《Dungeon Games》Chapter Four: The First Hunt
Advertisement
This chapter will have some action in it, finally. I feel I have set enough of a baseline with information for the time being, so it's time to advance the Dungeon A.I, and Sidnie further while working toward the first evolution. I have yet to decide just what it will be yet however. I hope you enjoy this chapter however, gonna try to make it cover a good deal.
After we finished talking, I got up and went to Daddy's study. His Office was the old guest room next to their bedroom. It had book shelves everywhere! IT also had a big wooden desk that I loved to play assistant with. I giggled when I remembered how Daddy looked when he came home one day and saw me.
I found the Glasses, and the connector on his desk, and grabbed them.
The glasses were a full vision visor of sorts that that blocked all angles of your natural vision.
The hardest part, was keeping your real body from moving while you controlled the creature in question. It's why some people did it when they slept, and allowed the body to rest but worked the mind.
I just wanted to play with my cute Demons.
When I arrived back in my room, I got onto my bed, and got comfortable while hooking the set up, up.
Are you ready, Sidnie?
"Yes~" I said, and grinned as the process began.
It was disorienting, at first, feeling your body and the new one you gained control off. But I enjoyed feeling things other than my furniture!
Rocks felt gritty, I didn't like it much, but it was new!
I took a moment to orient myself properly within the new 'body' and looked around.
The Imps were regarding me oddly, Red's body must have fallen suddenly from flight when i took control.
A chattering, clacking sound came to me, but I understood it. "Missstresss?.." a small male Imp asked. Their words hurt my head a lot. Almost like screeching.
A nice point of this system allowed advanced players to dictate the power balance of there A.I Dungeon worlds if they gained a certain amount of races. For beginners like me, it helped gain knowledge and points via direct interaction and learning through trial and error.
Sidnie, are you alright? Shall we begin?
I nodded, Leo could see me better here, and I didn't want Red to be killed by the others for thinking she became weak, so i tried to act tough. grrrr.
"Beat it you puny wimp. I'm fine." I growled in her voice, and tried to not giggle. I kind of liked being the 'bad girl'.
Picking up the small body, and tested flapping my wings, and lifted off slowly. It was awkward, but it was so amazing!
After a moment, the Imp body I piloted helped fill the gaps in my human mind and I flew naturally. Then the window occurred.
Hunting Parties have been accessed, prepare for meat!
I was confused a moment, before realizing they had all seen it, and it must be natural for them. Then a sudden Screech rang out from them. "MEAT" they took it up as a chant, "MEAT, MEAT, MEAT, MEAT" Well that was...kind of scary actually, I wanted to cry seeing so many cruel faces twisted in hunger for flesh.

But I stuck it out. I wanted Daddy to be proud of me.
The big Male that was the Imp Tribe Leader came to the front and we all followed him, I was around the middle section of the moving swarm of nearly 150 Imps, and we took off toward the forest.
Apparently hunting parties meant 'swarm'
When we reached the forest, a vibrant thing of live and vitality, I took a moment to marvel at it all, and that was likely what saved me from the surprise attack made by a wild dog.
It took two small common Imps down in one jump, and savaged them. All around the swarm was being assaulted. This must be what Leo meant, the wild dogs were all around level three, and a great deal larger than us. Their were only three, at least.
But a full level of difference between us, and their sheer strength would make this hard. Suddenly the one that first struck, taking two of the Imps was set upon by forty of the smallest, and they began cutting him with Tooth, Claw, and stick. A few had stones and were pounding him.
The Leader was with another forty Imps attacking a larger Wild Dog that was killing an Imp almost every second, shaking them to the ground and crushing their little heads.
The third wild Dog was coming for me/Red. I panicked badly, and in that terror of seeing a larger, slavering dog coming to hurt me, I belched out a stream of fire, really just a small fire ball, that hit it in it's head, and it fell in one shot.
I was stunned a moment, and grinned before moving toward the big Wild Dog that the Imp Leader was fighting, a full 10 Imps had fallen in their assault on it already. The monster was viscous, and full of vitality and stamina.
I tried doing a war-cry I had seen some heroine in a movie do once, and it came out as a loud Screech, like nails on a chalk board. The large dog paused and regarded me a moment after killing another 2 Imps, and that's when the big male struck it upside the head with a large stone.
The angered dog Turned and snapped it's teeth at the Imp leader, and it managed to nab one of it's wings, bringing it to the ground in a cacophony of screeches of pain, and snarls.
Oh no. I flew as fast as my little wings would let me, and spit fire on the Wild Dog's hind quarters, and it yelped, releasing the savaged Imp Leader, who was breathing heavily, and turned toward me, growling.
I tried to spit another ball at it's head as it moved to charge me, and nothing happened. Their must be a limit.
