Darius and the witch appeared in what looked like another library after using the red book.
The floor was made from tiled stone and the large windows let in a rainbow of light through the stained glass.
"Looks like the bastard wasn't lying about the book at least..." Darius remarked.
The red book he used to get here crumbled away, becoming ash and being blown all over the room they stood in.
"Mmm..." the witch nodded looking around and seeing a dozen people surrounding them, all of them dressed in vests and jumpers, not a single armoured person stood in sight.
"Can I help you?" asked the purple-haired man, he wore a dull brown vest over a white blouse.
Darius looked at him for a second before turning to the witch.
"I think that's him..." he whispered.
"Yeah, he looks about right..." the witch remarked.
She pulled out the index just in case, flipping through the thousands of pages to the first one, an image of the man before them was printed onto the page, as well as a handful of images from his childhood.
"Are you Mattius?" asked Darius looking the man up and down, he looked like he was in his early twenties.
"Yes, that's me... can I ask what you're doing in the mages-college?" asked the man hesitantly.
He wiped the book-ash off his face.
"We need to speak privately," Darius exclaimed, grabbing the man by the wrist and dragging him away.
Mattius put up some resistance though ultimately was powerless against the wolfman.
Eventually, Darius, the witch and Mattius entered a broom closet, the only light coming from the window located on the right-hand side of the rectangular room.
"What is it? I have a lot of work to-" Mattius was cut off by Darius.
"Help us slay the gods," he said plainly.

The room was silent, Mattius half expected a bolt of lightning to destroy the building.
"What the hell are you saying!?" Mattius demanded, he began heading towards the door leading out of the room when Darius blocked his way.
"Listen, you're an essential NPC like us! We found the index!" he continued.
"What good is the index? Are you trying to get my entire city wiped off the map?!" Mattius demanded.
Mattius pushed past him and left, walking back to the library.
Darius' fists were twitching, his claws burying into his skin as a trickle of blood ran down his hand.
The witch saw this, Darius was doing his best to hold back his urge to force Mattius into working with them.
"We could just force him..." the witch offered.
Darius gritted his teeth and breathed a sigh.
"No... we're going to win this the right way... even if I won't be around to see the reign of terror end..." he replied turning to leave the closet, outside, several guards were already waiting.
Luckily for them, they announced their goal was to "Escort the intruder off the premises,"
If they failed to clarify they weren't after the heretic's head, they would have been slaughtered.
Darius and the witch were dragged out of the large building and tossed onto the street.
Darius looked around, cobblestone streets with tall homes with tiled rooves, magic lamps lit the streets.
Carriages travelled around the streets.
"We're in Hudderdown..." Darius remarked.
"Yeah, too good for sewers..." she remarked seeing no sign of any illegitimate businesses.
"I knew we shouldn't have gone to the most important one first..." Darius sighed.
"I would have done the same..." the witch assured him with a shrug.
Darius let out a sigh.
"We should go find someplace to stay... we shouldn't stay out in the streets like this..." Darius said.

The two left in search of someplace to stay, most inns turned them away from the start.
"You look pretty broke... go find some street to sleep in..." was the typical reply.
Even when the witch showed them the money she had; they refused to believe the money was real and not counterfeit.
The two ended up sitting outside as the sun set.
"Cozy..." the witch remarked sitting on the ground under a small tree planted on the square patch of grass on a street-corner.
Darius lay on the ground on the other side of the tree with his arms behind his head.
"I'm sensing a hint of sarcasm from your words..." he replied.
"What? No, I mean this place is pretty cosy..." the witch replied genuinely.
"Oh, yeah, I love sitting out in the cold at night..." Darius replied.
"Look, firstly, you're a wolfman, you deal well with cold, right? Secondly, it beats the sewer," she continued.
Darius sighed.
"You have a point,"
"What are you two doing out here?" asked the voice of a woman, she had blond hair and was carrying a bag of what looked like groceries.
"All-natural camping," replied the witch.
"Yeah, we came here and decided it'd be fun to sleep outside," Darius continued, sitting up and looking at the woman.
"Low level..."
"..."
"..."
"No inn let you guys stay?" she asked with a look of pity.
"...yeah..." Darius admitted.
"Well, there are a few spare rooms in my inn. If you can pay two gold per day I can rent you a room," offered the woman.
Darius squinted uncertainly.
"Why would she-"
"Sure," the witch replied.
Darius looked over to the witch, surprised she didn't question the situation.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to stab you two in your sleep or anything," she laughed.
"..."
"..."
The witch looked back at Darius and shrugged.
The blond-haired woman led them to the inn, it was located in a poorer part of town.
"We only have one other person staying here, they're staying in the broom-closet," shrugged the woman.
"I see..." Darius replied.
"Alright, and what are your names?" asked the woman.
"I'm Darius," he replied, even in this world just the first name isn't enough to track someone down.
"Just write me down as 'witch' or something," replied the witch.
Hesitantly the woman wrote their names down in the booklet.
"Alright, My name is Elizabeth, but you can call me Emily for short," the woman replied.
"Emily is absolutely not short for Elizabeth..." thought the witch, though she didn't voice her concerns, they just found a place to stay and she wasn't about to get kicked out.
Meanwhile, outside...
A group of delinquents lay on the ground as before them stood Thal.
"There's an inn not too far away from here," he said, his words flowing into the minds of all the delinquents under the influence of his magic.
"An entire treasury of unprotected gold, you should just go there and take the money," he continued.
"You should go now before they hide the money," he explained.
Suddenly, the delinquents snapped back to reality, they looked around, not remembering Thal or how they passed out.
"What the hell happened?!" demanded one of the delinquents.
"Who cares! There's a treasury of gold waiting for us at the inn!" exclaimed the leader, reaching for his sword.
Thal grinned, looking down at the group of violent attackers about to provoke Darius and the witch into earning a big favour from Emily's brother once he returned from the mage's college.

For one, even if someone tried to tell her, she doesn't know the language. Number two, have you heard about the sunk cost fallacy? Riza is not some chosen one, nor is given any boon she doesn't deserve. Instead, she's smart and methodical, and experiements on how to maximise every opportunity, every ability, presented to her. She doesn't just take things at face-value but instead explores just what limitations there are. This often involves maths.
