《Dungeon Core Abi》Chapter 13 : The Law

Dungeon Law Abi
Outside my dungeon;
Humans are fair game.
They kill each other and fight with monsters all the time. That means it does not matter if my monsters are the ones doing the killing and instead we should claim the XP for ourselves.
There are, however, guidelines to this rule:
You are not allowed to enter any town or city you come across just to kill people.
You are not to attempt any kill that can not be carried back to the dungeon by the members of the current team.
You are not to attack a group of armed humans who have more than two members in their party. If anyone manages to escape they'll be able to inform others of our location.
Inside my dungeon;
Monsters are not to harm or kill any human unless they pass the Shed of Salvation.
Once they have passed the priests and after being warned, then their death is allowed unless I have stated otherwise.
In fact, it is encouraged as you all need the level ups.
Anywhere you may find yourself, ever;
If the monster, human, flower or whatever it is in front of you looks remotely cute or attractive, then make sure you bring it back to the dungeon.
Anything that is beautiful is a must!
If you cannot transport it yourself then make the dungeon aware when you return and request assistance.
The most important thing to remember is never, under any circumstances, bring back a Goblin for absorption or you may end up finding yourself going with it.
There will be more rules to follow.
For now, these are to be followed to the best of your ability until we acquire some outside land upon which time some rules will be altered.
Signed
Abi the almost Merciful X
Dropper and Light return on time, just as Me said they would. It seems like they really do have some type of internal clock. The familiar sight of the duo makes me happy, but this time they are dragging the remains of a Troll behind them.
On the ground.
Together.
I can see it beginning to absorb and in a second I'll receive a familiar notification about a monster acquisition, DP and XP.
However, I'm a little too furious to care and begin scolding the hardworking Rogues. "What the hell? Is there going to be a big line of entrails and blood leading all the way to my dungeon?" I critique their work harshly and make sure they're aware of what they've done.
"Er," Light begins before I immediately cut him off. "And how long have you been dragging that? Did anyone see you?"
"Well, no but it's raining and..." Dropper started before I cut her off too.
"Good, I don't know what it is with you two? First, it was the horrible damn Goblins, followed by that guy Talon the deceiver or whatever, and now it's a Troll! There's no feasible way you killed this one easily and I'm not accepting another tragic story this time so where the hell are you two finding these things!?"
As much as I appreciate the boost that the monster will provide, I question these two great, but difficult to grasp Rogues about where they aim their standards before leaving for a mission. Does each time have to be better than the last? If so then what's next, a Giant?
Both attempt to speak but are each cut off for a second time, hanging their heads low due to the powerful presence and green mist my will is now giving off, flowing from the walls and throughout the whole dungeon. Rising from the very ground beneath them, I am making sure everyone hears me at the same time flooding the halls and rooms within me.

Supreme Dictator mode.
My will echoes out new ground rules into everyone, I may be making them up on the spot, but I am hoping they will be able to follow them to the best of their abilities.
Let's be honest, I didn't even know what I wanted my dungeon to be until now, or what I was going to do about it and I've been following my own half-assed strategy.
But.
Right now.
In this very moment, I have decided and I am establishing law.
My own law.
The laws of Dungeon Core Abi and all monsters created by me or housed by me better do their damndest to not break them. Any monster found breaking my law will be dismantled and it does not matter how cute they are, there will be no second chances.
Well, except maybe Colin.
Me, can I dismantle monsters?
Yes, the only reason I never mentioned it before was that more monsters are always better and I must say it's about time you started laying down some ground rules. I was beginning to think we would just drift forever.
It's only been two days, hasn't it?
It almost feels like an eternity, one that I cannot escape from.
Why are you being so melodramatic, Me? I'm trying to impose my will here.
Nevermind me then.
Hehe.
I love it when he says that but I have to focus, I'll have a good chat with Me in my next downtime as it is rather overdue.
Finishing off my law I establish that if people are willing to be friendly and accepting of us then we will show the same kindness, anyone who's a bit of a dick about it may just end up getting eaten. I allow Dum and Dee to tag out of the dungeon from Light and Dropper, then bring my attention to the notifications that have waited patiently for me to finish.
Monsters have reached Max Level:
Rogue: Light Level 20
Rogue: Dropper Level 20
First Time Absorption bonus:
290DP 290 XP
A new monster has been unlocked:
Dungeon Troll: 100DP
Dungeon Core Abi has reached Level 12:
DP has been increased by 40
New features have been unlocked:
Well: 10DP
The Pit: 40DP
All rooms can now have a stream customised to run through it for no extra DP cost
Shit!
Now I feel terrible, I can't even feel happy over my DP increase. My Rogues, which are still in front of me with their shoulders hung low, did such a good job and I've ended up venting my frustration at the system on them. I know it was dangerous the way they brought the Troll back and there was a lot of variables that could have gone wrong unnoticed, but they reached Max Level.
How good are they!
Before I start spending I need to dish out some praise to the now slightly blue shining Rogues.
Me?
They are ready to upgrade and because they have reached Max Level you can upgrade them for the cost of a regular Vagabond.
Shut the front door.
What?
Why haven't you told me that one before either? What else are you keeping from me, Me?
I do not keep anything from you. I am your helper, or assistant if you will. I will tell you anything within my knowledge to do so and if you recall I have mentioned that you can upgrade monsters with points before.
Yeah I know, I was just teasing you as well so don't get upset.
I was not getting upset.
Yeah, ok.
I wasn't, Abi.
Alright.
Abi!

