《The Dungeon Hive- Volume 2》Part 17- The Unicorn Glade

The Great Kar Forest was huge and the Eye was wandering aimlessly through it. The Nature spirit controlling the Eye knew it originally came from the forest but back then it was just a mindless non-sentient magical being. It was here in the forest but back then it didn't feel, smell, or hear. It does now. The Nature spirit was feeling everything it pass and it couldn't get enough of it. It felt alive.
Halfway through it's wandering, the Nature spirit controlling the Eye felt the strange energy. Curious at what it was, the Nature spirit decided to investigate and found the Unicorn Glade. Unlike the other creatures the hive had created, the Unicorns seldom came back to the tunnels. They made their home in the Great Kar Forest and only occasionally returned to the hive. The hive didn't really mind. The spirits within the hive had heard of the Kin speaking about the other homes they had created outside the tunnels and for the most part didn't really care about them. The Unicorn Glade made them wondered if they had made a mistake.
The moment the Eye floated into the Unicorn Glade, the hive felt the energy of the place. An energy that was different from the forest. There was a sense of peace and serenity in this glade and the source of the feelings was a small pool of water that was in the middle of the glade. As the Eye approached the shining pool of water, the spirits within the hive noted the two young Unicorn foals and were glad to see them. There weren't many horses around so the spirits had never made any new Unicorns since the original five. They were glad to see that the population of the Unicorns was growing without them but seeing the foals made some of the spirits suggest that the hive make more Unicorns in the future.
For now, the hive was only interested in the strange pool of water. Floating above the pool, the Eye looked at the waters and could sense the magic in it. The problem was that the Eye had no idea why the pool was magical and what effects it had. On a wimp, the Nature spirit controlling the Eye cast 'Appraisal'. The hive immediately felt energy draining from the Eye. It seems that the cost of casting the spell was taken from the Eye and not from the hive. The spirits quickly decided that this was because the Eye away from the tunnels and there was no way for the Eye to take the energy as it was away from the hive's area of influence.

It was good information to know and the spirits within the hive quickly decided to never do it again. Not only was there an increase in energy cost, the results of the 'Appraisal' was less than desirable. All the hive got from the appraisal was a strange name, 'The Resting Pool'. Outside the name, there was nothing of note. The appraisal didn't give the hive any information on what the pool did or how it came to be. This was especially frustrating to the hive as the spirits could clearly see the effects the hive had on the surroundings. The flora surrounding the pool was different and even without 'Appraisal', the hive knew that the pool had change the grass surrounding the pool in some ways. The spirits within the hive went into a discussion/argument conference and it was a lively one. The hive had just decided never to use 'Appraisal' outside the tunnels and some of the spirits within the hive were in disbelief that they were going to go back on their decision so soon. Others within the hive couldn't care less about breaking the decision they just made. They were curious about the grass.
As the spirits within the hive argued, the Eye just do nothing but float above the pool of water. At first, the Nature spirit controlling the Eye waited for the discussion/argument conference to end but after a long wait, it could see that the conference was going nowhere. Bored with the waiting, the Nature spirit decided to take things into it's own hands. The Nature spirit took the energy that was powering the Eye and cast the 'Appraisal' spell. Much like the pool, the results were unsatisfactory. The strange flora was named 'Healing Grass' but outside that, there no further information from the appraisal. The hive was in an uproar at the Nature's spirit decision and a new crack appeared on the crystal that housed the hive. The Nature spirit just ignored the rest of the hive and float away from the pool.
As the Eye got further and further from the Unicorn Glade, the daylight fade and the spirits within the hive went into conference on what the 'The Resting Pool' and 'Healing Grass' were. Most of the spirits thought that the Unicorns must have created them somehow and wondered how they did it. The spirits decided they were going to tell the Kin the location of the Unicorn Glade and get them to take some of the 'Healing Grass' back to the tunnels. Once the hive had absorbed the 'Healing Grass', the spirits believe they should be able to recreate it within the tunnels. The waters in the pool were another matter however. The hive had absorbed various kinds of potions before but whenever it tried to recreate them, the quality of the potions was poor. Usually the hive just recreates the various plants and herbs needed and the Speaker and her potion-making students would mix the items to create the needed potions for the Kin. Recreating the strange waters of the pool might not be possible for the hive but the spirits had never let the possibility of failure stopped them before. The hive decided to order the Kin to bring back some of the waters as well. With the ninth floor of the tunnels done, the hive had been wondering about the creation of the tenth floor. Maybe they would use the floor to create another underground forest; that would be a good change of pace from all the mazes they had.

As the spirits within the hive grew excited over that idea, the Nature spirit controlling the Eye sensed another strange source of energy. After seeing the Unicorn Glade, the Nature spirit excitedly headed towards the new source of energy. The source of the energy was in a camp. The Eye saw that there were several human sitting around a fire and some of them was casting some sort of spell. Humans being in the Great Kar wasn't all that special. Even though the Kin had control of the great forest, the Kar was a big forest and there was no way the Kin could patrol every inch of it. Still, humans were a rare sight in the forest nowadays. Curious about the reason why the humans were in the forest, the Eye moved forward. The Nature spirit controlling the Eye tried to keep itself hidden but the humans must have been wary of attacks because one of them spotted the Eye almost immediately. The human's eyes widen at the sight of the Eye and he shouted a warning to his comrades.
"Behold! A monster!"
The rest of the humans jumped up and saw the Eye. They looked at the Eye in fear but that did not stop them. Spells and arrows flew through the air and the Eye was struck several times. The Eye couldn't fight back and having wasted some of it's energy at the Unicorn Glade, the Nature spirit controlling the Eye didn't have the energy to maintain the spell. Left with no choice, the Nature spirit gave up the spell and the Eye disappeared in the air. The Nature spirit controlling the Eye went straight back to the hive and it was in a rage. All the Eye did was float there and look at them but those humans just attacked it for no reason! Within the crystal that was the hive, the Nature spirit screamed with anger.
"THAT WAS SO RUDE!"

In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.
