《Hybrid Summoner》Chapter 1- The System

The flight had one quick layover in Tokyo then it was non-stop to Los Angeles California. He slept about ninety percent of it and just woke up for meals and the landing, or rather what he first thought was a landing. When he actually listened to the words of the pilot he was instantly awake, “-hit massive turbulence. We have descended to try and rectify the problem so please do not be alarmed. Please just buckle yourselves in and we will be arriving shortly.” Through all the jargon there was a trace of panic in his voice, and that was what had shocked him awake. Suddenly remembering a few snippets about how most plane crashes started he quietly crouched in his seat and braced his knees against the seat in front of him.
There was a girl about seventeen next to him who caught on and whispered to what looked like a sister or relative of some sort before copying him. He kept a look out through the window and the dread built in the pit of his stomach. He could now see the landing strip in the distance rapidly drawing closer. He looked at the girl and said “If something does happen tense all your muscles as best you can until everything stops.” With a face white as parchment she nods and tells the other girl the same. As they touch down on the landing strip all hell breaks loose.
Suddenly all power shuts off, even the floor and emergency lights. For a split second it’s silent then they go nose first into the pavement. The screaming starts but he focuses all his effort into staying curled in a ball. With an enormous screech of metall the right wing tears off and they start to roll, then the left wing goes but they keep going. Time after time they roll and crash with only the sound of screeching metal and human screams to tell whats what. A burst of stars and felt no more.
Soon he fought back to consciousness and realized they had stopped moving. Unbuckling himself he turns and sees the girl is also out cold. Quickly feeling a pulse he sighs in relief. Gotta check if there are others. With a tentative step over the women he looked around. Quickly finding a stewardess who’s also knocked out in a fold out seat. “Hey, come on miss, you gotta wake up now.” with a groan she wakes up under his relentless shaking. “Argh, what happened?” “Somehow we crashed and the planes in shambles you need to find the other stewardesses and get people out of the plane, for all we know it could be ready to blow up at any second.” Talking calm but fast he quickly told her what to do and he would start carrying those who were unconscious or injured outside.
He started with the two girls and activated the emergency exit. In short order he had almost a hundred and fifty injured and/or unconscious people a few hundred feet from plane. Quickly grabbing his bag and a bunch of random luggage took them outside and tore them into strips for bandaging. It was the start of a very long day. At roughly noon judging by the sun they got another huge shock. Covering his vision was a blue screen like what he could only relate to as something from a video game.

System Welcome
Greetings humans as you may be wondering the recent events that have transpired have indeed most likely caused world wide destruction and while that is regrettable it is only the beginning. Starting from today you will now be entered in the Intergalactic race wars where you will fight for survival against the other sentient races of the cosmos. There is no purpose other than survival of the fittest and as a race that has reached the end of their protection period you have now been automatically entered in the games. Because your original god has already died you will receive a lesser divine boon from whichever prime deity happens to be interested in you personally. The only rule is that complete destruction of a planet is prohibited and those that break this rule will be locked out of the system permanently and have a bounty placed upon them by the system. Magic has now been introduced to you by the system and as compensation all current technology was destroyed. Consider this an entirely new world if you wish to survive. Know this as the final courtesy to your race, the only true law in the universe is that might decides right.
As soon as he finished reading it disappeared and in place a new one appeared.
You are eligible for a class, please choose between the following
Templar Knight Crusader Elemental Mage Cleric Monk Blood Mage Swarm Summoner Grand Summoner
Curious now he focused on each in turn and an explanation popped up.
Templar
A holy warrior who uses the power of light to sustain a care for themselves and alies while fighting on the front lines in a conflict.
Knight
A martial warrior who focuses on their mastery of weapons and heavy armor to see them through any conflict
Crusader
A holy warrior who revolves around self sufficiency and personal buffs to become a walking fortress with a tower shield in one hand and two handed weapons in another
Elemental Mage
A master of the elements who is only limited by their understanding of the forces of nature and their iron will to bend them to their purpose
Cleric
An acolyte who pours all their effort into their allies in the form of buffs, healing, regeneration, and at the very pinnacle even resurrection
Monk
A martial artist who disdains the use of weapons and instead forges their own body into the ultimate killing machine
Blood mage
A mage who uses their own blood and that of their enemies as a catalyst to warp the corpses of their enemies to do their bidding
Swarm Summoner
A summoner who specialises in summoning endless amounts of weaker creatures to over run all opposition
Grand Summoner
A summoner who specialises in summoning massively powerful creatures to battle in their stead and eventually they may contract those even more powerful than them through the use of a blood contract.
Without a second thought he selected Grand Summoner and confirmed his selection. No matter their numbers the weak can never overcome the truly powerful. Not to mention that all the other classes he was offered required some form of support besides the crusader, and even though it seemed powerful at first glance he thought it was severely lacking if someone with that class had to fight against more than three opponents at once. It was simply to focused on strictly offence and defence and the mage classes didn’t have that problem.

