《Sword Immortal's Rebirth》 Chapter 67: Perpetual (3)

“Ah, this is the second time I am hearing your zither after a ten million years, why don’t you play once more?” Extreme Yin Empress had a cajoling expression on her face as asked, while Nineorigin and Pure Yang Emperor furiously nodded.
“Didn’t I say this before, my Guqin is strung only when there is a occasion worth it. Next time when the Battle Emperor is reborn, and we brothers meet together once again, I’ll tune my Guqin for another song.” Heifeng Jiansui gently declined.
After realizing that Heifeng Jiansui’s words were firm, the four of them talked about various things. Heifeng Jiansui idly interjected once a while, with the bulk of the conversation being Nineorigin speaking with the two Perpetual Emperors.
“So you’ve established a top-level sect in a million years, putting all other sects and major forces under your thumb and directing the path of cultivation of the era? Not bad at all!” Pure Yang Emperor’s praising words caused Nineorigin to bow her head.
“It isn’t a big deal. During the beginning of the era, all life was thrown into confusion. Creating a super faction by giving them order wasn’t all that difficult.” Nineorigin replied calmly.
“Of course, a top-grade sect isn’t that much of a big deal! Even the battle maniac Jiansui here created a top-grade Quintessence Sword Sect by his own, and it reigned supreme for the entire previous era!” Laughing at his own words, the Pure Yang Emperor’s eyes were focused on the dazed awe in Nineorigin’s eyes, and could not see the freezing coldness with Heifeng Jiansui’s eyes.
“Hehe, back at that time, despite your acquaintance with the four Perpetual Emperors, you had thoroughly offended every major sect in the world by plundering all their scripture libraries. When you opened your Quintessence Sword Sect to the world, it would only be natural for all their techniques to be stored within. While taking open and aboveboard action against your sect was impossible, using cloak and dagger techniques to undermine your sect would only be natural. At that time you simplified your Quintessence Sword Codex and freely disseminated it across the Chaosworld, naming all those who cultivated it half a disciple of your sect… Within half a month, all the branches of your sect were chock-full and a Dimension Creation technique was used to set up space in your main hall!” As if it were his own accomplishment, Supreme Yang Emperor boasted of Heifeng Jiansui’s past achievements to the starry eyed Nineorigin.

“At that time, the Battle Emperor told me to pursue something lasting, so I decided to establish a sect. All I had was countless scriptures and manuals in the first place, something that sects required as a cornerstone. Battle Emperor cleared out the largest Ninelight Stellar Circuit for me, and I occupied 9 Great Worlds and set up 9 Great Halls. After exterminating some Sects and Empires for their resources, I set up the sect just like that… It isn’t that difficult.” Heifeng Jiansui’s words to Nineorigin seemed to be humble.
“Even back then, your Quintessence Sword could compare to our Supreme Yin-Yang Polarity Reversal… And you just went and publicized it to the entire Chaosworld… Even if it was simplified and only the foundations, the supreme arts collected by many Empires by shedding blood, tears and sweat cannot compare… And only you can speak so casually of ‘exterminating sects and Empires’. All those cloak and dagger actions to suppress you were forgotten when you took action, for those people remembered that you were the madman who exterminated the Five Sacred Demon Immortal Sect to the ground…” Saying this, the Pure Yang Emperor gently smiled at him.
“Now that you have returned, when are you planning to reform your Quintessence Sword Sect?” The Pure Yang Emperor’s casual words caused him to feel a stab within his heart.
“Let’s think about it… Nineorigin has tried hard to create and uplift her own sect and I don’’t want to interfere…” Heifeng Jiansui regretfully shook his head.
“Jiansui, I certainly don’t mind! Only a million years have passed, so this Era is quite weak. To bolster it, top-grade Sects should take root and bring the World to a new boundary! Not only you, I would like for even the two Perpetual Emperors to create factions of their own!” Nineorigin had a enthused expression on her face saying this.
“Haha, me and my wife are solitary wanderers, creating a sect is too much trouble…” The Pure Yang Emperor was immediately interrupted by Heifeng Jiansui.

