《How to get lost: a wanderers guide》A fall, a dip, a fight, and a feast

Hello again! Today was kind of all over the place.
First of all, despite what you might hear, none of it was my fault. Except the last part.
Did you know nests are made mostly out of dried wood and grass? And did you know dry wood and grass is very burn-up-able?
All I wanted was to warm up Lena and Onica. Honest! We were really, really high up in the mountains and flying at high speeds. It was cold. Lena was shivering! How is it my fault that an errant spark caught the wind, and landed directly on a patch of grass?
*Fwoomph!*
The whole nest was on fire in a blink. The poor bird let out a mournful hoot before dropping the nest. Can't say I blame it. Its poor feathers were starting to burn.
We fell a long, long, long way.
So I had plenty of time to pull out the ole Ivers Dream and mold it into a set of makeshift wings. Inspired by our newest friend Mr. Bird. With a little boost from Fen and Julius we were aloft.
Then we crashed into a big perfectly round lake surrounded by mountains.
Small pines and larg rocks covered the beaches around the lake making for a beautiful but uncomfortable place to rest.
Julius and Lena had their Tyrant and Mirage out in a flash and were scudding along the perfectly smooth lake happily before I even managed to re mold the Ivers Dream. They were happily enjoying the opportunity to play.
Onica joined Lena aboard the Mirage and they toured the edges of the lake slowly. Enjoying the mountain views and the perfect calmness of the lake.
Julius and Fen crashed about the water on the Tyrant. Looked like Julius was showing off his awesome toy. Fen was suitably impressed.

Pretty quick Lena was making ice obstacles and Julius was piloting his ship through them. Sometimes smashing one into smithereens with a well placed fireball when he didn't have time to dodge it.
Fen flitted away from the contest, and settled on a boulder on the shore.
He, probably, was staring at the mountains around us. "I had heard tales of the majesty of mountains." He whispered in awe filled tones. "But the real things prove to be far and away all the more impressive." A subtle gust swiveled him on his boulder. "And this lake! Perfectly round, and perfectly still before we landed on it. A treasure of nature to be sure. If only I could trap this image and this moment in time and carry it with me always." He sighed at his impossible dreams.
He seemed pretty impressed with the place, to say the least.
I heard all this because I was seated on a nearby boulder, focusing on making goats out of the Ivers Dream.
Why?
Why not?
Who else will have a herd of firey red goats that follow their every command? Nobody, that's who!
Plus I like their little beards and the ways their horns curl. Mine are curved back and then up at the end. Making a recurved shape. I can make them toss fireballs around between them, and if I so choose the whole herd of 100 goats will lower their heads, ignite their horns, and charge.
Which is what I had them do when the dragon came out of the lake and tried to eat the Tyrant.
It didn't succeed of course. Tinglewood is some tough stuff. If we don't want it to move it just doesn't.
I only know it is a dragon because Onica insists that any thirty foot long creature with blue scales and clawed legs that breathes fire must be a dragon. I saw a picture of one in a book once. It had wings, If this is a dragon, then where are its wings?

Anyway, my herd swept onto the lake, steam skating and skidding along behind me as I led the charge at the suddenly toothsore beast. It cast a disparaging eye towards me and the Ivers Dream herd. Then it did something so stupid I laugh every time I remember it. It screwed its eyes tightly shut, and breathed fire over me and my herd of fireproof super goats.
When it finally opened its eyes I got a good look at a dumbfounded dragon since I was about a foot away. Then my tinglewood shepherds crook slammed into its skull right between it eyes, and with a *Grumphughk* it dropped back under the water. Or rather it tried to. My herd of super goats managed to trample it pretty damn badly before it finally managed to slip underwater.
Where Lena and Onica in a slither shaped Mirage were waiting for it. Blue wood and blue scales flashed wildly above the surface as the two long creatures tried to surround and constrict one another. Spikes of Ice and the occasional flash of blade punctuated the struggle as the girls tried to drown a dragon.
Sadly it proved too slippery and it swam for the shore in full retreat. Which is where Julius rammed into it with a vengeance.
The dragon left the water and cut a beautiful arc over the crystal clear liquid. Its mirror image perfectly tracing its rise and descent.
Until it slammed its head into a boulder on the shore. As the groggy dragon lifted its bruised head a gentle gust of wind carried a passenger into a soft landing atop its noggin. There, Fen finished the battered beast with a barrage of golden lightning.
So we had a feast tonight. Dragon is delicious!
Fen can kind of sort of eat. If you put food in front of him it will get picked up by the wind and small lightning bolts flash and fry it into ash. Fen says he tastes it. I think he is just trying to make us feel better for eating without him.
We had dragon kebab with a glowfruit sauce. Dragon steak wrapped in Wave Waker strips. Dragon roast cut into a thin roll and then rolled up with firemoss and golden cheese inside. And some wines and juices we got from Tara. So good!
Now we are sitting around the skeletized remains of the dragon with overstuffed tummys and I feel a food coma coming on. So I wrote todays journal entry before it hit and now I must bid you.
Goodnight.

Author's note: I love the idea of kingdom-building novels and think the genre has a lot to offer, but I don't think many authors do them very well. Here is my attempt. The novel has a strong focus on politics and kingdom building, with occasional action and a bit of humor. Have fun. Cover was made by MrZombie Updates three times a week.
