《Solo Stream》Chapter 52

At that speed, the purple beacon left the horizon in minutes. It moved faster that the swirling sky in the background. Now loomed over Enoch and his companion, illuminating the clouds high above.
Enoch let his omnileg pump at an angle. The right one switched to shorter steps. His trail of dirt arced in a beautiful wave. Choo rode it, mad iron surfer, glowing neon purple.
Beacon straight ahead. A Dash and a Sprint. Warp speed into... a nest of traps. If that was her tactic, she was done for. The threats glowed in his vision. Double detected by his Artifact Helm and his High Perception. His body wiggled between the triggers, tumbled over the pits. Hands first in the tighter section. They gripped the tiniest of holds, used them to propel him forward.
He laughed from glee as one trap led to another and to – wait – that section felt wrong. One step here, no other choice, led to a ledge there, all other options deadly. She was funnelling him.
Genius work, that assemblage of traps. He thought he was crushing it, yet individual treats worked together as a puzzle. Led them to his inevitable death. That is, if he hadn’t been decked out in OP loot.
His Blink Sword teleported him forward. Skipped the deadly part. Brought him over a pit covered in glowing spider webs. Neon teal, they pulsed as a beating heart.
Blink sword on cool down, Enoch went to a Double Jump. The pit way too vast. Choo? The scout twisted in mid air. Grabbed the golem core.
“What? Don’t grab me suddenly Master.”
Enoch grunted, no time for a real answer. The Artifact’s carrying strength let him glide a few feet. Not enough. Not by a long shot.
As always in these moments, the chat, absurdly, caught his attention.

“He’s done for.”
“The commentator was right. Worthless.”
“Where did these trolls came from? The guy is in second place with a decent shot at a win.” Tip | 15$
“No matter what happen, I’ll be proud of him.” Tag | Mom
The text faded. His body touched the long psychedelic filaments. They stuck to him. Too flimsy to cushion his fall, the angular rocks hidden under them caught him at a weird angle. The fall damage negligible thanks to his skills, even with his back bend backward.
“Ouch, that got to hurt” Tip | 22$
“He should have built up his Regen.”
“That barely hurt him. What’s wrong with you? I bet the fairy would have gotten you on day 1.”
His arm twitched. Up an inch. Back two inches. Stuck. The sticky filaments covered him head to toes. He pumped his omnilegs. Their mechanisms groaned. Pink steam shot out. His Mana went down. Prosthetics hungry for more. The webs stretched, stretched, and the hold snapped. His free legs found solid ground. The destroyed filament fell back on it. Merged with the rest of the pit’s blanket. Stuck again.
Enoch repeated the process four time. Freed legs immediately caught back by the devious nature of the trap. He went for a fifth time. Stopped, at attention. A noise in the distance. Faint steps coming in fast.
He managed to peak at the sky and saw it. Practically on top of him. The purple beacon.
His legs pumped faster. Same futile cycle. He tried to roll. His bent back stayed immobile, welded to the rock. His head turned, looking for his friend.
“Choo, catch her with the wands before she reaches me.”
“Wands online Master.”
The golem core illuminated. Added a gradient to the translucid filaments, purple to teal. Rocks and prey casted long shadows on the pit’s slope. Choo turned on himself, outer ring spinning, inner core spinning faster, raining sparkles. A wand migrated from the bundle stuck to him, then another, and another. Up until he looked like a raced-up morningstar.