Hehe.
I love you really, Me.
Back to the Rogues at hand.
"Dropper, Light," upon hearing their names both snap out of their stupor and to attention "I'm sorry for venting on you, well done."
That said, I hit confirm on the newest screen beside me and the soft light grows stronger around them until it is fully encompassing them as though they are brand new monsters. Light appears to increase in size, even though all that can be seen is a form made of literal light. Dropper appears to grow too, except outwards rather than upwards and when they have been released they still shine brightly, long after the light has faded. Neither one of my Rogues, or Vagabonds as I should say now, own a cowl anymore leaving both of their faces revealed and adding more beauty to my dungeon than I thought possible.
I am seriously going to have to rename Dropper, as I named her in a bit of a strop over the whole Goblin ordeal, poor girl. She is absolutely stunning, similar to Veris but still close to a generic Rogue, her face could melt hearts and gain her entrance into any bed whether single, double or even royalty. Bright blue eyes with soft pink lips, a little button nose and long blonde hair leaving open a gorgeous neckline. Her armour, which is now the same as Veris's and the rest of the Vagabonds, fits her perfectly, bosom increase included. The double dagger combo are sheathed behind her and a bow is now slung over her shoulder, I can't work out how these upgrades work but I'm too stunned to care.
Light, on the other hand, is the only male Vagabond I own.
His armour, which may as well not be armour at all, isn't much different to that of the female Vagabonds as he has a full black leather outfit going on too. Boots, pants, belt, shirt, gloves and even a long jacket with a large collar that just screams that he is concealing weapons. Why does he own it and where did it come from? I have no idea and I can only chalk it up to my creation doing its thing. Instead of the two dagger combo that all Vagabonds have, he now has a single long blade hung from his waist which is only visible due to his coat being open. He still has short wavy light blue hair and sports the same coloured goatee. His eyes are dark black and his tough-looking exterior is really arousing in an 'I don't have a body kinda way'.
Stupid, stupid, good looking Dungeon.
Then again, without it, there would be no Light or Dropper and no Barry ploughing his loads in me every minute of every day. There would be no talked about meals served by the scrumptious Ali in Talia's Tavern and no wonderful wolves running freely around on my third floor. There would certainly be no gorgeous lazy Alpha or beautiful but dozy Pink Slime and no Acolytes, Con-Men or any other attractive creatures in sight.
Worst of all there would be no adorable Mimic in my Core Room, drooling all over the place.
Sniff...
Before the beginnings of a wailing session flair up, I remind myself that I am surrounded by all these guys and that they are basically my family now. Even though it hasn't been that long the thought of them not being here is quite painful and only serves to make my appreciation for them grow.
"Thank you, Master Abi." Dropper says while giving herself a good checking out.
Oh, I didn't like that, I may be imposing my will but I don't want them to see me a slave owner or anything.
Veris called me Boss and I could only just deal with that.
"You're welcome, you both deserved it and now you should be able to evolve again, right?" I ask the new Vagabonds before realising that I should have just asked Me.
"Yes master, once we reach the required level," Light responds diligently, full of pride at his new upgraded class also checking out his new apparel, especially the coat. He's giving the inside of it a thorough going over and has a mischievous smile on his face but as long as he follows the rules I laid out then I'm happy that he's happy.
"Would you like me to change your name Dropper? I know I named you when I was a bit angry and I apologise for that, so if you want you can have a new one, what do you think?" I put forth the question to the newly advanced lady.
"I have grown somewhat fond of it but after seeing how all the others relish their names, I do not have such feelings towards mine as of yet but it may still be too soon to say. May I have some more time to choose?" She explains before asking if she can hold off on the decision for a while.
"Of course you can, you and Light have got 16 hours until you're due to go back out. Go have a drink at Talia's or get some food, you can check out the new rooms and just rest up if you want too, it's up to you. You have earned this time to yourselves. If you need me, just give me a shout, I'm sure either myself or Me will hear you." I inform her before leaving them to their own devices so that I can focus on spending my points.
Stats.

