《Rise of the Lich!》Chapter 38 - Wind and Fire Part 2*

"To create a Homunculus, many things are necessary. First of all, a human base is needed. There multiple ways this can be done. For example, one could sacrifice another human, or a few to strengthen the power of the body. After that, the body needs an artificial soul. Only the Gods can easily create a soul, mortal creatures like us have to go through a very complicated and pricey process to create one.
After the soul and body are created, small configurations can be done. Those include, but are not limited to: Embedding strength into the body or soul, crossing the body with another species, creating fake memories, etc.
After those steps are made, the Homunculus is finished. Sadly, this kind of fake human does not attain any emotions or personality. In order to create a real life like being another step is necessary.
One has to steal the fate of another being and infuse it into the Homunculus. This is incredible hard to achieve and comes with a great price for the one whose fate was stolen. “
-From 'Forbidden Magic' Vol. 1
*Sirius POV*
I waited for a pretty long time inside this so called 'Bloody Storm'. It's damage is really low for me since I don't have any flesh or blood. After a few minutes I just took out a bone from my Bag of Holding and started to nibble at it, which results in me regaining more health than I lose. At first I just wanted to wait until his mana runs out or something, but it seems like he can use this skill for an awfully long time. I wonder, should I just get out of here and attack him? Or wait until he stops? He has to run out of mana eventually, right?
"Heeeeeh... Could you please start bleeding or something?" (Kaze)
"Huh? So you noticed nothing is happening?" (Sirius)
"Of course I did, usually my storm turns red because of all the blood. That's the cool thing about it you know? I'm really disappointed right now. Why are you not bleeding? You robe can't be that tough!" (Kaze)
"I told you, I'm undead. A skeleton to be precise." (Sirius)
"Heeeeeh? That's kinda bullshit you know? Never heard of an skeleton like you. Even if you are a unique monster, you can't have so many abilities." (Kaze)
"You can believe it or not, it doesn't really matter. How long are we going to have this idle chat anyway? Shouldn't we fight or something like that?" (Sirius)
"I really don't care. It's no fun if you don't bleed." (Kaze)
"Can I ask you a few questions then?" (Sirius)
"Heeeeeh? You can't. I still kinda have to kill you. Well, since this thing here doesn't work let's use plan B." (Kaze)
Suddenly the storm around me vanishes and the strange guy stands in front of me. I notice that greyish green magic is whirling around his sword. He pierces the air in front of me and the greyish magic comes towards me.

Shit, he prepared an attack while I was inside the storm? This could be bad.
"If I can't cut your body I shall impale your soul with my wind! Soul Pierce!" (Kaze)
The greyish magic hits me dead on. Fuck this thing was fast. As soon as it touched me I felt a weak pinch in my chest.
You were affected by Soul Pierce! Instead of taking damage one of the hundred souls inside of you, will take the shot.
"…" (Kaze)
"…" (Sirius)
"So, you had some questions, right?" (Kaze)
*Third Person POV*
A little bit away from Sirius and Kaze, two other people are currently engaged in combat. The powerful Undead Berserker Doro as well as the killing flame Kasai are both fighting against each other with their lives on the line
And they both are having the time of their life.
"DORO SMASH!" (Doro)
The ogre is letting out a loud roar while swinging his gigantic club towards his small flaming opponent. Instead of dodging it, the red haired shorty tries to block the enormous club with an axe that is nearly as big as the Ogre he's facing. Surprisingly, he succeeds in blocking the strike which results into a small explosion of fire and power that pushes both of them apart.
"You are really a lot of fun, big guy! Come on, was that all? Show me more!" (Kasai)
The cocky guy jumps around in excitement. He rarely gets to fight someone that can compare with his pure strength. Doro on the other hand feels rather angry. To have such a small individual mock him hurts his pride.
"Doro show you, true strength." (Doro)
The undead ogre rushes forward once again, but instead of simply striking his foe another time, he decides to use one of the skills he acquired after becoming Sirius' servant. He activates 'Rage infused Strike' and bundles all the anger within him into his club, which starts glowing faintly because of that.
The enormous club swings down and the red haired foe once again tries to block it. He is surprised by the pure force behind this swing as he is barley able to withstand it. The ground under his feet was not as strong though and with a crushing sound it gives in as the boy travels approximately four metres into it.
Satisfied with the result Doro readies himself to swing his weapon once again as soon as his enemy emerges out of the ground. Instead of doing so, Kasai sends a pillar of flame out of the hole which forces Doro a few steps back. The axe wielder uses this chance to jump out of the hole and swings his glowing axe at the ogre.
Doro quickly rises his club to block the attack but only barely managed to direct the swing away from his chest, and onto his shoulder. As the axe buries itself deeply into Doros body, because of the great heat within the blade, it immediately burns the flesh around it. Enough heat to smelt iron and even steel forces Doro to let out a bone chilling scream. While the redhead in front of him only flashes a smile.

