《Mystic Ink》It could be worse, but not by much.

After “greeting” Cass, Rat went back towards an archway in the far wall. A separate room, perhaps? Cass tried to avoid attention, but she had been arrested once before. The cell she was put in was cramped, dark, and damp and it definitely did not have a second room. She had been lucky that a kind hearted guard had released her, but she did not hope that it would happen a second time.
Another person came towards her, a girl, maybe a year older than Cass herself, with dark, wavy hair. Every Boss had underlings, and Cass prepared herself for the worst, she would probably be beaten to make certain that she “knew her place.”
“Don’t worry none,” the girl said as she saw Cass flinch. “Ain’t nobody going to hurt somethin’ that Rat claimed. I would know, cause I’m Birdie.”
Cass did not relax, Birdie’s hair might be long, but Cass noticed the bruises on her neck. They looked vaguely like handprints, even if the others wouldn’t touch her, she was far from safe.
Birdie noticed her glance and laughed, “Everythin’s got a price kid, you should know that much if you came off the street.”
Cass nodded, she did indeed know that. And considering the broken kid in the corner, some bruises might be a small price to pay… But that did not stop her fear.
She let Birdie take her hand and pull her forward and introduce her to some of the other kids in the cell, nodding when she was supposed to and keeping her mouth shut. Orphans learned quickly that no one wanted to hear them, and that few people were shy about letting a noisy orphan know that with fists and feet.
“Heh, you’re even quieter than most of the dregs dragged in here.” Birdie snorted, “At least tell us what to call you.”

“Cass.” Her reply was quiet, few orphans had a real name and few people had a real name as dangerous as hers. She would have lied, but if someone in here knew her and told Rat, Cass did not want to imagine the punishment.
Birdie blinked, then sneered. “Ha, looks like we got ourselves a little noblewoman. My apologies, Milady.” Birdie did an exaggerated bow as the others snickered.
Cass silently cursed the priest who had given her that name, back when she was too young to realize the danger it had. Cass was short for Cassandra, which was a noble name. For an orphan to even have a part of a nobles name bordered on blasphemy, which was another reason for Cass to keep her mouth shut around others. As much as the thugs and thieves and whores of the streets hated nobles, they would never be able to take out their anger on them, but Cass was close at hand. Even though she was no more nobility than she was a tree, the name alone was reason for some to vent their rage on her.
“Birdie, don’t be sucha bitch.” A ten year old boy drawled out, Cass remembered his name was Stone. “Ain’t got much of a choice wit’ your name, right? It is what it is.”
“Come to think,” Stone continued, “You should be thankin’ Cass since Boss took a likin’ to her. Gods know we all are tired of hearin’ your voice every night.”
Birdie scowled at Stone but said nothing else before sighing. “Your right Stone, just street habits die hard.”
Cass was shocked to see the apology and even more stunned when Birdie calmed down and turned to her.
“You must be havin’ some questions.” Birdie unnerved Cass, she alternated between nice and sneering, so she could not get a read on her. “Go ahead and ask.”

Cass weighed the dangers of responding or not responding, feeling anxious that she could not tell which was worse. But the expectant silence was also nerve wracking, so she squared her shoulders and asked.
“What is a laboratory?” She had heard Rat use the word, but she had no idea what it meant. Only that it had something to do with a magician, though she had only street rumours to tell her what a magician was to begin with. Some dregs said that magicians could turn invisible and kill with a glance, others said that they did not even exist and were just fairy tales.
“Ha!” Birdie laughed, “They don’t think of us dregs as people, you know? That bastard magician keeps us here like a rich folk would keep chickens or ducks. And uses us much the same.”
“He eats us?” Cass’s eyes widened and a tremor went through her body. Even dregs would avoid cannibalism if it could be helped.
“Not quite,” It was Stone who replied this time. “We are ingredients for his “experiments.” Whatever the fuck they are.”
“They will probably be comin’ soon,” Birdie said. “Best start praying you aren’t chosen. The Boss is gentle compared to those fucks.”
Cass shivered, the eyes of the crowd around her had turned from hunger to abject terror. What kind of mess had she landed in?

