The next two cartridges in the magazine were tracers. Time was running out. His location had been detected, and his active skills were on cooldown. The first flank of the henchmen were already approaching the rock and were at a distance of five hundred yards. Ronnie saw it and panicked. During the next shot, the left hand jerked from the tension and the yellow tracer flew a meter over the boss's head. The sniper cursed, pulled himself together, and exhaled. The fourth shot. The fiery trail of the bullet made its way through the darkness, flew into the bullseye. The three-meter monster roared, so loudly that the echo of his scream scattered around. Ronnie saw the tracer trail two meters away from the target, abruptly changing its trajectory and hitting the ground, and bounced into the sky.
The young sniper smiled. He realized what was disrupting his plans: there is an imperceptible magical aura of the "wind" element around the boss. As soon as its owner is in danger, it is automatically activated and vice versa. This could not be foreseen in advance. While Ronnie was thinking about what to do next, the henchmen did not waste time and came closer and closer. They overcame a steep slope and crawled on all fours towards the burning baobab. There will not be enough bullets for everyone and it will be almost impossible to escape. The broken leg throbbed with pain, which passed through all the nerve endings and with such force that it was difficult to move. Ronnie, with his left hand, pulled a small syringe out of his right pocket, stuck the needle into his thigh, pressed the plunger.
The system has been temporarily restored.
He looked through the scope and saw how the boss traversed three hundred yards with a huge leap, and when his clumsy body plopped down on the ground, both his henchmen and Ronnie flew up a couple of centimeters from the shock wave. After the second jump, the creature landed at the foot of the mountain, causing a strong rockfall with the shock wave from the landing. On the third jump, the boss was about four hundred yards away, passing a steep slope. He suddenly screamed and spheres began to rise from under his feet. Ronnie was blinded, he shot at the boss with his eyes closed, but the wind repelled the precise attack. Several rays released from the creature's hands and mouth burned the area, leaving burning trenches a meter and a half wide and deep, in addition, they also cut down the thick trunk of a baobab, which began to fall towards Ronnie's head. A loud crashing sound. At the last moment, he managed to jump back and when the tree collapsed, he put the bipods on the rust-colored bark and flew up again from the fourth jump. The time for reflection was over, the boss swung the scythe, standing two meters away, and Ronnie fired the last shot. The magical blade cut the Barrett in half; his owner flew off a meter with a shallow cut along the entire torso. The spheres immediately crumbled. Darkness fell.

Ronnie was lying there, not moving, all the systems were in critical condition. He felt small, not yet cooled stones under his back and a strong burning pain and the heat of the flame. His eyes stared at the clear black sky and the stars sparkling in it, which were layered with gray smoke. He waited for them to finish him off, but nothing happened. When the ringing in his ears passed, it became clear that the rockfall had killed most of the henchmen on the slope and at the foot of the mountain. Those who did not approach yet were lucky enough to survive. Nevertheless, no one ran away. Ronnie got up, overcoming the pain, and saw how the lackeys turned to face each other and began to fight among themselves. The first person he turned his gaze to was killing his fellow monsters with unquenchable malice, with an uncontrollable thirst for murder. The second jumped on the lifeless body of his copy and began to devour the insides until the tip of a magic arrow pierced his back. After twenty minutes of bloody stabbing, there was only one survivor. He decided not to run away and looked at the rock and saw a sniper and began to climb up to him, jumping over the mutilated bodies of the dead. Ronnie, unarmed and weak, began to look around. The flames have already fully captured the baobab. He ran up to the tree, he started to push the fallen trunk of the baobab to the edge and finally it fell off the slope. The crazed henchman, instead of running away, transformed his scythes on his hands into a magic bow and fired several shots at Ronnie, but he managed to hide behind the huge carcass of the wild boss. The baobab, like a tank caterpillar track, ran over the last enemy, leaving crimson fragments of entrails and a puddle of blood. When the sniper decided to check what happened to the henchman, the arrows fired exploded. He flew off and landed on the hard ground with his back and exhaled sharply. The shock wave launched a new rockfall, and the fat carcass of the boss rolled head over heels down the slope and landed on a pile of boulders with a dull crunch of bones.

Ronnie cursed and put his hands on the ground, pushing himself up a little, but he instantly fell back down due to the blood loss and all wounds. "Fuck!" he shouted and made a second attempt and overcame himself and got down on one knee. The body somehow responded to the orders of the brain. Everything was burning red in the interface. He wanted to stop and take a break and find his backpack with the tent, but the experience of killing the boss had not yet come. The sniper approached the cliff and saw the mangled carcass of the enemy. His round mouth made the sounds of a whining dog, and his hands trembled against his chest as if he was refusing something in sign language. Ronnie pulled a grenade out of his belt bag, held the safety lever with his thumb, pulled out the pin, and threw it down. There was an explosion.
"Sorry, nothing personal," he said, "I just need experience."

His body was paralyzed once more, his legs gave way, and he fell facedown. Blood was oozing out of his chest through the cut. He turned his head and saw his backpack on his left, about three meters away. Dusty and battered. Apparently thrown off after the explosion caused by the suicide bomber. In the side pocket was a rare resuscitation syringe. Ronnie crawled towards it and cursed himself three times for leaving it there. The countdown for automatic disconnection from the system has started in the interface.
Don't you fucking dare.
10…9…8…
He could not crawl fast enough, but he did not want to give up either, not in his habit. As soon as his hand touched the zipper, there were three seconds left, he pulled out the syringe, two seconds. At the last second, the system was temporarily restored, and urgent meditation was required. Ronnie pulled out a self-folding tent from the central compartment, put up the protective field, and disconnected for three hours with the deep meditation function enabled, during which it is impossible to enter the game.

Hope
There were 2 options: Fight the same war for countless more aeons. Shatter the Betrayer's undead legions time and time again until all was ground to dust. Because the endless legions truly never end. A hair's breath of ground in a century is enough if the war takes all of eternity. Or to choose Hope. To cast away his memories, his power, his very life. To wager everything on a chance to prevent their eventual end or to perish trying. Because if he were to return it would be with the power necessary to finally slay what remains of the Betrayer. Of the last Aspect. Only then would all things be right. And so, he chose the latter. Expect:Weak to strong quick-ish.Powerful MC reincarnates, gradually starts regaining memories.MC that is an actual character not a plot device. My original unique magic system discovered along with the MC.My original setting with mythos that have both been living rent free in my head for actual years.Opening arc will be less fast than the following story. Good writing (I think) and grammar. Upload schedulle: 2 chapters a week of 3-4k words each. I want to upscale to 3 in the future. Meant to be read in RR dark mode. For those coming here from my other stories, this is indeed a reimagining of my older story, CotM. I say reimagining because I have changed so much it cannot be called just a rewrite. Among the major changes, MC is fundamentally different in personality and background, I have actually planned the story out and changed it almost completely and I have adjusted my mythos so it no longer has as many holes as swiss cheese.
