENTS!"
"Revenberry: Condiments? Like... sauces?"
"XxFoxlyxX: You're looking for clams, right?! They're great with BBQ sauce!"
"Revenberry: They're for a quest!"
"XxFoxlyxX: You can throw in a condiment with any food-based quest for extra XP!"
"Revenberry: Seriously?!"
"XxFoxlyxX: Yep, but they only sell those in the Azure forest! You'd best hurry up!"
"Revenberry: Alright! Thanks for the tip!"
"XxFoxlyxX: Any time!"
The harpy ran off, later breaking into flight, heading over to buy sauce that didn't exist for a non-existent cause.
Bonifacius looks at XxFoxlyxX with disappointment in his eyes.
"XxFoxlyxX: It was a white lie!"
"Bonifacius: Are thou sure? I do not believe we should have resorted to lying..."
"XxFoxlyxX: A necessary evil - that aside... where is JohnWillStab?"
Bonifacius glanced at the map seeing that JohnWillStab was in fact still in the water.