The Madec Legacy
The dawn of Emotion Based A.I.s is here, John is the fifth test subject to have an AI implemented in his brain, and so far the first one to survive. Blinded by the dream of immortality, the researchers push the tests to inhumane standards. John is obligated to take part in sessions of torture designed to test the limits of the AI influence over the physical and mental health. What was supposed to be a new beginning in life turns into living hell. An (un)lucky twist ends his life. John then reincarnates with his AI in a new world where a System influences the interaction between Magic and Matter. With seemingly limitless potential and a game-like system influencing the world, the hero sets on his journey. --AUTHOR NOTE, PLEASE READ-- I will state here my promises to you, potential reader: 1. No harem! I don't trust myself to make a harem feel natural or healthy, I never met any person who has a personality that can adapt and live in a harem for reasons that are not monetary, so I can't draw inspiration from real life. Sorry!; 2. The enemies will not be bland and illogically mean. Some may feel like that at first, but I will take great care in fleshing them out, trust me. You may end up hating some, but you won't be able to deny that they had their reasons for what they did; 3. I am using a paid (and expensive) automated editor tool, and I take longer to write because I take my time in editing the stuff. I am aiming to improve and I will not shy away from constructive criticism, nor take offense for no reason; 4. Characters will die and will suffer, some will get over the tragedies and improve, others will not be as resilient. 5. This novel has a lot of ground to cover, it is neither a short story, a manual on crafting, or the script of some action scene. There will be both time skips and oversimplifications of some actions for the sake of moving the story forward. Time skips will be more prominent in the first 30 chapters. I will describe crafting processes and fights with more detail if they are essential for the chapter; 6. If I took my time describing something, it's because it is important. I hate novels that waste time describing useless stuff. If you skim over something, the chances are that something in the future will not make sense. I am an adept of "Chekhov's gun" principle; 7. I already have 31k words on my auxiliary documents, I have a plan for the story, and I will not be making changes even if someone ends up noticing some foreshadowing and figures out what will happen. The story comes first. 8. I have a wife, a job that demands 9h every day and courses related to my job (lawyer) three days of the week, it's unlikely that I will be able to do mass releases at all. I will have a healthy amount of chapters to be able to post at least 1 chapter every day continually. Don't worry. 9. I will read all the comments. I will listen to all you have to say and will try my best to accommodate demands as long as they do not hamper the path I prepared. 10. There is an arc that spans the entire novel. Each volume will be an arc in itself while progressing a little bit of the main arc. Every arc will have one or more main antagonists. I think that's it! Thank you for reading it all. Have an awesome time reading my first novel!!

If you see mistakes then please inform me and I will correct them. I have gained inspiration from a great deal that I have read on RR and elsewhere. Thank you.

The Third Spire
It has been decades since the Wizardly Order rose and helped the Realm to banish the monstruos Elfey from its lands by building the Five Spires. The kingdom has prospered greatly in the time since, advancing both in the magical arts and the more mundane technology. The Wizards have grown too, gaining influence and spreading throught the Realm, Wizards' Towers dotting the landscape on many regions. But as the Realm grows and starts looking beyond its borders, the Wizards are faced with one insidious enemy inside its own borders. Master Garner, a wizard in the scarcely populated far West of the Realm, feels the situation getting out of hand, and a violent purge forces him out of his beloved Tower. The wizard takes his apprentices and allies in search of uncertain safety in the Third Spire. Some sources of inspiration for this story, for variable reasons: Riyria Chronicles, The Wandering Inn, Gentleman Bastard series. Note: First dedicated attempt at writing. I'm looking for feedback, and I will appreciate if you point out any mistakes. Updates: Tuesday, and every other Thursday, as life allows it.
