《Rise of the Lich!》Chapter 14 - Everbloom Forest Part 3*

“There once was a man, born with nothing. He had no money, no power, no talent, no lover and no beauty. This man had a goal so pure that even the gods felt pity for him. All this man ever desired was not to be rich or powerful, he just wanted to simply be happy.
On a faithful day one of the gods could no longer bear to see the poor man suffer and decided to help him out. The god gave great magical power to the man, so that he can fight for his own happiness! But sadly, this power corrupted the mind of the young lad and he took whatever he wanted. After all, nobody could stop him with the gods backing hip up. Angry and embarrassed about his mistake, the god decided to destroy the puny mortal to make sure that his name will no longer be sullied by him.
But as soon as his body was no more, a voice was heard. “You cannot take, what's mine! Nobody can!” the bodiless voice said, as purple smoke formed above his broken corpse. “I'll take whatever I want! All of it! Until my hunger is stilled, until I am truly happy!”, he yelled as the god tried to destroy him again, but couldn't. The man no longer was mortal, instead he lost his body for even greater power so that he could take whatever he desires.
And thus, the King of Magic was born.”

*Sirius POV*
It still took us nearly three hours to finish the ring! This was really close...
By the way, in case you’re wondering what happened to the penalty I got from entering a sacred place: Well, It's gone now. It seems that thanks to the vanishing of the Divine soul the cave was able to return to normal. Now let's finally take a look onto my new ring!
Ring of a Major Cold Soul
This Ring is filled with the equivalent of 10 Greater Cold Souls, which created a Major Cold Soul! The Souls inside of this Ring can be absorbed by a Lich.
Seems like freezing the souls actually stabilized the ring as well. Good, I won't have to be scared about this thing exploding anymore at least.
Ice infusion reached its finals level and evolved! Mana costs for infusing something with ice are now lowered by 90%!
Now that's pretty useful. But now comes something a lot more important. Let's eat that soul!
Level up! (x148)
+296 STR; +296 DEX; +296 END; +296 VIT; +1480 INT
Lich Mastery 19 → 86; (+360 KNW) → (+1700 KNW)
I feel good...
That's what I call a power boost! I thought I'd get 50 or maybe 100 levels at most but instead I got nearly 150! well this confirms a little theory I had.
Merging souls is worth a lot more then to just consume them raw. Also, I got so much knowledge now because of 'Lich Master'
…
I really would like to know what it does. Actually, maybe one of the fairies knows? They magical beings after all…
“Oi, Rot. Do you know what knowledge is for?” (Sirius)
“Knowledge? That's a stat for Great mages.” (Rot)
“I know that much, but what does is do? I mean what are its effects?” (Sirius)
“If I'm not mistaking it increases how fast and how easily you learn and level up magic. Also, if it's high enough you can even use some spells without chants! But it has to be very high for that…” (Rot)
Oh? Wow, that sounds awesome! I was wondering how I'm already so good with magic even though I never used it while I was still alive. Also, chant-less casting? Can I already do that? Let's try it out on a small spell. I cast Shadow Cloak without the chant and to my surprise, it actually works! I just have to concentrate well enough to activate the spell.
“L- Lord?! Quickly! Cancel the spell!” (Rot)
Surprised by Rots reaction I immediately cancel it and look at her with questioning eyes.
“Damn it! Let's hope no 'normal' fairy was nearby... Otherwise, we are going to have some serious problems soon.” (Rot)
“Why is that? All I did was use a simple spell” (Sirius)
“Yeah, but a dark one! The divine soul forces us to immediately report everything dark inside of the forest! If the elves send a few elite hunters to track you down... then this will end pretty badly for you my lord.” (Rot)
“…If that's true, how come you didn't report me? My soul should be quite the dark one.” (Sirius)
“Hm? It's not dark actually... it's just cold, very cold.” (Rot)
…
I guess that does make sense... After all I am the holder of the title 'Frozen Soul'.
Hm?
The small crystal on my ring has once again turned black. Seems like I can use it once again.
“Rot, didn't you say there are multiple origin caves?” (Sirius!)
“Yeah, there are a total of three so two more are remaining. Hm? Are we going to free * cough * I mean corrupt the other caves as well?! Yaaaay!!” (Rot)
Two more caves mean one full ring. With this I should be able to reach my next evolution point! But isn't Rot awfully excited about this whole corrupting thing? And I'm pretty sure she said something weird before coughing... Well, I probably just misheard something.
“Can you bring me to those other caves?” (Sirius)
“Of course my lord!” (Rot)
*Third Person POV*
Four People were currently sitting on a Round table inside of a Dark and sinister Room. They seem to be currently having a heated discussion.
