《From Beast to Man and Back Again》Ch.8 In the city

So this is the city that the old man is so proud of huh. I have to admit that it is much nicer than the town before it. The roads are stone and there is a proper sewage system, is what the old man says. Even though it's at least ten times the size of the town we entered before it still smells much better. The noise is more evenly distributed too, so I can use my top ears and let them get used to a lot if sound. The old man told me the reason it was so noisy in the town is because it was it's market day. That means more people than usual were packed into the marketplace, which we walked through the middle of. Stupid old man.
The carriage ride here was nice. I like the idea of letting someone else do the walking for me. The only problem with that is the loss of exercise. The old man would only stop the carriage twice a day! That isn't nearly enough time to train my body. Instead of training physically, I spent the time practicing controlling my secon- I mean my mana.
We move towards a huge building and yard surrounded by a gated fence. We stop at the gate. Why do we always have to stop at gates?
"This is the academy. The best in our world. My pride and joy. Many come from far and wide simply to bask in its glory, or to try their hand at achieving the honor of studying here."
"Old man, you need to get a life."
"I have one, right here."
I stay silent and look at him in disdain
"Well, I won't take you there for now. I showed it to you simply so you would know what it looks like. My house is in the forest behind the academy. We'll head over there now."

We walk to his house. There is a clear path to it and it sits in the center of a clearing. It's made of wood, has two stories, and is light blue and white. The old man puts his hand beside the door and uses his mana, but I'm not sure what he's doing exactly. The door swings open and he ushers me inside. When I enter I discover something shocking.
"Old man, your house doesn't smell bad at all!"
"Did you expect it to smell awful?"
"Yes!"
"Why!?"
"Because you live here."
"I don't smell that bad do I?"
"Old man you smell really weird. I don't even know what to think about it."
He stops to ponder on those words. As we were talking we moved to the sofa to the side in the room and sat down. He opens his mouth to speak again but is interrupted when the door is busted in.
"Old man I heard you were back!"
"We came to visit."
"Why did you break my door!?!"
A young man and women stand in the doorway. Hmm, does this mean that his name really is old man?

Deadlier of the Species - Book 2 of Descendants of a Dead Earth
(The second book in the Descendants of a Dead Earth series, taking place immediately after the events of A Tinker's Damn, which can be found here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/30309/a-tinkers-damn-book-1-of-descendants-of-a-dead) Deadlier of the Species turns its attention to Samara, of the Protean Clan. Recruited and trained by the clandestine Wetworks organization, Samara has left a long and bloody trail of bodies in her wake. But natural born killers are rare, rather they are created, molded by powerful entities to do their bidding in a shadow war where there are no borders, and everything comes with a price...including your soul. But now that she has been freed from her chains, Samara has a few old scores of her own to settle...and perhaps a new cause to fight for as well.

Sect Core
A peak cultivator is betrayed by his sect for being of common birth. The sect decides to not only kill him but transform him into a core, so they can use him for cultivation. But to get full control of all the sects formations, all of his energy has to be banned from the galaxy. In this manner, the main character is thrown into the rift in the middle of the galaxy. This rift transports him into another galaxy, where his journey to become the core of the most prominent sect begins. --- This is my first story, and the release schedule will be spotty in the beginning because I still have to do a lot of world building and thinking where the story should go. But I decided to put it out into the world to get some feedback so I can see what people think about it and maybe even get some inspiration. --- The cover image is not my own. I copied it from the internet. I thought it was cool and it suited the story. All rights reserved for the owner of the image.

Welcome to the Upward Bound System, V.3
They say third times the charm. With every iteration we improve. When the System came to Earth, it changed everything. It is a grand thing used by gods and men alike. What had once been fantasy was now a reality. People believed and so that belief gave ideas the strength to manifest. "Welcome Founder of the SCP Foundation" It stirred the gods from their deathly slumbers. Stirred by an almost mechanical voice promising them new life, and followers as countless as the stars. All it asked of them was for their help. Help with what though? The old gods, the forgotten gods, and the new gods drew breath, and then made their voices heard. On a day like any other Dante was home from college watching the Presidential inauguration with his parents. Little did they know that this day would turn out to be anything but ordinary. That this was the day everything changed. Dante is not your typical MC. While he has a troubled past, he looks forward to the future. Follow Dante, his parents, and the new friends he meets along the way as they traverse this new system world. However, before they can explore this new world they must complete, the Tutorial. (Please note: This tutorial will be part of the story. Rather than a skim of the information, you will get to experience it in depth. So the tutorial will last a good while.) A much slower style of LitRpg than what you would normally find. Follow Dante and his party as they find their world taken over by the system. Welcome people of Earth to the Upward Bound System!... With the system's arrival so too does great danger come... The tools of your survival shall be granted upon you by the system... Please note, I don't own the art. Please enjoy the story, and if you don't please leave a comment and I will try to improve the story for you. This is the second version of this story, so feel free to check out the original and compare the two.

Advent of the Mindfire Mage: A Challenger's Return Story
Updates MWF, 6PM EST! Not so long ago, a story was posted on Webnovel, one that fired my imagination unlike almost anything before or since. It was known as The Challenger's Return: Rebirth of the Rainbow Mage. However, 150 chapters in, the author NightWind, who I'd personally interacted with and begun to consider a true friend, vanished from the internet without a trace. And so, I have acted upon my fervent desire to pick up his torch, to refuse to let his world that stirred such passion in me die. Read below about my own take on The Challenger's Return. Was Lheticus summoned to the Tower by chance, or by choice? Either way, with the new power he wins, he won't hesitate to burn anyone who seeks to keep him from his true love to cinders, and with a unique ability of the highest potential, he may just succeed, but he's just as likely to burn himself down. And as it turns out, the latter case may be woven into his very destiny...can that destiny be changed? And if it is, what will be the repercussions for the Tower? (You may want to read a fair amount of the original Challenger's Return before starting this, as, particularly in the early chapters, many things that are laid out in it are glossed over in this story.)
