《Binary Progression》Volume 5 - Chapter 11: A big "OH NO"

While Dylan, Alex and Felix were doing their thing, Bromy was dealing with the riot that broke out.
He stood before a large fountain, standing on its edge like a pedestal.
Beside him stood the violet-haired woman and the kid.
"Where's that bastard Dylan!?"
"I'll kill him!"
"Why didn't they catch the murderer yet?! Didn't he say he found some professionals?!"
"The dogs ATE my child!" cried one person.
"They ate my pet!"
"The dogs pissed in my soup!"
"The dogs are taking credit for my child-eating!"
"They kept standing outside my door, I was stuck at home for days!"
The riot was composed of three dozen people, some held dog heads, others were covered in bite marks.
"People, people!" Bromy exclaimed.
He lifted his hands into the air.
"I have a wonderful idea!" he exclaimed.
Bromy gestured to the large building placed opposite the group.
"See that building, that's the local brothel- how about we go inside and relax?" he suggested.
The crowd went quiet for a while as Bromy awaited a response.
"...seriously?!" demanded the violet haired woman, visibly upset.
A rock was flung at them, it bounced of Bromy's chest not even bruising it.
"Hey! You could do some serious damage like that!" The violet haired woman stepped in front of everyone.
A rock was sent flying her way.
She covered her face instinctively awaiting the impact only for it to never come.
"Huh?" she opened her eyes and saw a root growing from the ground, breaking part of the road.
Whispers spread around the people.
Suddenly that same root crushed the rock it was tangled around before shooting forward and grabbing the one who tossed the rock, a skinny crimson-haired guy, he was so thin he looked like he was starving, his skin was pale and he was covered in freckles.

"So, you're the assassin, eh?" Bromy asked with a grin as the vines spread up his leg, shattering the bone and heading further up.
"Hey! That's enough!" Said the woman turning to Bromy.
"Like hell it is! I've waited this long to... It's about time for the mid-summer megalomania!" Bromy exclaimed as the bone was further crushed, the vines venturing further up as they coiled around the torso of the man.
"Everyone run!" exclaimed the violet-haired woman looking to the rioters.
At this point, the red-haired man was screeching in agony.
An incomparable string of pleading and screaming came from his mouth.
"No fucking wonder this place looks and feels like a shit-hole! You people are all assholes!" Bromy exclaimed as he finally snapped the red-haired guy in half, bathing everyone in crimson rain.
"That Dylan guy's been holding me back until now... but as soon as he leaves I'm killing every last one of you!" Bromy cackled arching backwards as he breathed a long sigh.
He waited for a few seconds.
"Are they gone, yet?" asked Bromy.
"Yeah, they all ran off..." Replied the violet-haired woman.
Bromy stretched his back out before lighting a cigarette.
"Nice!" he exclaimed.
He walked over to the body of the red-haired man.
"Nice job, Phil!" Bromy exclaimed picking the man's torso up.
"Eh, it's nothing!" he laughed as Bromy cast the healing spell onto the undead causing his lower body to sprout into existence.
Phil was an undead, Bromy paid him only a few minutes ago to play the aggressor in the riots.
As soon as his legs were back, Phil stood up and stretched out as well.
"Being undead sure has its perks!" he laughed.
"Yeah, you guys are pretty tough!" Bromy laughed.
He turned to the violet haired woman and the kid who still followed them.

