《Fantastical Stapler》Chapter 7: The Trip Part 2

A monster twice his size. Bloodshot eyes that would not hesitate, even in front of children. Strong enough to level a street. This was the monster that Sincan was faced with. The only thing he could do was think, "How the hell did I get here?"
He thought back to when it started. He woke up that morning, ready to set the trap that he and Moris had devised. They made their way over to Lori and began. They would tail her from afar while she made her way to the office.
Everything was going fine until a gang showed up.
???: "We warned you, now go home or I'll make you?"
Lori needed to bait their leader more so that they would have enough evidence to incriminate them.
Lori: "Not happening this time, just let me go to work!"
???: "Go home or I'll smash your head in. Don't test me!"
He raised his bat in a menacing manner to scare her. She provoked him more until finally he swung his bat in her direction.
The bat missed as Sincan had just arrived. He grabbed the bat with his tail and punched the man in his face.
???: "Son of a-"
Moris arrived as well at the moment and they both grouped up with Lori.
Moris: "We got what we needed, now let's go!"
Sincan: "Alright!"
Sincan used the wind bracelet he had to blow one of the gangsters away while Moris escorted her.
???: "The girl doesn't matter, That Derlin bastard recorded us!"
Every one of the gang members set their sight on Moris.
Moris*: "God, why me?"
But their next move was unexpected. They started readying spells to use against Sincan and the rest.
Sincan*: "What the hell, they're just kids!"
The spells fired one by one at them. There was no way Sincan could think of to survive this. The spells all exploded in one place where nothing was left.
Sincan closed his eyes and felt a burning pain on his tail. He couldn't see anything but could hear the faint sound of breathing.
Lori: "Keep your voices down."
Moris: "They actually tried to kill us!"
Lori: "Shut up, we're right under them. Try to calm down."
Sincan flinched from the pain that he was feeling.
Sincan: "We need to go to the police, and fast."
Lori: "Agreed, but we need to wait first."
Moris had calmed down a bit and spoke.
Moris: "We have air in here, right?"

Lori: "Yeah but it wont last long, I'm not good enough with force magic to make it last so long."
Sincan: "Those guys must be confused. Let's bust out of here and run to the nearest building."
Lori: "I don't have anything better so we'll go with your idea."
And so they waited until they were ready and Moris had calmed down. They burst out of the ground and ran straight into the back entrance of a building.
???: "Don't let them leave!"
They chased after them into the building. Sincan ordered them to split up so that they didn't have to worry about one another.
Sincan took the stairs closest to the back entrance while 4 people chased him. He was climbing the stairs when one of the gang members started moving much quicker.
Sincan*: "Goddamnit. Maybe a charm would help."
He used one of the wind revolutions (Spells) that he learned from the dominity exercises. It was a wind charm that let him jump higher and be more mobile in the air. There was an open area between the stairs that he started using to get to the other stairs. Whenever he reached a railing he would jump off again which made it easy for him to lose his pursuers.
---
Moris was having a bit more trouble. He was in an open area on the ground floor and was surrounded by 3 people . There was a pool in the middle of the area. They started throwing chairs and Revolutions at him that he would have to dodge. One of the spells caught his arm and burnt it. He dropped to the ground in pain while the gang members started running towards him. They were getting closer and closer.
Moris*: "Got you now!"
He manipulated the water and grabbed all three of the pursuers and plunged them into the pool. He dipped his hand into the pool and fromed an ice prison out of it for them while leaving their heads exposed.
He also healed his arm in the pool, leaving his clothes the only sign of the wound. Before walking away, he spoke.
Moris: "It'll thaw in about 10 minutes, enjoy it till then."
He left for the stairs and made his way up.
----
Lori had made it to the other side of the building and exited. She was still being chased and could not lose them . She closed the exit behind her as quickly as she could. The gangsters made their way through the exit but could not find the girl anywhere. Lori dropped down from the wall and kicked them with her crystal magic enhanced foot. They fell unconcious as Lori climbed to the top of the building.

