《A Girl's, Unusual Existence》* Chapter 14.3 – Son
Advertisement
A thin faced older gentleman with peppered hair appears in a small clearing. His younger burly companion is a broad featured man. The older man says, “Where is An?”
The younger companion quickly took on a servient attitude. A pale expression were clearly apparent. “But Patriarch Gao, the charm leads here. I can assure you the charm is incapable of failing! Please allow this unworthy servant a few moments to search.”
Patriarch Gao impatiently nods at the young clansman. The burly man quickly took out a talisman that glowed with a faint red light and closed his eyes. Within his mind, images and awareness of his surroundings became as clear as him being there personally despite the distance. From this, one can conclude that he is using his Spirit Sense which is only possible after reaching [Spirit] Realm cultivation.
A second later, he opened his eyes as he senses the direction of the aforementioned charm’s reaction. Not wasting time, he moved with uncanny speed and disappeared into the foliage to search for the reacting charm. However, the burly man regretfully returns with a bag and cautiously hands the bag to Patriarch Gao.
Patriarch Gao crossly takes the bag and reviews the contents of the holding bag. With a heavy heart, he recognizes the content of the bag but does not find a few of the more valuable items. Even the spatial ring and Rising Brilliance Sun Ruby were missing, but the box of the latter should have had a defensive formation that could burn the arms of any below [Spirit] Realm right off. Most importantly though, where is his son?
The burly hurriedly returns to continue his search. He pauses a short distance away as the charm in hand glows vibrantly. The burly man’s features twist in pain and anger as he turns towards Patriarch Gao.

Patriarch Gao roars as he rushes towards the spot. With a single crack of his fist, the ground cracks open to reveal a buried corpse. With trembling hands, Patriarch Gao fall to his knees as he reaches for the corpse of his son. He reaches to grab his son’s head but realizes in horror about the evident separation.
Tears of blood incessantly flowed down from his eyes, while fire erupts from his body and starts to incinerate the surrounding area into ashes. With the next second, Patriarch Gao unleashes an unearthly roar of anguish as flames and shock waves destroyed the surroundings, except his son’s grave.
The burly man barely escapes unscathed as he coughs up blood from the recoil of his Pratriach’s power. He flinches from the mild burns on his body and is desperately trying to settle down the disrupted blood flow and Qi circulation within his body. Trembling under the heat’s intensity, the burly man eventually calms his internal damage and hesitantly approaches.
“Patriarch, the evil doer must be related to the Kaur Family! Who else would have the audacity to attack the young master so blatantly,” The burly man stubbornly said. “They must have found out his whereabouts and attacked him when his guard was most down, ambushing him just after finding that treasure.”
Patriarch Gao clenches his fist until his palm begins to bleed. The flames died down, and the roar died down. Although the Patriarch seemed to have calmed down now, one can feel the pure blood lust and anger encompassing the surroundings.
“I understand your pain, Patriarch. I want vengeance right now as well, but we can’t afford to attract too much attention right now. We are trespassing on the Min Household’s lands, and those Kaur bastards will try to take advantage of the chaos.” Anger suffused the burly man’s voice as he reasoned with Patriarch Gao.

“We can’t let those bastards win. We must slaughter them all until we can find the Young Master’s killer, and we bestow punishment of the heavens.” The burly man had a look of indignation and anger as he spoke.
In a terribly dreadful voice, Patriarch vows, “As the Heavens are my witness, I will not rest until the culprit is found!” The clouds grumble ominously in the distance at his statement.
Patriarch Gao brusquely turns to the burly man and barks at him, “Li, send word to the Information House and inform that the Gao Clan is willing to pay 1 million Diamond Coins for the killer. And 5 million Diamond Coins to whoever brings back the killer alive.”
Li’s eyes widen at the astronomical reward but solemnly bows to Patriarch Gao before pulling out a sword from his spatial ring. Li quickly throws the sword into the air before it enlarged somewhat. Jumping onto the flying sword, he flies away with a sudden acceleration, and he is gone within a flash.
Ignoring this, Patriarch Gao summons forth an expensive-looking cloth and tenderly collects the remains of his son onto the fabric before wrapping the corpse. He then placed An’s body and belonging as he places them in his own dimension ring.
Patriarch Gao spreads his own [Spirit Sense], searching for clues, but not a single person is found within distance. With a wrathful sigh, Patriarch Gao flies off vengefully into the sky as the clouds gather darkly in the distance. A storm is approaching.

Sod's Law (Dropped)
This fiction has been dropped, you're more than welcome to read it anyway (there is sort of an ending). But you have been warned... Sod's law is a more extreme version of Murphy's law. While Murphy's law says that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong (eventually), Sod's law requires that it always goes wrong with the worst possible outcome. For example, concepts such as "bad fortune will be tailored to the individual" and "good fortune will occur in spite of the individual's actions" are sometimes given as examples of Sod's law in action. This would broaden Sod's law to a general sense of being "mocked by fate". In these aspects it is similar to some definitions of irony, particularly the irony of fate. - Definitions of Sod's Law on Wikipedia. The protagonist, as many before them, and many who followed, thought they were just entering a VRMMORPG (Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing-Game). Unbeknownst to them however, was a short paragraph in the Terms & Conditions, that, upon agreement, would actually transport them to a fantasy world, loosely based on the game they thought they were entering. - Something anyone could be forgiven for, no-one reads them after all. In this new world, they discover that people are born with “Traits”, a System recognised, ability, skill, or talent, that they are born with. Sod's Law was not a trait they, or anyone else for that matter, would want. Pure madness follows. Yup, this is about a character transferred to a fantasy game-world with the worst luck imaginable. This is my first fiction so I apologise for any grammar and spelling mistakes that may be made. Hopefully it is readable, and if so please tell me! But if it's not, also tell me, but in a constructive way if at all possible? Due to the nature of the “Trait” the story will be dark in places, with plenty of gore and profanity, hence the tags. There may also be scenes of a sexual nature, but nothing full on – sorry guys but you'll have to go elsewhere for that.