"How was my performance?" he asked jokingly.
"Scary..." the woman replied.
The kid only gave Bromy a thumbs up.
Bromy looked around.
"Alright! Now, let's go to the brot-" he was cut off by the violet-haired woman who knocked him out.
Later...
Bromy woke up in the office, Felix was wearing a dress, Dylan was crying, Alex was red-faced and embarrassed.
"Eh?" Bromy looked around.
"Hey! Are you alright?!" asked the violet-haired woman.
Bromy looked around.
Bromy sat up.
Alex looked over to Bromy.
"Bromy?" he asked.
"Who's Bromy?" asked Bromy.
"..."
"..."
"..."
Everyone stood in place.
"FUCK!" cried the violet haired woman.
"Wait, you forgot?" asked Alex.
"Can I please forget everything as well?" asked Felix in a dry, hollow-sounding voice.
His eyes bloodshot.
"Me too..." Dylan asked.
"Quit it, you guys! We need Bromy back to normal!"
They looked back to where Bromy sat only to find him missing.
Alex and the Violet-haired woman sprinted out of the office seeing Bromy walking through the street.
"Bromy!" they cried.
Bromy let out a sigh and turned around.
"Oh, it's you guys again..."
"Bromy! You need to remember who you are! We need you!" Alex exclaimed shaking Bromy.
"...eh?" Bromy asked.
"Who exactly are you people? Are we friends?" he asked.
Both Alex and the woman froze.
"Well... we're co-workers!" Alex exclaimed.
"Oh, I see... well... where do we work?" Bromy asked.
"...we..." Alex wasn't sure how to reply.
"We kind of just do stuff... like fight people..."
"Sounds shady... I'll pass." Bromy replied with a shrug.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I'LL PASS!? YOU'RE OUR DOCTOR!" Alex exclaimed.
"Yeah! You can use healing magic!" exclaimed the violet-haired woman.
Bromy pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Hold on, what are your names?" asked Bromy.
"I'm Alex,"
"I'm Violet,"
"Alright, well - I trust you that I lost my memory... since I don't remember... anything,"
"Alright! You're Bromy, a druid and a doctor, you cut people open and act all scary and kill people by tearing them in two!" Alex exclaimed.
"Yeah, and you let kids play with dead bodies that you cut open!" Violet added.
"Right, and you always smoke around people!"
"And you have literally no compassion for people with lost loved ones!"
"You keep trying to get into a brothel!"
Bromy's expression looked shocked.
"Are you guys... serious?" he asked.
"Yeah!" they both exclaimed.
Bromy scratched his head and took off his hat before bowing a little bit.
"I'm sorry for all the trouble..."
Alex and Violet were speechless.
"You actually apologised!" Alex exclaimed.
"Eh? Is that... weird?" asked Bromy.
"YEAH!" Violet exclaimed.
"How... could I be such a terrible person..." he put his hand into his pocket and pulled out his pack of cigarettes.
"Eh? You guys said I'm a smoker?" he asked.
Alex nodded.
Bromy tossed the packed out.
"Well, I guess I should quit smoking since I'm meant to be a doctor..." he sighed.
"Not that I remember anything about medicine..." he sighed.
"Just use healing magic on yourself!" Alex suggested.
"Eh, I- I don't know..." Bromy sighed.
"Why not?" asked Violet.
"I don't want to be an asshole again! This is a whole new Bromy! No more jackass-Bromy!" Bromy exclaimed crossing his arms.
"...oh no..." Alex sighed.
"So, could you guys lead me back to my house?" he asked nicely.
"...about that..." Alex began.
"We're kind of homeless..." he continued.

The Rowan Fox, Tail 1: The Missing Children
Deep in the Maple Woods sits a mountain of old. Humans have claimed it and today a city called Redlog covers it from peak to foot. Meet Josei, one of many medicine makers living in the city of red roofs. Hers is the start of many tales, home to a very special fox. Like foxes often do, this one finds himself plenty of trouble. (Thought I would be gone forever did you? I'm back again! This time with a book that actually has an ending. I know because I've written it. I will be editing each chapter then releasing it here as they're done, probably once or twice a week. It's a shorter tale than what I've written before but that was the goal from the start. I really need to learn how to finish a story so this was a big accomplishment for me. I'll be writing The Rowan Fox in several parts instead, short but hopefully sweet.) (This story is a combination of some of my favorite things: folktales, foxes, ancient forests, and feel good slice of life. I hope you like it!)

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.