31 Tunnels
92 Monsters
1 Contract Monster
64 Traps
272/280 DP Available
Who's a big Lobe Hound?
I am!
Woof!
Gods, it gets better every time I see my status. I'm still behind my previous human level but I'm making leaps and bounds, not as much as Light and Dropper though who are at light speed with their insane kills.
Crap, I forgot to ask them about that Dungeon Troll. After their rest, I need to find out how they took it down and where it was. Did they enter another dungeon and how did they find it?
I can do that later though as they're not going anywhere for a while and with no one due back for another four hours I can have a good browse through my available purchases whilst Barry drops some more rocks.
I wonder how his new cave is going but that's just something else to check on my long to-do list and isn't the priority for the moment.
Me, can I place more than one building in a room?
Yes as long as the room is big enough to support both structures at once then there won't be a problem.
Awesome, in that case, I'll purchase the Well for Shack City as it's only 10DP and I'll upgrade it straight away as I have more mouths around than a tier-one water feature will provide for. I could customise the room with a lake feature but it doesn't feel right, it works fine for Trixie's forest room with its size and nature but it wouldn't be the same up here.
Well has become Deep Well:
This well now has twice the available water and will refill at the start of each new day
Reward:
2 XP
I spent 30DP earning 3 XP in total, one for placing it and two for the upgrade cost. It wasn't much but I'm hoping my monsters appreciate it.
Moving to my third floor I plan to add more to it so that I can keep progressing down, distancing my Core ever further from the surface and unlocking more perks on the way. Arriving in the centre of Trixie's giant forest, as that is where the stairs lead out too, I place four new tunnels in symmetrical directions on each wall in this room making the stairwell's tower the centre point of it all. On the end of three of the new tunnels, I add double-sized forest rooms that still only cost me 20DP thanks to the feature I earned earlier and a normal room on the eastern tunnel finishes my pattern.
That was 80 for rooms and 20 for Tunnels in total.
How many more tunnels and rooms are needed here Me?
One more tunnel and then a Boss is all you need.
I add a double-sized tunnel to the eastern room and have it heading south, I place a Firepit Trap halfway down and a large Dark Cluster just before it, hoping that if someone manages to get past all my monsters and reach this area then the single trap might catch them. I laugh at my stupidity and add another double-sized tunnel heading south again before placing a weak wooden Torch at the very end of the tunnel.
This may improve my trap if their eyes are focused elsewhere, you never know.
Keeping with the double trend, I add a new room next to the weak torch and confirm it to be the Boss room.
Oh no. Who should I choose for this important position? Who could I possibly trust that may already be lazing around on this very floor as we speak?
Hehe.
I decide on Trixie, obviously, as she was a Mini-Boss before. It's not like she has combat experience yet unless you count eating Peaches, but that's true for a few of my monsters at the moment so I confirm my decision regardless.
Nothing happens after Trixie has been designated as the floor boss, no notifications even though I was hoping for another free feature.
Nevermind.
With that done I place the entrance to the fourth-floor, whilst deciding that this one will just be tunnels and small rooms again to make up the count and hopefully, I will earn a few cheap monsters in the process. This marks the completion of three floors now and I'm feeling rather proud of my accomplishments so far. The first floor is still a work in progress but is good for the majority, whereas the second and third floor can be classed as finished.
The Fourth Floor has been created:
5 XP Awarded
A new monster has been unlocked:

48DP remaining and not a moment too soon as I feel the familiar rush that I generally receive when Light and Dropper return, only this time it's my two Vagabonds who are back early and they are definitely not empty-handed. Both are carrying humans in each hand making a total of four. Not villager type humans either, three Archers and a Mage.
I know these two are naturally better than the Rogues are because of difference in class but damn, they were both level 1 when they left, right?

Star God
An ancient, ageless entity of magic intertwines with the essence of a tribal hero and a god is born. In a land where the worship of any entity is banned and punishable by mass-execution, the young and idealistic deity must come to terms with the ugliness of humanity, and find a way for his flock to survive, and maybe even thrive. A young man born into a mountain tribe treads the path of a hero, but he must learn the extent to which he would go to keep his people and their fledgling god safe and happy. Enemies are everywhere, and to defend their way of life, they must learn to harness the power of magic. Others are ahead of them in this regard, so they must act fast if they are to survive. A Xianxia-esque magic system, but with a focus on Western-style spellcasting and mysticism. This is more or less a deconstruction of classical fantasy and pantheons. The story focuses on two main characters; a God and a hero who serves him. Kingdom building themes are prevalent. If you like it, please remember to rate and review.

The Legend of Ghost
This is a quick novella origin story to one of fan-favorite characters in the ZERO universe, Sam Dobbs, a.k.a. Slade Gardner, a.k.a. the Ghost. I wrote it for current ZERO series fans, after many insistent, fervent, teary-eyed demands. Still, I think it pretty much works as a stand-alone, so I'll post it here. (He gets the name Ghost later, not as part of this story...this is just the why he decided to do what he did, being slightly insane and all.) Lots of easter eggs for current fans. 15k words total, chapters will be approx. 2.5k each. Oh, and if you get turned off by crazy, hyperintelligent antisocials being crazy, hyperintelligent antisocials, this isn't the story for you. ;)

Soul Core Online
Soul Core Online was a game that few people were interested in until after it was released, due to its odd way of handling character growth but this soon changed as people started to realise just how different this game was. Unlike many of its predecessors the NPCs in Soul Core Online acted in a way that was indistinguishable from real people and the world felt alive because of this instead of the empty and sterile cities we had come to expect, even walking down the street could give you insights to how these people lived. In my case this was the world that I had always wanted to visit and I soon found myself embroiled in the constantly changing world that is Soul Core Online. This story is currently only available here on Royal Road or on my Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/bkwrm196/posts?filters%5Btag%5D=Soul%20Core%20Online