Sincan, Moris and Lori made it to the top of the building and met up with each other.
Moris: "What do we do now?"
Sincan: "Easy enough, we jump!"
Sincan took Moris and Lori and started jumping buildings. The gang members were gaining on them though and they were tired. They ran and ran but could never shake them off.
Sincan*: "This isn't working! How are they so persistant!"
Lori made a crystal wall on their next jumping point that caught most of the gang members and made them fall down. Sincan made sure to lighten their fall.
The leader was still pursuing them and had made his way there. He did not seem to be tired, in contrast to Sincan and the rest. Sincan tried coming up with an idea but got nothing in return. then Moris chimed in.
Moris said breathing heavily: "Sincan I've got an idea. Go towards a construction site."
Sincan said while heaving: "You sure?!"
Moris replied: "Not really!"
And so they ran towards the nearest construction site. Most of the workers were gone so they made their way in. The gang leader followed them in.
Leader: "And now you've trapped yourselves. You people really aren't that smart, are you?"
Moris: "Guess not. Sincan, now!"
Sincan used his wind magic to blow a bunch of dust out of a container, creating a smokescreen. This blinded the gang leader and all he could see were silhouettes running weirdly. He cleared the dust with a rapidly expanding thin layer of water. He ran towards the people in his sight.
Moris: "Wait for it..."
As the gang leader was approaching again, Lori held on to Moris's phone.
Lori: "You want it that bad? Well go get it then!"
She put Moris's phone in the ground and used crystal magic to bury it underground and create a shield. He was not amused.
Leader: "What's stopping me from getting rid of you and getting the phone afterwards?"
Moris: "The fact that the video is being sent right as we speak."
The leader of the gang became worried at that prospect which gave Sincan and the crew enough time to escape.
They eventually climbed down and took a taxi to the police station to report their findings.
----
Sincan: "And then we escaped."
Police chief: "You have any proof of this encounter you speak of?"
Sincan: "Right here."
He presented Moris's phone which had Lori's phone cover on it.
Moris: "We fooled him with a fake phone."
The police examined the evidence and came back to report.
Chief: "I'm sorry boys but we can't use this piece of evidence in any meaningful way."
Sincan*: "Are you shitting me?!"
Moris: "Why not!"
Chief: "Under the city's legal system, this does not qualify as assault."
Sincan: "Our clothes are ripped up, we have multiple eye witnesses and video evidence of the crime. What else do you need!"
Chief: "A physical attack connecting with the victim..."
Sincan can't think of anything to say and his anger is clouding his judgement, so he leaves. Moris and Lori follow after him.
As they're walking out of the station, they meet an oddly dressed individual. He puts his hand up in a mocking manner and speaks.
Priest: "Justice system, am i right?"
Sincan: "Yeah. Who are you..?"
Priest: "Just a priest from the church. Seems as though you couldn't arrest those guys, huh?"
Sincan: "It's none of your business."
Priest: "See it actually is. Want to know why they couldn't arrest those guys? Simple, The mayor's son is part of the gang. So if word got out that the mayor's son's been involved in some shady business, that's bad for HIS business."
Sincan*: "Of course it is. Damn it, at this rate we can't do anything."
Priest: "Lucky for you, Priests of the church can overrule an order when it involves heretics."
Moris: "What are you on about? It was a gang of teenagers, not a bunch of cultists."
Priest: "Yeah and a gang of teens aren't legally allowed to have wheels."
The sudden realization made them jump. They should've realized it sooner, no one except the church is allowed to apply wheels onto a person. They have this power so that entire terrorist groups can't get wheels.
Moris asked fearfully: "So what your saying is.."
Priest: "My name is Angelo, a high priest of the church of Hath. And yes, there is a heretic in this city and it is my job to get rid of him."
