《Binary Progression》Volume 1 - Chapter 33: Issac

John was speechless, the question didn't register, so much so that he had to ask: "I'm sorry, what?"
Issac replied without hesitating, "I was planning on staying over at a local hotel, but they said they don't have me on record, so I was going to drive back home... but somebody stole my car." He explained meekly, sounding as if he was on the verge of tears.
"And you decided that the reasonable thing to do in that situation... is to ask to stay at my house?" John was standing there wide-eyed.
"I'm really sorry! I know you aren't really a fan of... your fans, but please!"
John tried to act cold around people, that usually gets them off his back, but wasn't a psychopath.
If the blond guy decided to ask around for a room in this area he'd get killed for sure.
"Can't you catch a bus or something?"
"The bus timetable said they only come in the morning," he explained.
John let out a loud sigh.
"Look, if you promise to stay quiet I'll let you stay the night, you'll have to sleep in the living room though."
Issac moved his thumb and index finger over his lips as if he was zipping his mouth closed.
John opened his door letting Issac see his the interior of his house, it was a complete mess, nothing was broken, no cracks in the walls or anything, everything was just filthy.
"My god this place is a mess..."
"It beats getting mugged on the streets..." John replied.
A look of fear appeared on Issac's face, not at the idea of sleeping outside but at the idea he might have offended John.
"I'm sorry, that sounded a bit rude."
John shrugged, "If I'd have cared for what people think about my house I'd clean it."

Issac entered the hallway, he started taking his shoes off and placed them neatly against the wall next to the door.
"Food-wise I can offer you noodles. That's about it..." John explained.
"I'm fine, thanks!"
"Suit yourself, the bathroom is on the left, next to the kitchen - do NOT drink the tap water, one of my neighbours managed to refine a solid chunk of lead from it in about a week."
"That sounds very illegal," Issac replied.
"Think of this neighbourhood as Somalia, laws are more of a suggestion than a rule."
"Doesn't it terrify you to live here?!"
"Not particularly, the guys here are actually pretty nice when you get to know them, and the not-so-nice ones agreed that it's good to have a 'passive' resident like myself."
John led Issac to his living room, a large TV stood against the wall, a large balcony stood outside a glass door. Several shelves with photos and awards lined the walls.
A green, foldable couch that could be made into a bed stood opposite to the TV.
The room was dusty, but otherwise perfectly clean.
"Woah! Is this where you keep the awards?"
"I have some in my room, but I'd rather not talk about it,"
Issac remembered his promise not to talk and immediately stopped pushing the topic, though he couldn't contain every question he had.
"So what have you been doing for the last few years!?" Issac asked,
"Playing games, it's what I said I was going to do," John replied coldly.
"Did you play Wormcraft 3?!"
"M-hm, classic."
"Age of emperor?"
"Mmm-hm, awesome PVP."
"Heroes of Mighty Magics?"
"All of them, best soundtrack in any game."
"So what are you playing now?"

"Oh, it's nothing specific..." John didn't want anybody he knew to join the game.
"Come one! I won't tell anyone!" he pleaded.
"I'm just playing some old MMO."
"..."
"What?"
"You're playing an MMO..."
"Yes."
"Can I join?" Issac asked straight-faced.
"LIKE HELL!"
"Why not!?"
"Because in case you didn't notice, I'm avoiding you people!" John exclaimed.
"I'm really sorry about what happened! But I wasn't part of it!" Issac explained.
John took a deep breath and sighed slowly.
"If you think of me highly in any anyway, drop the subject."
A very tense few seconds passed.
"Did you consider going back to making videos?" he finally asked.
"...what kind of fucking question is that, no, of course not!"
"The whole thing has blown over!"
"I don't care, do you know the trouble that situation caused me and my family."
"Some fucking friends you lot were once a few news sites show an out-of-context image."
"I didn't make the bodily fluid comment up, some guy kept sending bottles of piss to my house."
"I'm sorry," Issac finally replied.
"God, you just don't know when to drop a subject, do you?" he asked with a hidden chuckle.
John went to the kitchen and prepared a cup of noodles for himself.
"If you find the game yourself, that's your business, but don't expect me to party-up with you." he relented, acting coldly towards people was really taxing on John, the truth is that John was well acquainted with his fans, he referred to them as "friends" whenever he'd make a video, so after the controversy, John felt betrayed more than anything.
JohnWillStab made his way back to his computer, logged into the game and saw that only Bromy was online.
"Bromy: Oh, it's you, corpse..."
"JohnWillStab: Sorry to disappoint, T^T"
"Bromy: Nevermind that, come help me out, I need to fix your pet."
"JohnWillStab: Jerry?!"
"Bromy: Yeah, he's more of a... Jerry-paste now."
JohnWillStab activated his sprint spell and started running across the beach which was no longer covered in blood and corpses.
"JohnWillStab: I'm coming!"

Keys of the Endpoint
Keys of the Endpoint is an illustrated web serial about the re-birth of civilization in a fantastical world suffering from a recent apocalyptic event. Every day, people appear from the storms that ravage the Endpoint. Whisked away from their own time and place by storms in their homelands, these newcomers find themselves in a hostile place made up of ruins and people from every timeline imaginable. Stranger still, they all soon discover they're carrying silver keys that grant each holder incredible powers. On Earth, most people have mundane excuses for the disappearances, but not Isaac. Having lost his brother Finn to one of these storms, Isaac becomes obsessed with finding a pattern. Not to prevent more people disappearing, but rather to get taken by the storms himself in order to find his brother. While chasing Finn’s faint trail, Isaac soon discovers how little he really knew about himself, his brother and how much loss one person can take. In Keys of the Endpoint there's portal fantasy, personal drama, magic (useable by everyone), plenty of combat, power progression, mysteries, factions, feuds and eventually war (in that order). The magic system is well defined and modular with nigh infinite combinations. The story starts out with one of the two main characters looking for his lost brother but quickly expands in scope from that point on. Candle burning in the dark
This is the story of Alyssa and Mireille, two girls in a world of Magic. They are forced to leave their homes by differing circumstances and must come to terms with their own magical abilities and the problems those bring. Alyssa is hunted for what she is, while Mireille is not certain what and who she wants to be but drifting along is not an option when her life is on the line. They live in a world that is torn by strife where humanity is not the pinnacle of existence. This is a world of high fantasy. It is my first written story. I am a non-native speaker. I will not go out of my way to shock people but the content will at times be traumatizing for sensitive people. At the moment I would guess the story to be PEGI 16 perhaps? It's light on the profanity at least? Cover from unsplash.com
