《Binary Progression》Volume 3 - Chapter 27: Cool gloves

"Is there anything good here?" asked Bromy sitting on a crate outside the armoury.
"Not particularly..." Bonifacius replied walking out with a large metal shield, a considerable improvement from his tiny wooden shield with metal plates.
On his back, he now carried a massive blade.
Bromy looked around the armoury for a second before being disappointed to see there was no lab coat.
"I can't believe I'm not allowed to go in there!" Revenberry exclaimed.
"We can't let you take our equipment," Curstl explained.
The temporary jGuadian base was located on a massive plateau near the cliff leading down to west Rolling plains.
"Luckily, a mysterious person offered us a piece of technology, he called himself a travelling scientist." Curstl laughed.
"I tried to get him to join us but he refused." Curstl sighed.
Curstl brought out the items, they looked like regular gloves leather gloves.
Bromy took one of the two gloves from her, "Nice, I wonder what level they were to make something like this..."
"Who knows, he wore all sorts of equipment, he said "The jGuardians? You're planning to establish control over Arlepia? ...cool, here have these!" such a weird guy!"
Bromy felt a shiver go down his spine.
He looked on the inside of the glove and saw the initials MMF stitched in fancy joint writing.
Bromy reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette before placing it in his mouth and lighting it, the cigarettes you start with can simply be lit by pinching the tip.
"Are you feeling alright?" asked Revenberry looking at the slightly worried-looking Bromy.
"Yeah, whoever the creator of these gloves is... he had one sick sense of humour."
He put the glove on.
"What does it do?" he asked.

"Point it at a surface and clench your first." Curstl instructed.
Bromy followed her directions and a metallic chain shot out from the glove, it attached to the ground in the distance, when Bromy opened his palm, he was dragged full-speed at where the other end of the chain was, causing him to crash into the ground.
"I was about to say, to de-activate the chain, you just clench your hand again, and to move along the chain, you slowly open or close your palm," she said sounding apologetic.
As soon as Bromy stood up, he clenched his hand causing the chain to burst into blue sparks and disappear.
"Neat isn't it!?" asked Curslt.
"Indeed... how kind of a passing stranger to offer such items," Bonifacius remarked.
Curstl turned towards Bonifacius and looked at him with amazement.
"Even when faced with the fanciest of technology you are only concerned with singing the praise of the man who dropped it off," she thought.
"Could thou stop gazing upon me like that!" pleaded Bonifacius.
"Of course I'll let you move into my basement!" she replied happily.
"Thou isn't even listening..." he sighed.
"THROW THE WENCH OFF THE CLIFF!" Bonifacius-1 thought.
"No, no, we can't do that! She may be in the wrong, but we cannot hurt a past comrade!" Bonifacius-2 exclaimed.
"Look, I getcha, let's just continue the cold-shoulder-treatment and hope she changes her mind!" Bonifacius-3 exclaimed.
"Awww... I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this so-called "cold-shoulder-treatment" going, the guilt it killing me!" Bonifacius-2 complained.
"I thought it was a good plan..." Bonifacius-3 replied.
"O-oh! Sorry! I didn't mean to insult you, me!" Bonifacius-2 exclaimed.
"It's alright... I guess we can drop the cold-shoulder thing..." Bonifacius-3 sighed.

"No, no - On second thought I think this might work! Let's just tone it down a little bit!" Bonifacius-2 replied.
"Are you sure? I'd hate to make you feel uncomfortable because of all this." Bonifacius-3 asked.
"Don't worry about me! I can totally pull it off!" Bonifacius-2 replied.
"Guys! We're back to square one! Just toss her off the cliff!" Bonifacius-1 exclaimed.
"haply we shouldst inviteth h'r to wend with us and becometh bett'r cater-cousins?" Bonifacius-0 suggested.
"Oh, no - he escaped!" Bonifacius-3 exclaimed.
"Go back to your room, zero! Nobody can understand you anyway!" Bonifacius-1 exclaimed.
"Oh, good now. I guesseth i'll wend backeth to mine own cubiculo" Bonifacius-0 said sadly with a quivering lip before returning to his part of Bonifacius' subconscious.
"Bony! Hey, Bony!" Curstl asked waving her hand in front of him.
"Hm? Oh, my apologies, I was lost in thought," he replied turning to Bromy who was playing around with the glove.
By "playing around" I mean Bromy shot one of the people who previously captured him with the chain, causing it to tangle around their legs and as he opened the fist they were launched towards him, before Bromy closed his palm, releasing them from the chain and sending them out over the cliff.
He would then catch the screaming individual with the chain-glove in mid-air and repeat the process a few times.
"This is fun!" he exclaimed.
"Bromy! Stop that! They're technically your co-workers!" Bonifacius called out grabbing Bromy and pulling him away from the terrified jGuardains.
"Why don't I get a glove?!" Revenberry demanded.
"You're a bird, you can fly around already!" Curstl sighed.
"I... guess..."
"But no matter how many wings you get, you'll never be as angelic as Bonifacius!" she aggressively poked her nose before taking a step back.
"I don't think we'll be great friends..." she thought.
Bonifacius picked Curstl up by the collar.
"Leave our companion, alone, witch..." he said in a bored tone.
"Oh, Bony aren't you just the kindest person on the surface of the planet!" she said trying to embrace him in a hug but was kept at an arm's distance
A large group of the jGuardian lost a lot of respect for their boss.
Bonifacius reached for one of the gloves.
"What's he doing?"
Now, the next thing Bonifacius said came across a bit weirdly to Curstl.
What Bonifacius actually said: "Here, put this glove on..."
What Curstl heard him say: "Please, Curstl, equip this engagement glove!"
"Of course I will!" she exclaimed putting the glove on.
Bonifacius took her by the hand, pointed it into the distance and squeezed her hand causing the chain to shoot out, far into the distance.
"Eh?" her illusion was broken.
"Farewell." he said.
"Till next we meet, my love!" was what she imagined him say.
With that, he opened her palm, causing her to be pulled away by the chain at full-speed, as he watched her fly far into the distance.
Bonifacius turned back and saw all the other jGuardian's minding their business, all pretending their boss didn't just embarrass herself in front of her subordinated and pretending their newest co-worker didn't just launch her into the horizon.
"Now then, shall we get going before she returns?" asked Bonfiacus with a wide grin as he turned towards the rest of his group.
"Sure..." Bromy and Revenberry said in unison.

What if you were dumped in some backwards cave somewhere, completely nude, maybe with your family, or even completely alone? The age of pioneers, heroes, generals, and geniuses is long gone. Humankind has become numb to the world around it because of how paltry everything else is compared to the glory of its history, the sheer volume of their accomplishments, and the sum of its innovations. Artificial intelligence is within arms reach in devices and computers and even houses, and neural interfaces aren't exclusive to the rich and powerful at this point. Someone far in the distance took notice of Earth, saw the multitude of hairless apes swarming its surface. That one went down the checklist to see if humanity had, in fact, beaten the 'game' of Life. Sure enough, they had gone above and beyond the requirements, but nobody had been watching. 'Why might that be?', that one wondered. Join him as he traverse the lands of Fymia, where the arcane had faded into the annals of time and yet persist in the most mundane of things. I hope you can find enjoyment in it nonetheless.
