《Sky Prince》Q&A

Q&A
Q. Why did Slyfer have to get adopted?
A.Well, Old Sun made it quite clear that the dark elves do not easily accept outsiders. If Slyfer really wanted to win them over to his cause, he would have to do it. Sure, he is a dragon and if he showed himself they may have jumped to it, but do not forget the lies that were being spread as well as the spies that were already in the Dark Elves' Army. This brings us to the next thing. causing some unhappiness.
The punishment that he was going to recieve and the acceptance of it was to win the trust of the people. His end goal is to unite them all and compared to all the races the Dark Elves have accepted him the most at this stage. So it was not for nothing.
Q. Why the secrecy.
A. I have not made it a secret that the West has the power to crush the East, at this time. Why they have not, I have not yet revealed, but that is actually going to happen soon. Aldowin fears that by revealing himself, Slyfer may cause the West to attack prematurely + with all the spies an assasination attempt is not out of the question. The dragons dont want the truth revealed for the same reason and more. The other reasons has not been revealed yet, but I have touched upon it in later chapters. Some are personal and some are disitions made by all of them.
Q. Someone said that the girls fell in love at first sight.
A.1When Trisha and Slyfer met, he nearly killed her and she thought of him as a fool. "Beast" is not exactly flattering. Trisha was shunned by the High Elves growing up. She did not feel wanted and was teased for being different. A particular incident during her youth, involving her tail was also something that weighed heavily on her. Slyfer's acceptance of who she is and her differences is what sparked the relationship initially.

A.2When Slyfer first met Fira she wanted to use him for political reasons. This caused a large amount of drama later on in the story. Her emotiones only became genuin later on because she broke away from what her father wanted for her. When writing of her youth it should be obvious that she is actually a free spirited and straightforward person. Once she broke away from her father she kind of needed to discover herself once again and I believe she is still busy doing that, much like I imagine most of us have to.
A.3 Luna is more straight forward and was essentially a monster type thing. Slyfer suppresed that with his own beast like aura. That part, is still a part of her and has esentially submitted to Slyfer. I would not call what they have love at this stage as Slyfer sees her more as a little sister or something similar.
Q.Why is there so much Erratic behaviour and anger.
A. The dragons were basically betrayed by most races and left to fend for themselves when they were attacked. This anger spills into Slyfer whenever a leader or someone does something that cotradicts the pact they had. Slyfer struggles to deal with these changes in emotion and lashes out.
Q. Why did they leave the High Elves so easily.
A. I will remind you that it was Aldowin's descition to leave them and he did it because it was not the first time that they dissapointed him. The first was when he actually wanted to help the dragons. It may have been more a descition based on emotion than logic, but i dont really blame him. Some others followed him, but they were not enough to make a difference. He fought near the end of the war, just before the Western armies retreated and was only able to do so by giving up the right to be the next leader of his House. This is mainly why he was chosen to rais Slyfer.

Q. If Slyfer is a dragon, where is his pride?
A. This actually expands on the erratic behaviour. Slyfer is not only a dragon but part "human" as well. This causes him to be at war with himself. Sometimes his pride rules, but the "human" side also tries to control it.
Q. The MC is basically just a tool to be used and had no choice in joining the war or not.
A. This is essentially true, he was thrown off of the mountain and had to make a promise in order to survive. However looking at it later down the line. If he were to survive normally, become a farmer or whatever. Eventually he would be found and killed, enslaved, etc.(I would not have much of a novel if he decided to become a farmer.)
Added to this, yes, the races want to use him and yes others will try to as well and some may even accomplish it, but that is the nature of politics, I believe. Just like he will be used, he will use others.
I have also stated a few times that Slyfer wished to leave and go get strong somewher before going to kill Chronos, but what would be the point? What would he be saving and for who?
Q. Why did Slyfer forgive Trisha so easily after she tried to kill him?
A I would like to point out that he did not. They left the elves soon afterward. Yes it was because of something else, but I beleive their reception was also a contributor. Slyfer had also not interacted with anyone else except Aldowin so was awkward in how he handled things. When he laughed with Trisha after the geyser exploded it was not a sign of forgiveness, but a spur of the moment kind of thing.
I think that about answers most of the confusion. If you guys want to ask other questions of things that may not make sense to you. Please reply in the comment section below.
Please remember to vote on reviews you agree with and those you dont. It will make it easier for me to gauge if it is just one person that feels a certain way about the story or if it is more than that.
When the book is finished i will be doing a rewrite and this feedback will be essential to better Sky Prince and turn it into somethin greater.

Maitbudi
Fermboi was a man of one ideal: make the weak strong. When his rebellion against the king proved futile, he was given another chance at life. This time, he sought to do nothing after realizing the hopelessness of it all. Aventina wanted to do nothing more than to follow her father’s footsteps. On a retaliation raid against her tribe’s enemies, her brothers perished. Spared by a leader of her enemies, she returned home to find herself the chief of her tribe. Bolahulag, half-civilized and half-barbarian, half-lowborn and half-royal. Raised in his mother’s civilized tent in a sea of barbaric shelters, Bolahulag was hesitant to follow his paternal way of life. After a battle between a civilized king and his father, Bolahulag was sent as hostage to learn the economy and military of the nation his father defeated. Derai knew nothing more than being an orphan, but when a merchant took her in, the world she thought impossible soon became a reality. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.
