“Edge of the world? What is this edge of the world the humans are talking about? The world is round isn’t it?”
“Yes it is! We Earth spirits could feel the land and it is definitely circular.”
“Air spirits travel on the wind and we are sure the world is round.”
“We travel on the currents of the…”
“Okay, okay, okay! Enough already, it wasn’t really a question. We know the world is round but how come the humans are saying that the world has an edge?”
“Who knows? More importantly, who cares? Why should we bother about the humans? They are stupid.”
“We should at least clear this up. Why don’t we ask the demons? Most of them were humans before the change right? They should know what the humans were talking about.”
“Why? We just want them here to kill them right? The humans are just energy and entertainment to us right? Why should we care?”
“Uh…we’re curious.”
“…okay, that’s a good reason. Let’s ask.”
When the Fire Hive first came to Mount Morningstar, it was not impressed with it’s new home. Sure it was a dormant volcano and the Fire spirits could feel the lava below the ground but there wasn’t much to do. There were creatures around the volcano but changing them could only entertain the Fire Hive for so long. The fickle Fire spirits demand variety so they decided to entertain themselves by redecorating.
Earth spirits might be happy just to dig and move the earth around but the Fire spirits were not. They had no desire to be just diggers and luckily there was no need for them to do so. When it first arrived at Mount Morningstar, the Fire Hive immediately discovered that there were numerous lava tubes below the surface. The Fire Hive broke through and enlarged the tubes. In some cases even that was unnecessary as the ceased lava flow of the volcano had left behind naturally large caves. That was good but the Fire Hive wanted to leave their own mark on their new homes so the Fire spirits called forth red hot lava from the ground and directed the flow through several caves. After some time, this flow of lava became a river of lava and the Fire Hive began experimenting on creating creatures that could survive within the lava river. One of their successes was a creature named “The Lava Fish”. There were serious arguments within the hive on the name as the creature was more like an eel or a fat snake but the majority of the Fire spirits elected to name it a fish so the name struck. The Fire Hive moved on to other creations soon after but the Lava Fish remained within the river of lava and they soon multiplied. Nowadays the fish are a good food source and fishing had become a favorite pastime for the demons. This was what the black demon bear named Hellmight was doing when the Fire Hive found him.

The huge black-furry demon was standing still in the lava river which came to his knees. Small flames could be seen on his legs but the demon ignored the heat and flames and was looking intently at the flow of the lava. Suddenly the demon swiped at the lava river and a splash of molten lava spill onto bank of the river. The former human warrior smiled as he saw the Lava Fish flapping on the hard ground. Only then did the Fire Hive made their presence known. The Fire Hive asked the demon bear a simple question.

2 floors above the lava river was the cave the demons had begun calling ‘The Colony of the Fire Fairies’. A cave with a high ceiling, this was the home of the Fire Fairies. The fairies craved out small rooms high up along the walls of the cave and made their homes there with their families. The fact that they could now have children was something the fairies were still amazed by. Led by the five Fire Fairies who first brought the Fire Hive to Mount Morningstar, the fairies were discussing plans on rescuing more fairies and bringing them to the Fire Hive. Some of the fairies were wondering if the first Hive could do the same thing as the Fire Hive and wanted to bring the fairies there if they were nearer. Others were of the mind that all the fairies they gathered should only be brought back to the Fire Hive. It was in one of these debates that the Fire Hive found the most of the Fire Fairies. It asked them the same question.
***
In another cave within Mount Morningstar was another group of demons. Like most of the other demons within the volcano, the Spider demons had grouped together but unlike other demons, it was not a totally happy family and they now reside in several caves.

At first the Spider demons only took one cave but as the demons spun their webs, the demons found that their web designs were very different from each other. Some preferred to spin their webs into super thick mess in corners; others like the traditional spiral wheel design; there was one group that like to spin their webs into house-like structures with a front entrance and a back exit. The Fire Hive actually like all the different designs of the Spider demons but the demons did not. For some reason that the spirits did not understand, arguments often erupted between the Spider demons on their web designs and which of them was superior. When it got too much, the Fire Hive told the various Spider demons to take up residences in other adjacent caves.
So now there was a series of caves that were full of spider webs and their owners were locked in healthy but at times unfriendly competition with each other. Through it didn’t quite understand the term, the Fire Hive had heard the other demons using the word ‘frenemy’ to descript the Spider demons. Well, it was of no concern of the Fire Hive. The Fire Hive choose a female Spider demon who was weaving her web underside down from the ceiling and asked her the question.
***
“I/we can’t believe it!” A spirit within the Fire Hive said. “All of them said that the world is flat!”
“Yeah! It’s unbelievable!” Another spirit agreed. “How could the humans not know such a simple fact that the world is round?”
“No idea!”
“Idiots”
“Stupid!”
“Let’s teach them the truth!”
“What? Why?”
“You want to fight morons that don’t even know that the world is round?”
“Good point”
“True”
“Correct!”
“Good idea”
“LET’S DO IT!”
With a loud cheer, the Fire Hive came to a swift agreement. The Fire Hive gather a small amount of energy and got to work. A ball of lava floated up from the lava river; a ball of air appeared in the Colony of the Fire Fairies; and a bunch of spider webs gathered to form a floating ball. The Fire Hive got all three balls to spin and told the various demons the harsh truth.
“You guys are just too ignorant. Let us give you some knowledge. This is the shape of the world and it is round.”
