《The Floating Dungeon》Chapter 18

You have officially created your dungeon. You are able to choose one creature or plant to be evolved into three monster varieties.
This … this left Amy with a conundrum. She had a limited number of creatures and plants, and she now must choose one of them to undergo evolution to become classified as a monster. This alone is not too difficult for her to wrap her mind around. What was difficult is choosing the suitable organism to become the predecessor of her first three monsters.
At first, Amy considered choosing one of her plants, then realized the impracticalities of it. Plants are stationary in nature, and if plant monsters mimic the ones that she had read about back on Earth, they are pretty slow. Not even considering that most of her plants are aquatic in nature. So, she completely discarded that idea and turned her attention towards the animals.
After going through all of the animals that she, both in the sub-dimension and within her territory, Amy settled on five potential creatures. The finalists are the rok octopus, crystal stingray, boar shark, ice barracuda, and the yellow-striped penguin.
The boar shark was off the list automatically because Amy hasn't even had one that was out of its egg sack yet. While it produces a strong venom, the crystal stingray is more of an ambush predator, and she didn't think it would be a good choice for her first three monster variations. By those thoughts, Amy also discarded the idea of using a rok octopus.
That left the last two finalists: the ice barracuda and the yellow-striped penguin. Both offer unique choices. The barracuda is fast and deadly without any monster evolutions. But it has one weakness, it is a purely aquatic creature. Now, that would be fine if her sub-dimension was just filled with water. But it isn't. There is a small island and many small icebergs, and who knows how much it will grow in the future.
And that just left the penguins. The penguins she could work with, and in retrospect, there could be a lot more interesting monster evolutions for them than the ice barracuda. As there were only one of the yellow-striped penguins in her territory right now, the rest were all hunting. So Amy told the penguin within her territory to stop hunting and collecting and come to the tunnel. Surprisingly, the penguin followed her directions without her having to lace the order into her mana. Once the penguin appeared in the sub-dimension, Amy selected it as the creature she wanted to be the base for the three monster variations.

You have chosen the Yellow-Striped Penguin to be evolved into three monster variations.
When the words popped up, the penguin started shaking, almost as if it was having a seizure. Then, after a minute of its uncontrollable shaking, it did something that Amy did not expect it to. From the penguin, three identical versions of the penguin formed from the penguin. Almost as if the penguin was cloned three times.
After the clones of the original penguin appeared, they all started undergoing different changes. Changes that Amy paid a lot of attention to in the hopes of replicating such evolutions for different creatures.
The first penguin started to shrink till it was half the size of the yellow-striped penguin. Then, its feathers began to turn an opaque black, while its beak and claws became more jagged. Amy also noticed that the penguin's eyes changed to have a lot sharper eyesight.
The second penguin, unlike the first, grew two times larger than the original penguin. In addition, it became more heavily muscled, kind of like a wild boar or bull. Around the head grew a plate of bone and muscle, protecting the previously weak skull of the bird.
The third penguin stayed the same size, but its wings became more extensive, stronger, becoming much like the wings of an eagle or hawk. Amy also noticed that the joint where the bird's wing attaches to the rest of its body let it have more movement. The wing could probably have movement of 180 degrees. But that was not the most exciting portion of the bird's wing. The bird seemed to grow projectile like feather holders. The feathers themselves appeared to have a metal ingrained within them that made them incredibly sharp, like a knife.
While each of the penguins evolved into monsters, Amy noticed that each of the birds started to grow a ball of mana within its heart. As the penguin monsters finished evolving, the sphere of mana grew to be about five centimetres large. When the evolutions completely finished, the mana sphere hardened into a physical state but still circulated mana.
Amy figured that this was one of the main differences between a creature/plant and a monster. So, suppose she figured how to create that physical state of mana. In that case, she could probably shift a creature into becoming a monster.

With her observations on the evolution of a creature becoming a monster finished, Amy decided to pull up the descriptions to the three new inhabitants of her dungeon.
Penumbra Penguin
An evolved monster from the yellow-striped penguin, this penguin hunts in the shadows and stalks its prey before attacking when least expected.
Augment Penguin
An evolved type of monster from the yellow-striped penguin can temporarily increase its muscles to attack or defend itself.
Archer Penguin
An evolved type of monster from the yellow-striped penguin, it has fast-growing, deadly sharp, arrow-like feathers that it uses to fling at its enemies.
But with the monsters, unlike with the creatures or plants, Amy did not need to have two of both genders to create more like she has been doing so far. Well, she could have them reproduce naturally, but she could also feel that she could summon them with mana.
Just as Amy was about to summon the penguin monsters, she went stiff.
Something, something very large, crossed into her territory. This was more important than the other times when creatures or floating plants have passed into her territory. Amy instinctively knew that sentient beings have crossed into her territory.
Amy quickly summoned two of each of the penguin monsters, which made her mana take a dip which has not happened before. But she had no time to contemplate this before leaving the sub-dimension to look at whatever passed into her territory. As she quickly rushed through the dimension and through the iceberg, she spotted the sentients travelling on a ship.
Amy watched as the ship anchor and attach to the iceberg. Soon a group of four humans climbed off the ship and onto the iceberg.
The guy seemed to be very excited, and the leader seemed to be following a bell-like thing towards the tunnel that led to the portal.
'This is it,' thought Amy. 'Someone is going to finally discover me.'
She watched as the group of four have what seem to be a disagreement and split up. The guy who was most excited quickly rushed through her tunnel. At the same time, the rest of the group seemed to follow a lot more carefully than the previous guy into the tunnel.
Soon, the excited man with a backpack reached the portal and quickly rushed through it without any concern. Just as the excited guy went through the portal, the rest of the group reached the portal room and saw the excited guy start to go through the portal. The largest man of the group yelled, "Stop!!!!!!" rushed after the excited guy.
When the excited guy exited the portal, he fell and sunk into the water like a rock dropped into water.
Amy was very on guard at this point. She didn't know what to expect. But it was all for not. As she watched the guy that fell into the water try to swim to the surface, she realized that he couldn't swim. It seemed that the guy didn't know what he was doing and kept inhaling water in an attempt to breathe air. But that just greatly lowered his even slim chance of survival. Soon the man passed out, but before he could die, one of the other group members dove into the water to collect him and pulled him out of the dimension. After that, Amy ignored them after they excited the dimension as she had some things to think about.
'Well, that could have gone better,' thought Amy. Her first visitor to her dungeon, and he drowns as soon as he steps into it. But, at least this visit did give some good things for her. During the struggle, the man had dropped his backpack and some things within his pockets.
Amy wasn't even all that concerned with the rest of the group leaving the dimension without even exploring and the dangers within it. Well, at least she might get more explorers or adventurers when news spreads about her.
Now, to figure out what was just given to her.