“But they won’t mind sitting for a millennia or two as Sect Elders mooching off resources. Nineorigin, take them.” Hearing his words, she immediately offered a post to the two who accepted in consideration of their friend.
“While we don’t mind becoming elders and guiding a junior or two, you didn’t have to force it like this…” The Supreme Couple seemed to be a bit discontented.
“You guys are too lazy. The era and the laws of the Heavenly Dao have changed, so that means that your legacy cannot be handed off to juniors. If I don’t motivate you two to sit down and reconstruct it, you’ll end up with no inheritors this era.” With no response to his scolding, the subject was dropped.
“As for your sect…” As Nineorigin asked, Heifeng Jiansui immediately answered.
“I’ll think of it.”
After some more casual conversation, all topics were exhausted. It was time for them to part.

Leaving the two Perpetuals who stayed to safeguard their still forming Supreme World, Nineorigin and Heifeng Jiansui flew off.
“It’s been a while since I have met those two, and they haven’t changed. Meeting old friends…” Heifeng Jiansui shook his head as if to shake off something.
“The three of us and the Battle Emperor, we witnessed the end of an era. All of us died due to it, and had the good fortune of reincarnating. The countless lives that inhabited the thousands of Great Worlds… didn’t.” Heifeng Jiansui had a bitter expression as he said this.
“The ‘end of a era’ is a euphemism for a world-transcending genocide. After the previous era’s end, only the survivors who managed to evacuate to the 9 Supreme Worlds were the lucky ones. Even my Quintessence Sword Sect…” Heifeng Jiansui’s words could no longer conceal bitterness.
“My Quintessence Sword Sect reigned over the previous era. Unfortunately that era has passed.” There was a terrifying tranquility in Heifeng Jiansui’s words.
“However, it’s all gone now. That era, the Quintessence Sword Sect I established, the disciples… Xuewen Er and Quanji Xin, both of them are gone as well.”
Heifeng Jiansui’s tone was pure ice.
“Back then… it was the most popular sect, with billions of disciples all set on the Sword Dao. I nurtured it for millions of years, gathering tens of successors. When the calamity arrived, they stayed true to their Swordhearts, battling the calamity and fighting to evacuate the survivors to the 9 Great Worlds. Countless great worlds were eradicated, and my Sect turned to dust as well… Not a single one of the ten Immortal Kings or the 25 Perennial Lords thought of hiding away when the world weeped. And so, they all died.” Heifeng Jiansui’s cold tone as he recounted the end of his everlasting legacy seemed to chill even the oceans.
Hearing this, Nineorigin couldn’t speak through Heifeng Jiansui’s aura of freezing despair. However, she was forced to by his next words calling her name.
“Nineorigin… I want to request something of you. Take me to the Ninelight Stellar Circuit. Let me walk through the ruins of my proudest legacy.” Heifeng Jiansui’s cheek seemed to turn soft by the single tear that rolled down it.

My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe...
Xavier had a happy, humdrum life: normal friendships, a normal girlfriend, a somewhat oddball family. Until, that is, he literally stumbled through the fourth wall and discovered he was the protagonist of a manga. Now he's scrambling to maintain any semblance of control over his own life in the face of something he never imagined he would need to contend with: the power of the Genre. Hello, E.O. Tenkey here; thank you for your interest in "Not A Manga"! This was my first serial novel, and I hope you enjoy Xavier's predicament! Familiarity with manga not required (though it can't hurt)! I look forward to exploring the bounds of the Genre with you. (First volume is rated PG-13 for comic mayhem and light profanity—these are high school students, after all. Second volume is rated PG-13 to R for some violence and similar levels of profanity. Tags may or may not contain spoilers.)

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!