"HAHA! SCREAM BIG GUY! LET ME HEAR IT! COME ON! LOUDER!" (Kasai)
The pain and rage makes Doro blind as he starts swinging his club around, infusing every strike with rage. Kasai has to quickly retreat away from the giant, while Doro is hitting one small crater after another into the ground, destroying the environment in the progress.
Suddenly, green marks appear on the ogres body and his great size increases even further. His arms swell up as strength flow into them. The muscles on his whole body grow to be even thicker and more powerful while his eyes turn into the same glowing green colour as the marks on him.
With an open mouth, Kasai looks at the monstrosity in front of him.
"...I said louder, not bigger." (Kasai)
With a stone shattering roar Doro starts to charge into Kasais direction, leaving only destruction behind him. In response, Kasai decides to let all his power flow into the blade of his axe, which turns the heat up to a whole new level as the axe shines brightly .
The heat is strong enough to even melt the armour of the short man, burning him in the process. He endures the pain while charging as well in Doros direction. Both of the crazy warriors scream loudly as they clash against each other.
A very powerful shock wave, filled with incredible heat, bursts out from in between them, crushing the ground beneath the mad warriors. Instead of getting repelled by said explosion, both of them withstand it and do not back down.
Kasai takes one step back and swings his axe in hope for a lucky hit. Instead of dodging or blocking, Doro just takes the attack head on while swinging his own weapon. The redhead didn't expect such a move and is quite surprised by it. He only barley manages to dodge the initial attack, but he isn't able to get away from the resulting shock wave that sends him flying a few steps back.
While still on the ground he looks up to discover Doro, who is currently coming at him. A bit out of panic, a bit out of stupidity, Kasai decides to throw his only weapon. Out of luck though, his axe hits Doro directly on the shoulder that was already wounded, which makes Doro stagger a bit.
Not wanting to let this chance fly by, Kasai quickly jumps on his feet and rushes towards his foe. He pushes himself away from the ground to reach the axe that was embedded deeply into the huge ogres shoulder. Using his own pathetic weight, but also all of his strength he forces his axe down through Doros shoulder.
With an awful scream the ogres arm as well as his weapon fall onto the ground. Kasai relaxes, seeing how he almost won the fight. This act turns out to be a huge mistake, as the ogre grabs the whole body, of the small warrior, with a single hand. Kasai noticed his mistake too late and is now captured by his enemy.
"AHH! WAIT! STOP! LET GO!" (Kasai)
Doro slowly lifts Kasai up to be on the same eye level as him and whispers a few words towards the redhead.
"Doro, smash." (Doro)
With those words, he indeed smashes his victim into the ground. And then again. And again. And again. Until Kasai stops struggling and lies motionless in Doros fist. He let's go of Kasais broken body and sits on the ground while the marks on his body slowly fade away and he begins to shrink in size.
Tired and exhausted Doro only wants to sleep. But he can't. He needs to help out his great master! The man that bought him back after defeating him! He can't sit around here, while he is fighting! He has to help him! Doro can feel Sirius near by, he needs to quickly get to him.
With new vigour Doro stands up and walks towards his master, only to find himself in a very confusing and surreal situation.
"And then I married her." (Sirius)
"Heeeeeh? For real now? That's pretty crazy, you know?" (Kaze)
"That's not even the craziest part! Now listen carefully, aft- Oh? Doro? Where were you? What have you been doing all that time?" (Sirius)
Sirius was sitting on the ground and idly chatting with that strange wind guy. This confused Doro greatly.
"… Doro was smashing?" (Doro)
"Are you the one responsible for all those roars and explosions? Can you smash more quietly next time? It started to get annoying." (Sirius)
"Heeeeeh? Don't be so hard to him, Kasai is a pretty crazy one, you know?! Look, he's even missing an arm!" (Kaze)
"Really? Wow you are right. I'm kinda disappointed now. Well get you arm so Saxin can reattach it. What are you waiting for? Don't fake any exhaustion!" (Sirius)
"…." (Doro)
It was at that moment that Doro realized, how hard his life truly is.