Enoch caught her at the corner of his eye. The Bird Spider. She ran at him, ignoring the sticky trap. Headfirst, arms trailing behind, dagger in both hands.
A beam of pure sun fire pierced her chest, linked to the golem core up above for a fleeting instant. The scenery overpowered to pure white. The fibers carpet caught fire at the point of impact and the Bird Spider, an illusion, disappeared in a puff of teal pixels.
Choo rotated. Dropped the used wand. Pointed another, looking for a target. Found too many. Dozen of illusions closed in on Enoch from all direction. The next Siege Wand evoked a lightning bolt. It fell from the sky with huge splash damage. Four illusions vanished.
The rest raced down the canyon. Choo discarded the spent Wand of Lightning Pillar. Pointed the Wand of Catastrophic Flare.
Heat rose. The spider strands burned. The spider clones too. The chat scrolled, mad with hope.
“Come on, you can do it. Get up.” Tip | 22$
“Go for it. This game is yours for the taking.”
“Go Scout, Go Scout, Go Scout, Go!”
Enoch read the lines, thankful for the support. He wiggled. Had a better range of motion now, but the stuff under him still pinned him to the rock, unburnt. That was the strength of this built. He knew it from the pre-game’s research. Not a spell but a crafted trap. No duration. No mercy.
6 seconds left on his Blink Sword's timer. The last Spider illusion, or most likely the real deal, jumped toward him. Leg flaying under her.
Further up, Choo dropped the used wand, pointed a new one. A large jet of acid came out of it. Rushed toward the Spider and passed through it, splashing droplets on Enoch. The disjointed image, revealed, disappeared. The Bird Spider appeared four paces behind. Damn she was good.
Her dagger swung down with blurring speed. This, at least, he could keep up with. His blade deflected the next blow, and the one after. At the edge of his ability. No time for a counterattack. All his attention, all his speed just to survive.
Epic music blasted from up above. The Tower Golem fell inches beside Enoch’s face. It blasted the Bird Spider, point-blank. She dodged. Split into four images. Only four, she was running out of Mana.
Choo’s next blast vaporized an illusion. The remaining ones stabbed Enoch. [-2 Health]. He blocked two attacks. One with his sword. The other with his hand, gripping the fake dagger’s blade, ignoring the negligeable damage.
[-154 Health] [Heavy Bleeding | -12 Health/second]. Oh. A real dagger straight to his heart. Lucky shot.

Meek
After failing as an apprentice cooper and a town guard, Eli finds his place at the Rockbridge archives. Sure, he's the oldest 'junior scribe,' but he likes the job. And he's good at it, too. Then he completes an apparently-insignificant project, and the brutal reaction shocks him--with consequences that eventually shake the world. Eli gains powers. Rare and inhuman abilities. He progresses slowly, steadily, and not without setbacks. He changes, too. Is he a hero, a villain, a human, a monster? Depends who you ask. Meek is an epic fantasy with elements of progression. The basic magic is simple: five Paths, each with a different powerset. However, complexity arises from combinations, and the protagonist wields a magic all his own. Meek is set in the Valley, the only (as far as anyone knows) human empire that survived a Final Battle against a terrible foe. The Valley is warded against infiltration, but the enemy learned how to warp human souls, to foment discord within. However, another soul is also ... changed. Perhaps even 'warped.' And that soul is starting on a long (long, long) path that might, one day, prove that the Final Battle wasn't so final after all.

Black Ice
If there is no start, then there is no end. Darkness is all one can see, as the emptiness gradually dominates everything. However a light seems to be shining through this vast darkness, A light that isn't bright but rather dark as if it is the same as the darkness around. After a long time this light seems to separate into small pieces of crystals. As they slowly separated a really bright light engulfs everything as it slowly formed matter, then atoms, then molecules. They slowly combined forming stars, planets, meteors and solar systems. All the pieces of the crystals combined together again creating a single being as it smiled at its creation. The being separated itself into 9, as all 9 populated the most suitable planet for life. The 9 of them split once more creating 81 different species that populated the planet. The 81 species were called Gods, The 9 Creators were called Primordial gods and the Begging of it all was called The Creator or also known as The One. The 81 species had offspring that were mortal in comparison with their bodies that were immortal. The offspring were given the ability to reach a higher plain through cultivation, with strict requirements. The Creator Split the crystals once again as he sent them to the planet. However a really small piece managed to get out of its designated trajectory, its whereabouts unknown even to the Creator himself. A few million years later, a planet with life formed in a far away system. Humans were living there as they slowly discovered more and more about the universe. A Person walked inside a cave as he was looking around and found a black crystal. Amazed by the crystal he tried grabbing it, however this ended in his death. Several months later in the Planet inhabited by the 81 species a human child was born.

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