“I think you are getting your hopes way to high.” (Magic King)
“Yeah, this fucker is just some stupid bonehead, right? We keep those weaklings as slaves in my Kingdom!” (Blood Queen)
“He is not just some 'stupid bonehead'. He is something new! A new classification of undead with high intelligence and great magical powers! He may be weak right now, but I feel like he could grow into something incredible!” (Demon King)
The Demon King was very annoyed by now. He could not deny that the other Council members were indeed right, but what was he supposed to do? They needed a sixth and seventh member but there just was nobody that could replace their dead companions! There may be a few other strong, or even stronger monsters but no one fit the hard to meet criteria to join them.
“Don't forget that he's funny! Hehehihi” ( Shadow King)
“Being funny doesn't make you a king... and even if he is as powerful as you told me, he will still need the divine protection from a God of Sin.” (Magic King)
“Yeah those bastards from down below don't give their powers to anybody! He'll also have to impress the biggest of those assholes to replace Thortor! He doesn’t have a dick after all.” (Blood Queen)
“She's right. Primal God Lucifer is particularly hard to impress.” (Magic King)
This was the biggest Problem. To be a member of the Council of Sin you need the Divine Protection of one of the 'Gods from down below' that were exiled by the so called 'Higher Gods' a few millennia ago. The big problem is that because of their exile they can only have one champion. That makes is very difficult to acquire their Protection.
“Where is the old fart by the way?” (Blood Queen)
“He probably felt asleep on his way over here…” (Magic King)
“Of course he did! Fuck I hate every single one of you stupid bastards!” (Blood Queen)
“Don't worry, we hate you as well.” (Demon King)
“What did you shithead just say? Don’t forget inside whose Kingdom you all are currently, o great kings of what? Six people?!” (Blood Queen)
“…” (The Three Kings)
*Avelia, High Guardian of Everbloom Forest POV*
How…?
How could this be?! What is going on here?!
“* sob * Wh- who could have done this? Why would any- anybody do this?! I… * faint *” (Elven Guardian)
My Sisters all around me start falling to their knees and crying in horror. The weaker minded ones even lose their consciousness. I can also not stop my own tears from coming out.
A couple of days ago, a fairy flew towards one of the guardians and reported a dark aura near one of their birthplaces. Immediately a small elite group that was under my command was sent out to investigate and after travelling for two days we now come across this living nightmare.
The Soul-Trees... they were corrupted by something. Instead of being white and blue beautiful trees which color their surroundings in a magical blueish silver, they are now red and black abominations that turn the plants around them as blood red as they are.
But that's not the worst thing...
No, the true nightmare is what happened to the fairies. I was once here a few years ago, when I was given the positions of the High Guardian. Back then those fairies all flew around me, giggling and being all smile and happy! But now they are hiding from us and those that I see lost their bright glow. They are also looking at us strange... as if they are not sure if they should hate or love us.
…
We have to stop this madness!
“Quick! Guardians! We have no time to mourn! We need to find the person that did this and bring him down! Let's quickly move towards the last place he was seen a week ago, the Cave of Origin!” (High Guardian)
I have to stop this madman...
*Third Person POV*
“So, not only did the Demi-Humans found out I sent you guys, but you also lost Blackfang AND did not find Yunas murderer?! Are you kidding me?!” (Prince Julius)
“I'm sorry my price, but it seems like he is a lot stronger than we thought... as you know Black fang was rather strong and a master of assassination! To be able to kill him means that we underestimated him...” (Grand Spy Rur)
“How did he die? I mean Blackfang” (Prince Julius)
“We do not know! Only a bit of blood is left of him...” (Grand Spy Rur)
“God damn it! I want you to keep on looking! Find this asshole and find him quick! Use everything that can be used! What are you waiting for?! GO!” (Prince Julius)
“Sir, Yes Sir!” (Grand Spy Rur)
“…” (Prince Julius)
“I'm sorry Yuna. but don't worry, I WILL make sure that your murderer gets caught! No... WE will make sure!” (Prince Julius)

Soo… Hello? Why am I doing this? Ugh… Anyway, name’s Sethsamm, no last name. Why you ask? Well… it all started with me waking up and having this holographic RPG-like window in front of me. Sounds like one of the many mangas’ I read, funny. So I got this window, then it explains that my life is now a video game. And then shit hits the hay… Starts up a bit slow, also a bit of wish fulfillment. Of course, there will be plot since I have a dislike for stories without plot, conflict, or even MC struggles.
