《Dan's Shoppe of Oddities》Chapter 33: All's not well on the homefront.

Dan sat down in the lounge chair he had in the residential area of his shop, he was currently being fawned and worried over by a genie and a Lamia, while an egyptian goddess tried to also squeeze in.
Unfortunately for Bastet she was unable to thank Dan properly as any time she got close a certain snake would hiss her disatisfaction. So she just had to settle for saying thank you a hundred times while clutching the necklace to her chest almost afraid it would vanish into thin air.
“Honestly however I am surprised that Anubis was in one peace when we left, I would have thought you would have at least attempted to attack him.” Dan said.
“He sent you through a temporal rift, if we made him lose focus it was possible that you would never be able to come back.” Amani explained, she hung her head before latching on to dan. “Don't do that again!” she sniffed.
“Hey, Hey, it's not like it is my fault.” Dan sighed and held onto the genie that was snuggled up against him.
“I will kill him!” Abyzou hissed, she coiled her tail around the leg of the coffee table, and there was soon sounds of snapping and splintering wood filling the air.
“It's fine we got what we came for and everyone turned out ok, so now what?”
“Now I return home and get the items prepared that I need to make that Arzil oil, should only take me a few hours.” Bastet said.
“Ok, well we will see you in a little bit.” Dan said, and everyone in the room watched in amazement as the egyptian goddess transformed into a small calico cat.
“Meow,” it said as it walked out of the room.

Bastet liked those people, especially Dan, if sara wasn't the apple of her eye she might have put dan in such a prestigious position. But as it stood there was only room for one person to truly be in her heart, but if Dan wanted to be friends with benefits, she would not oppose.
She thought of such things as she went back to her home.
Huh, wasn't that interesting, she had called it her home…
Though she supposed part of that had to do with the fact that Sara lived there, after all what was a home without family, that would just be a house. She smiled brightly as she bounced down the street with a playful demeanor.
The sun was out, and nice breeze blew through her fur, and she had the one item she had been needing for several thousands of years.
Life was good.
Or so she thought, at least until she crested that small hill that overlooked her neighborhood. It was there at the top of the hill she saw a sight that chilled her to the bone.
Sara’s house was on fire.
Abandoning all pretence of being a normal cat she ran down the hill at full speed. The brick house was ablaze, and firefighters were already working on putting it out. She however could not afford to wait, she had to see what happened to sara.
With a leaping bound she gracefully soared through the window and into the inferno that was her and Sara’s home.
The firefighters had yet to reach the inside.
It was a mess, the entire house, it looked like someone had tore it apart before setting it ablaze. Her entire life was a mess now, but she didn't care, all she cared about was finding Sara.
“Sara!” she called out, but received no answer, the house was small, roughly 900 square feet, but searching and traversing that while and inferno was all around you was not something easily done.

“Sara!”
It only took her a minute or two to search the entire house.
Sara was nowhere to be found.
Bastet sat down in the living room, it was one of the only rooms not engulfed in flames, and examined what she knew.
Sara was not here, this was the important one, it was saturday, she would always be here.
If she was not here that meant she was alive, or had a better chance of being alive.
There was evidence of a struggle. Someone had intentionally done this, she knew it she could feel it in her bones.
And what was that smell?
It had a sweet, magical aroma, but it was tainted. It smelled like, like…
Her!
It smelled like Amani.
That was where she would have to start, she had been so desperate to get the Sistrum Menat she hadn't even asked what they needed Arzil oil for.
It was the primary ingredient of exorcising ritual objects. Bastet narrowed her eyes, she would have to start there, they knew something, and she would be damned before she let that something get in between her and Sara…
[unknown location]
“Richardson! We can talk this out, please, just let me go!” Sara Lawrence had never been so frightened in her life. It was hard to breath, let alone talk in the presence of this monstrosity.
This was John Richardson? The man she used to work for? She had thought he was dead, everyone did, but here he was standing in front of her. Only now he didn't look human anymore.
His eyes had sunken in, and were currently glowing a bright orange, his skin had turned a pale and clammy grey color, all his hair had fallen out, and his face was covered in ancient Sumerian Cuneiform. His cheekbones had become more jagged, and horns were sticking out of his cheekbones and just above his eyebrows. He looked like a monster.
Like a demon.
“Let you go?” he laughed, his voice was coarse and there was a thrum of power that had never been there before. “Why would you want to go? Don't you want to be the first wife of a god?” he asked, his withered lips pulling back into a smile to reveal his jagged teeth.
He walked over to her and breathed in her scent deeply. “Ahhhh, you smell so good,” he muttered to himself, before running a tongue up from her collarbone to her chin. “And you taste even better.”
“Please just let me go!” Sara sobbed, her shaking body pulling against the ropes that bound her to the floor.
“We will have to taste more of you after we finish off that annoyance.” he growled.
“Wha-?”
“What was his name? Dan?” Sara’s eyes went wide as she realised what he meant.
“No- please!”
“I'll make sure he suffers for the hell he put me through.” He said with a wicked smile on his lips.

Travelers [DROPPED]
DROPPED. The story focuses less on dungeon building than on the why of dungeons and how they fit into the universal order. While I am working from a grand plot, the writing is going slice of life style because I need to do that to work out how things progress into that grand plot. The original story seed idea / synopsis is below. The Grand Tapestry protects Rhofhir from Primal Chaos by imposing Order via patterns. However, the patterns grow stiff, stagnant, and so the Tapestry is nearing a time of Unraveling. Evidence of past civilizations wiped out during previous Unravelings foreshadow the apocalyptic catastrophe looming over the world. The mages of the Arcane Asylum reach out across dimensions, searching for some way to prevent, or at least stall, the coming Unraveling. Among the many voices they find is a gifted graduate student researching machine-assisted telepathy -- and his gaming group. Lena never expected that the chance to play DnD with telepathy would result in her becoming an actual Dungeon Master, nor that her friends could become the bosses of her dungeon. This is, in many ways, her dream come true, but there's a catch: What happened to Brad, the creator of that telepathy machine?