Authors note: Do you like sad ogres?
Well this chapter basically only contained a big fight, didn't it? Sadly, I suck at fight scenes. I hope it wasn't to bad, sorry guys.
Thanks a lot to Leath for proofreading this chapter! A loud round of applause for him!
Also, thanks to the guy that donated 1§ to me...

Transmigration Retiree
"What's that you say? I can never leave this reality ever? Good!" Ed, was a normal man in a world full of superheroes, so he didn't really have too many complaints when that first truck fell on him. After all he'd read enough comics to know that sometimes things just happen. Besides he'd been getting on in years when it happened, and his life till then, though lonely, had more or less been fully lived. The second time around when that one guy pushed him off a cliff for a chalice of immortal ambrosia, wasn't so cool though, and then there was that third time when he was just getting used to life as a lady, and that crazy goddess showed up out of nowhere and started ranting about purging the demon menace....then some other stuff happened and he briefly got to go back to earth before falling into a coma where he adventured in the world of dreams. Then the aliens came, and the dream ended and he was suddenly stuck being the AI Overmind for the whole damn star systm. The aliens died, and because he was all mechanical and what-not he just kind of had to keep on going. Forced to continue collecting the materials and data from countless worlds that were destoryed in the process. Then there was that whole war with the gods business that followed...mostly because of all that world destroying he did because of some fairly faulty programming. Anyway, thankfully someone pulled a "rocks fall" on that whole curfuffle, because by the time he was in control of himself again, things had long gotten out of hand. Now the powers-that-be tell him that he must spend the rest of his existence in single lonely section of the cosmos. Trapped in a single portion of a single universe. And now he weeps...No worries though, these are tears of joy. Hopefully this final unending existence he's been given will be the quiet life he's been looking for. A Man who's seen everything gets abducted by aliens and is converted into an AI that sits at the helm of a fleet of alien ships and behind the computer systems for most their planets. This Alien AI goes to war with the gods and ends up nearly destroying an entire reality. The Angels condemn the troublemaking AI to life as normal child on a far off world....All truth said, the "AI" couldn't be happier. His life's been far too interesting(read: Scary, Inconvenient and Painful) in his opinion and he could do with a bit of normalcy.

Is their destiny set in stone, or will they forge a different path? No matter what, their choices will bring forth a new era for Mendala. ------------------------------ If you love vast fantasy worlds, rich, fleshed-out characters, and a adventure where your'e constantly discovering new things along the way, then this is definitely a story you'll enjoy. This is a slow-burn high fantasy / adventure with many characters and intersecting plotlines. It’s a quest so lots of adventuring, exploring, and character moments, but not a ton of fighting/action (though there are definitely some great fight scenes as payoff to the buildup). Because it’s a fantasy world with lots of people and new concepts, I try to make it easy so that you don’t have to memorize anything. The narrative will constantly remind you of important people/places/concepts as you keep moving forward. Some things won’t be fully explained right at the beginning to avoid information overload. My goal is that the reader will learn things organically as the story progresses. I use two mechanisms to help with the intersecting plotlines. - Each chapter is named for the (main) plotline it’s following and which part. - At the beginning of the chapter, and anytime there is a scene shift, the location is listed. Also, though this is definitely a portal-fantasy (isekai) it’s different from the standard isekai, especially since the world transfer doesn’t happen immediately. It’s not Lit-RPG but characters gain powers and grow over time. Also, it’s a group of teens that transfer, not just one central character. All of the teens are distinct characters, with their own character-arcs, relationships, powers, growth etc. Hopefully you’ll find this interesting as you’ll see the world and story from multiple perspectives. The story is always in 3rd Person (Omniscient) POV so that it’s not jarring as perspectives shift.
