《Adventures With a Reincarnated Bush》5 Hiding
Advertisement
As John nourishes his tiny core, he sends his senses outside his body. He can now view a small area around him. The bush is no longer in an empty world with only himself. He begins to inspect the world around him. The ground looks slightly scorched, but as he already knew, life had started to sprout once again. There are even a few small animals that dare to come near and nibble on the growing plants.
'Am I on a hill?' John wonders. The ground slightly curves down around him. He can only expand his senses out a small distance allowing him to understand the direct area around him. It is unlike human vision in which one can see vast distances as long as there is nothing to block the view. Plant cultivators are unable to see dangers coming from a distance. Thus they are often plucked without being able to defend themselves.
'What can I do to save myself? There doesn't seem to be anything around. I'm practically begging to be eaten!' John worries. 'Even a passing bird can swoop down and gobble me up,' he imagines. Usually, plant cultivators come from horrible places where people can't reach managing to cultivate in secret. It is quite conspicuous with him sticking out like a sore thumb from the plants around him.
John had heard that spiritual plants would inspire growth in the plants around them. Perhaps he can do something similar? With some work, he begins to transfer energy through his roots to the other plants. Within a week, he can sense a large increase in the foliage around him. No longer out in the open, he feels very safe.
That is until all the animals start eating the powered up vegetation. 'I've only increased the danger,' John laments. His tactic has completely backfired. Fearing for his life, he tries to look as normal as possible by suppressing his energy. This way, the animals will ignore him, eating the more nutritious food around him instead.

This plan works at first until a large demonic bull arrives due to the commotion. Seeing the premium grass and weeds around, John makes the bull ecstatic. A demonic bull of this level is barely smarter than an average animal. Yet, it can still notice the uniqueness of this location.
The demonic bull slams into a nearby demonic deer maiming and killing it violently. The other feasting animals are in shock due to the sudden violence. Noticing that the atmosphere has taken a turn for the worst, they begin to scatter. With them gone, the demonic bull happily chomps down on the nearby plants. This ravenous beast quickly eats every leaf and blade of grass around John.
Soon the demonic bull is eyeing John carefully, considering whether he should eat this weird plant or not. Sensing the danger, John nearly has a heart attack. He can't even manage to scare off a rabbit, let alone this demonic bull! 'I've doomed my self once again,' he cries while sighing in remorse. 'I can only stimulate the plants around me. Hopefully, he will eat his fill and move on,' John schemes.
So again, John sends energy into the ground. It is a colossal waste, but he is a captive. Every day he hopes that the Demonic Bull will get bored and leave. However, much to his frustration, the bull has decided to make this area his territory. All the other creatures flee in fear from this small hill. In the end, John can only accept his new captor as the lord of the area. As long as he can pay the tribute, he will survive. This predicament brought back memories of John's day in his sect. All his hard work disappeared with not even a thank you.
'I guess I should give this big guy a name. Since we'll be living together for quite some time, it seems,' John decides halfheartedly. After thinking, he settles on a simple name. 'From now on, you are Joe the Bull! If you're not happy with it, tough luck,' John exclaims. Happy with his victory that isn't a victory, he celebrates by gently shaking his branch. Of course, the bull knows nothing of his new name and doesn't pay the bush any heed.

The Curio Shoppe
Kellan Klein is an ordinary college student with an average, if traumatic and painful past. Everyone grows up grappling with depression and anxiety that seem to be genetic in a house with parents that, while loving, fight all the time and have weird ideas about what kids should and shouldn't do, right? Everyone deals with bullying, racism, judgement on their romantic inclinations and their family's economic status and just general shittiness, right? All of Kellan's friends sure did, and for all of them, entertaiment media were a welcome escape from their painful, dreary lives. After all, who wouldn't want to sail the seas with Monkey D. Luffy and the Strawhats, or help Meng Hao con increasingly powerful and influential people, or join Cecil Harvey and his friends on their weird journey to save the world, or make friends with Peter Parker while pretending to not know he was everyone's favorite wall-crawling superhero? Kellan certainly wanted to, and while he pursued college to seek out a career he saw himself enjoying, something felt inexplicably empty about his life. So when a decidely sinister force kidnaps him and the prettiest man he's ever seen saves his life and offers him his wildest dreams, Kellan becomes the shopkeeper of a mysterious, dimension hopping shop, complete with a system that helps him acquire items. abilities, materials, and other cool shit to stock it with, as well as some other neat perks. Will Kellan become a boring overpowered MC, like the kind from web fiction that he reads to sate his boredom? Will he keep his generally kind, sweet nature despite the shit he's gone through and will go through, or will he inexplicably become a scary, violent, irrational arrogant douchebag? Will he use his newfound abilities to explore the multiverse and improve the lives of himself and others, or will he become his own antithesis, a purely mercantile jerk obsessed with money and profit, with no concern for anything that doesn't help or hurt his business? Find out in The Curio Shoppe! Author's note: Please suggest possible setting he could visit in the comments. I'll gather ones i'm familiar with, and at the end of every arc, a poll will be held to decide the next location he visits. There will be polls for other purposes, and I might not always go with the poll winner if I feel one of the other options is more fun to read/write about. I will not use the settings of other RRL writers without their permission.Do not ask for that, unless the author in question gives permission. Most settings he visits will be slightly AU in some way or another, but please remind me if I drift too far from canon unintentionally or characterize a character wrongly. This work will eventually fit all tags I selected once he visits universes suited to those tags, so don't ask when or where a given tag is coming. I do not own the cover art, it belongs to Nicholas Belanger Thiel, and I will stop using it if he asks me to. Kellan doesn't look like the old man on the cover, though once he acquires a disguise-type ability he may occasionally use that appearance. The tapir, however, will be a thing, as despite looking like a failed attempt at an elephant, tapirs are cool and this dragon finds them to be kinda cute. The art, along with more of Nicholas's pieces, can be found at https://www.artstation.com/artwork/51bXz

Realm || A Game Of Thrones Fanfiction
'I think deep down inside, everyone likes to see themselves sitting on the Iron Throne. Some just refuse to listen to their desire for power. Others give in to it. And others let other people do the hard work for them. But no matter who you are or have become, no matter what your heart desires or how much power you would like to gain; we will all burn if we don't stand strong together.' || This is a Game of Thrones fanfiction. The story takes place somewhere at the start of season 7. This fanfiction does not follow the entire plot of the new season. Some characters are not where they should be according to the actual story. I do not own Game of Thrones, nor the characters. I do own Anthea Lannister and some other characters.||
