After an hour or so, the three imperial knights that went looking for the assassin came back. They had a weird look on their faces as they went inside the tent where Shad was staying after receiving his permission.

" Did you find him?" he asked with a disappointed look on his face as though he already knew the answer.

Seeing the dejected look of the 4th prince's face, the four imperial knights felt ashamed. They were tasked to protect the 4th prince and nothing more. they weren't even allowed to participate in the fight or anything the 4th prince intended to do while staying in the Mulan kingdom, they were just there to act as his bodyguard, yet the 4th prince almost lost his life on their watch.

Each of them was a 6th rank warrior and could even be considered an expert within the Egul continent. They prided themselves of being an imperial knight who sole purpose was to protect the imperial family as well the Empire when facing destruction, they weren't allowed to participate in any regular war, they only stay within the capital to horn their skills and protect the capital. They considered themselves as the best and the last line of defense of the imperial capital, yet they failed such a simple mission.

"No, 4th prince your highness. That person seemed to have some stealth skill as well as a wind elemental battle qi, his speed was extremely fast and from the look it, that person might even be a high-level warrior. we split up and look everywhere, but there was still no sign of that person." one of them answered as they all bowed in front of Shad.

Shad did not say anything after listening to the imperial knights' report. He knew from the get-go that they would not be able to catch that person, but he still tried anyway. Not only that, even if they found him, they might that able to capture him, unless the four of them worked together. That person was no weakling, he was a 7th rank warrior, and the difference between a 6th rank warrior and a 7th rank warrior was like heaven and earth. However, if they ganged up on him, that would be a different story as the imperial knights weren't weak either and their battle qi had already transformed to elemental battle qi which increased their battle prowess.

" You all can leave now." He said as he was prepared to go back to his bed and forget about everything, there was nothing he could do anyway.

However, all of them stayed here without moving an inch, their expression told Shad that they wanted to ask something but was afraid.

" If you have something to say, just say it"

" 4th prince your highness, from what we heard from the soldiers, the assassin had clearly pierced your stomach, yet you are just fine without any injuries at all" one of them asked.

" Did you want me to get injured?" answered Shad with another question. Seeing the look on Shad's face, they did not dare to say anything. they knew how lawless this 4th prince was.

Aside from that, shad really did not want to reveal the power of Monalisa, the fewer people knew about it, the more secure he will be. Monalisa was like one of his trump cards.

" Of course not your highness, if you were injured, I am afraid the emperor would have our heads including those of our families," they answered before they hurriedly left the tent, but before they did, they couldn't help but look at that ravishing young lady that was laying down on the 4th prince's bed.

While shad was wary of that person that tried to assassinate him and was thinking about ways to defend himself next time he attacks again, That person was even warier of Shad.

He was an exalt 7th rank warrior yet he almost lost his life in the hands of a puny 4th rank mage. when he pierced the knife into Shad's heart, he felt as though his hand was being swallowed by a huge beast. He had the feeling that if he had continued his attacks, his whole body would have been swallowed by that void of darkness.

As soon as his first attack failed, he did not dare to stay there any longer. he was even more afraid than shad was of him because he had no idea how to counter that skill. he was a warrior, not a mage, so he couldn't just cast magic spells from the distance to check out his ability, he had to be up close.

He did not know what kind of ability that was as it was the first time he encountered such a weird ability, but it was truly frightening. Being able to absorb any physical attack with your body without any damaged by creating a dark void, what kind of damn cheat was that?. As far as he knows, the 4th prince was just a lightning mage so how come he possed such ability. It seemed like all the information about the 4th prince was not accurate, and was more mysterious than he thought. His mission is going to be tougher than he had expected.

Early in the next morning, before the sun was even up. Shad got off from his bed and went outside on his training clothes. As for Monalisa, she was soundly sleeping on the bed.

When Shad got out, he saw many soldiers were already up and were training. Most of them were 2nd and 1st rank warrior, there were still a handful of 3rd rank warriors but their numbers did not surpass fifteen.

As he was making his way to small mountain ahead, they all bowed to him. Even the four imperial knights were up and were training their swordsmanship skills, however before he left, he ordered them not to disturb his training and wait until he came back.

They wanted to reject him and followed him to act as his bodyguard while he was training, but knowing the attitude of the 4th prince as well as well as how he was able to survive the attack of a 7th rank warrior without a scratch, they did not dare to refuse his request as they quickly nodded in unison.

On top of a small mountain, Shad sat crossed legs with both of his eyes closed. there were many strands of lightning moving all around his body. soon, all the strands of lightning moved and coiled around his hands and wrapped around his fingers until they formed some sort of gauntlet on both of his hands.

With just a thought, the strands of lightning that formed a gauntlet around Shad's hand moved up as they formed a lightning armor around Shad's upper body. He did the same thing over and over, sometimes the strands of lightning turned into a huge lightning spear, a long lightning sword, a lightning ball, a lightning chain. After two hours of training his lightning transformations, Shad decided to get down as the sun was already up and it was time to resume his journey.
