《Greenskin》Chapter 23 - Mean n' Green

He felt it before he heard it. A roaring inferno cascading along his back, licking the hair along the back of his neck and setting it aflame. He could feel the heat through his armor and padding, roaring and burning the flesh of his back. The heat spread along his entire body as he grunted and groaned, raising his shield as Kor'Ak tried to escape the flames that came bursting in waves from the wyvern's maw.

Kor'Ak scowled as he managed to make his way out of the sweeping inferno. Odds are he wouldn't be standing if not for his Djaalic descent. His skin still burned like hell as he threw himself to the stones, rolling as his plate armour almost glowed with heat. Kor'Ak had just began to go for one of the healing potions at his side until he was cut off. The lumbering draconic monster charged itself forward, concussed, injured and confused, it was a creature that likely wanted to run as much as the goblin did, but unlike the goblin, who fought from an assumed will to live, the wyvern kept on moving because of pride.
The wyvern would rather accept it's death than it's defeat from a human, and two glorified mongrels. And so it charged, intent on rending Kor'Ak's armor apart with it's talons, gutting the man and dragging his entrails along the scorched earth.
The warrior scrambled out of the way, narrowly dodging the beast's body and talons, instead being battered back onto the ground by it's hefty wings, flapping about hastily in panic, fright and (literally) burning rage. The wyvern passed him, charging onwards, perhaps unable to stop itself, perhaps so desperate in it's death throws that it wished to kill anything before it fell.

Including a small, filthy green creature, caked in blood and ash that waved a spear in front of itself, knees bent low, eyes narrowed, mouth twisted into a snarl.
The tiny creature howled something unitelligible, whether they were primitive words meant for the Djaalic, or the Wyvern, Kor'Ak didn't know, but with the intensity they were screamed, and the spittle that erupted frim the goblin's mouth as it spoke those words, it was safe to assume it certainly wasn't a compliment.
"Krakka Roka Ya Ya Yi!!"
Steal screamed out at the charging wyvern, his legs shook, his brain hurt, and his heart pumped to the point he felt like his chest was vibrating. The rather crude spear (albeit forged with iron and bolts rather than twine and flint) was held tight in his hands. The goblin levelled the spear holding it just over his shoulder as his arm pulled back, then jerked forwards as the wyvern's gaping jaws were about to snap around the stout little creature.
He felt the wooden shaft slip from his hand as the wyvern's head snapped away from him, the spear seemingly lodged deep within the roof of it's massive mouth. The wyvern charged over the creature splintering an shattering the charred husk of a tree that it crashed into as it came to a halt.
Steal took this as an excellent opportunity to run away. There was no way in hell the diminutive monster wanted to be around this firebreathing behemoth longer than it had to. His padded feet tapped along the stones as he darted his way across the courtyard, keeping his distance from the iron-clad human that was now slowly picking himself up. His armour wasn't particularly shiny or dazzling. Something that he found himself valuing a little more than he healthy should. Tiny feet kept padding away on the cobbles, and just before Steal could reach what remained of the treeline, a roar that had become upsettingly familiar screamed out in defiance. A heavy thud, and then another, and another. Then a sound unfamiliar to the goblin.

The beating of wings.
Steal span around to see the 14-foot long creature begin to drop from the sky above him. In the few moments the goblin had to act, he realised there was now way he could escape the creature's entire plumetting wingspan and body. Instead, Steal found an answer in an object that was yet to fail him; prised from the hands of yet another satyr.
A pointy stick.
The monster's bulk cast a shadow over Steal as it dove towards him, he raised the spear, cowered behind it, and tried to stammer out a prayer to the odd being that Grak had introduced him to that very same day. The Lady.
The wyvern crashed into the ground, howling as Steal's upraised spear punctured it's soft belly. A gentle hissing sound escaped the wyvern, this time not from it's mouth. It came from the deep wound that Steal had made, accompanied by the occasional fountain of blood and gore. The goblin struggled to pull it's ankle free. It could barely stand the pain of just trying to run, nevermind get his broken ankle out from under the beast's monstrous mass. His leg came free and he sprinted away from the wyvern. It's reptillian head snapped towards him, mouth opening wide yet again.

KRAKOOOOM
There was no jet of flame, just a flaming inferno that engulfed the wyvern. The dancing flames quickly spread across the monster's wings, singing away the slender leather. For a moment, the wyvern's torso seemed to swell two-fold, before collapsing back to it's original size. It was unclear whether it was it's multiple wounds, ruptured organs, blood loss or inceneration that led to it's demise. But Steal's hopes came true as a window seemed to burst into his mind.