I started screeching in a panic, and a Swarm of Imps suddenly appeared from both sides in a small pincer maneuver, they must have finished off the last Wild Dog, because it was the reaming 60 or so, plus the survivors of the first Wild Dog that had been swarmed.

Along with the 10 injured Imps that had remained alive from the first Swarm on this one.
I don't know why, but I felt the need, the urge, to dive in with them and attack the Wild Dog. So I did what the Imp Body was telling me too.
It took nearly thirty minutes before the big beast fell, dying from it's wounds.
The smell of blood and burning flesh from where I had spit fire on the first Wild Dog, and this ones flank assaulted my nose and I wanted to cry. It was scary, it was also traumatic seeing what the Imp survivors did to the wrecked bodies, and the dead Imps themselves.
The Injured Imps, those to hurt to move, were set upon in a feeding frenzy as well. I looked on in horror, and took off the glasses, and jumped off my bed, and rushed to the restroom off the side of my room and threw up into the toilet, crying while I did so.
Sidnie? Sidnie, what is wrong?
The worried note in Leo's voice in my head helped me slow my tears and gasps a bit, Mommy not showing up quickly meant she was out as well.
"So..*hic* scary.."
It will be fine Sidnie, I will not let you experience it again. I promise, filters will be put in place. I should have before.
I shook my head rapidly, and threw up again into the toilet.
"No *sniffle* Daddy, want to show him I'm a big girl and could...*hic, sob* handle it. No filters..But, no more hunts for me, for now, ok? *sniffle*"
Of course Sidnie, I will see what else we can do for you within my world.
I nodded, and after a few more moments of sniffling, and trying to calm down, with Leo trying to help in an odd way.
That made me smile, he was like Daddy, not knowing what to do, but wanting to help where he could.
I got up, washed my face, and moved back to my room, avoiding looking at the area of forest the hunt had occurred, I knew because the smaller swarm was returning.
I did a small nose sniffle one last time.
"Show me the numbers, and point gathered, please, Leo"
Yes, Sidnie.
Imp Numbers - 86
Variant Numbers - 1
Deaths (Friendly and otherwise) - 64
Imp Leader status - Alive
Points gained from the hunt - 230
I regarded it, and felt a little tummy tug before I turned from the deaths, knowing they had been eaten by the survivors, and looked at the points earn.
"How, How did we earn so many points?"
Because they performed a Pincer maneuver to save the Hell Fire Imp, along with you personally killing one Wild Dog. The Level difference added an extra amount. Each Dead Imp gave 2 points, and the three Dogs, with the skills exhibited provided the rest. The Imps have also unlocked the ability to formulate basic strategies through this. Current unlocked is the Pincer method.
I grimaced, and said ok.
The Imps within the Swarm have also risen to level 4, which allows for a greater accumulation of points due to stat increases within their base stats. Would you like to see available upgrades?
"Yes, please" I said without much heart. I was still in shock at the carnage I saw.
Available upgrades from each of the three main Tree's
Current Points after hunt, 321
Advancement Tree - 1 available
Allow complex strategies to be formed based on Swarm size. - 300
Skill Tree - 2 Available.
Increase Imps Base Defense - 200
Increase Imps Base Attack - 200
Evolution Tree - 3 Available
Husk Evolution - 300 points
Hell Hound Evolution - 300
Wisp Evolution - 300
I would recommend none at this time, Sidnie, and instead save up to allow us to make one of the Rare Variant Imps commonly born.
"Ok, Leo, how long for the numbers to replenish?" I asked hesitantly.
One day, should allow the new born that were to small to join the hunt to reach adult hood. It will max the population, and the females that are pregnant will have the terms increased naturally until the babes are able to be born. They will hunt two times a day, it will keep them fed, and allow the populations to regulate itself, both for the Imps, and the natural predators and prey within the Forest near their area.
I grimaced a bit, and frowned I did not like what I saw, but I had to be a tough girl for Daddy.
"I'll go on a hunt after we can ensure I don't...see the stuff I saw. Can you cut the connection after the hunt ends before it all happens?" I asked, a small plea in my voice. It had been so scary.
Yes, Sidnie, I shall do that from now on.
I sighed in relief, and left the room. "Have them do what they want then, wanna watch T.V with me? The next round in an armature tournament is happening."
Naturally Leo couldn't really 'watch' but he would see it through our link.
Yes, Sidnie, I would like to see what other Dungeons, and their owners do in these battles.
I left the room, and avoided looking at my Demons for now. When I calmed down, I would look, I promised myself.
Maybe watching the tournament would help, I thought as I reached the bottom stairs.
Here you go my darlings, I traumatize a little girl and feel like a monster. -cry- She will get over it, of course, but what ten year old little girl wouldn't be utterly traumatized by seeing that? Aside form a sociopath, which she is not.
As always, much love and cookies.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