In the end though he knew that there was no inherently most powerful class and it was all about the most suitable class. DING
Congratulations
You have chosen the class Grand Summoner and gained access to the novice tier of the Summoner tree.
Choose your path
Soul Binder- In every summon you put the mettle of your soul against that which you wish to summon. On this path all your mana shall be synchronized with your soul dimension and the size of your soul will directly relate to the number of summons you may have active at any one time while the quality of your soul determines the strongest creature you may summon.
Blood Contracter- You now draw blood from your own body and those near you summon creatures beyond your level but must be subdued before they will be fully loyal to you in combat.
Now he hesitated. From what he could understand Soul Binder was could be a make all or break all for him since as far as he new the soul was a completely unquantifiable existence that had yet to be proven to even exist and yet he would have to rely on it entirely if he were choose this path. Comparatively Blood Contractor could be definitively quantified and measured thus would be the infinitely safer bet. Like every other time he’d faced a life decision he knew would dictate the rest of his life he closed his eyes and listened intently to his gut instinct.
It had never led him wrong before and he doubted it would start now. Visualizing two paths stretching into the distance he made the left to represent the Blood Contracter and the right Soul Binder. He felt a tug to the right and selected then confirmed Soul Binder.
Please wait while the system reconfigures and quantifies your body, mind, and soul into the status screen and system parameters. Be warned this will hurt.
He immediately squeezed his eyes shut against the pain. It was like someone going through you body with a scalpel and microscope to see what was inside. The worst was his head and it felt like something tore it into shreds then put it back together. He collapsed to his knees as the pain left as suddenly as it had come. It had all only lasted a fraction of a second. As he gasped for breath another Ding sounded and he could help but flinch then widen his eyes as he read the screen.

“Dafuq is this?” he was lucky he was over on his own by the plane as he was able to avoid drawing eyes. I’m pretty fucking sure this is beyond abnormal. Try as he might he was totally lost on what this stuff would mean. He was by no means an avid game freak but fortunately for him most of his friends in the military were and from what he could piece together Soul Density and Mass had replaced Intelligence and wisdom but what the hell was with these crazy ass through the roof numbers. Depending on the game 1,000 in either one of them was something to brag about for years and now he like 80 times that.
Uh i didn’t mean to break the system. Was about the closest he could come to an answer. With a hiss like static electricity a barrage a Dings sounded and before he do anything a blue popped up.
Notifications have been condensed to most current format, and old have been deleted.
Um, strange but thanks i guess. Next five gong sounding tones tried to rattle his teeth and made him dizzy.

Soul Mass exceeds 6K
Your Soul is now a physical force that exceeds the limit of your body and can be formed into a soul weapon with weight equal in pounds to your mass. Be warned if a soul weapon breaks the repercussions will be grave.

You have exceeded the system's expectations for your race by 8,009%
As a reward the system will no longer allow you to suffer a loss when dealing with soul contracts and have been given the passive skill Instinctive summoning. This allows you to understand the art of summoning beyond words to the instinctive level.
Oh shit was his last thought as a wave of crippling agony raced through him a dozen times worse than before. He finally collapsed as darkness mercifully took hold.
