《This Kitty has guns》Chapter 51: A new friend?

"Even if I don't like Goddess of our world, you are gravely mistaken if you think I will help you to attack it!" I hissed through the teeth.
"Hmm?" he looked at me surprised. "First of all, my target isn't the world you came from..."
"But I thought... you are not in a league with Mardeal?"
"In league? That shrimp is attacking her world?... Ha ha ha ha. Serves her right, this is what happens when you allow others walk all over you." laughed the devil.
"No, your Goddess isn't on my list. She knew that just because I am bound to this world, doesn't mean there will be no retribution." devil looked at the army of golems and an evil smile appeared on his face.
"Some did try to claim worlds that were previously under my command. Greedy bastards forgot that I don't have to come personally."
I looked at the army as well, and even with enhanced sight, still couldn't see the end of it. My gaze was once again drawn to one of the Titans...
> Name: Edar Level: 100(MAX) Race: Spider Golem Colossus Gender: None Age: 2238 Class: Destroyer Subclass: None Health: 245.6M/245.6M Mana: 372.2M/372.3M Stamina: -/-
...just one of them should be more than enough to destroy kingdoms. I am surprised analyze even worked. I thought it will show only question marks, just like when I used it on the devil.
"Anyway, your role will be to lead those troops." said the devil while pointing at the army. "Sei will teach you everything there is to know about their capabilities..."
"What do you..." before I could finish, a strange creature appeared right before us.
It reminded a giant blue snake, with shark like head, four arms, and bat like wings on the back, though their size was too small to allow flight. Its full body length was over ten meters long, but at current posture, with the tail coiled on the ground, was only two meters tall.
It had a strange cylindrical armor on its upper body, almost glowing from enchantments to my eye.
I had to use my own hair to create clothes, just so I have something that does not turn into a stone, but its armor was obviously made of metal, judging from my metal manipulation a mix of mithril, aluminum, and something I don't recognize, yet there was no sign of it turning into a stone... enchantments?
The creature was probably Sei the devil has mentioned.
I don't know of any species matching its appearance, neither in the previous world, nor in this. At least I haven't seen any statue there that looked alike, nor anyone in visions the devil has shown. Someone from yet another world?
For a moment it was confused, it was obvious it appeared here not on its own accord. But that lasted less than a second.
"Serali nae? Kudee aderus sarkel dai." the creature started talking to the devil.
Judging from the voice it was probably a female. The language she used was completely unknown to me, and I had no idea what she just said.
Both I and the devil looked almost identical, yet the creature recognized him immediately. I doubt it's his gender that gave him away. Most likely because of aura, no one could match the devil in this feeling of dread. Although now that I think about it, when we 'fought' earlier, I couldn't sense a thing.
When the creature talked to the devil, a few times her gaze wandered to me. With the head of a monster, it was hard to judge her expression, but I think she was very interested in me, 'I wonder if she is tasty' kind of interested.

"Serali nae. Dera rae helaca eri abe zi soma Mel." answered her the devil.
"Zel." nodded Sei and then looked at me with all four hands crossed over her 'chest'. Only armor and human-like arms let difference it from the rest of her body.
"Hmm, before I send you two, you should learn the language..." said the devil while looking at me.
Thousands of glowing words appeared in the air all around me, many foreign words next to those I knew. I realized this was a dictionary, the devil has already started teaching the language...
Sei also looked at the words in the air, but quickly lost the interest. Not that I looked at them long either, with my enhanced mind, just one glance was enough to memorize them all.
Before sending us?
"I am not your servant nor your possession!" I quickly objected.
"You are not?" he smiled in response.
"No!" I said angrily. "I might be weaker than you at the moment, but I don't age and learn fast. Eventually, I will become strong enough to fight even against you. Do you really want me to hold grudge against you? You might find it troublesome..." I started to speak.
"Troublesome?!" interrupted me the devil. "Ha ha ha ha. On the contrary. I can't wait for it to happen. I can't leave this place, and can only dream about a decent fight. Neither gods nor devils will visit me anytime soon. A fight without holding back... now that's a thing to look for. What could be better than this?!" said the devil with a longing expression.
Great.
I was hoping to use this argument as my ticket home. How the hell I escape? The amount of mana needed to teleport back is enormous, and without dungeon boost, it will take very, very long to get that much. Even then, he could probably get me back in a moment. Even space time enchantments of the cell couldn't stop him...
"Why me? Your armies could easily destroy kingdoms on their own. You don't need me." I still tried to find a way out.
"They are quite... suicidal. While they are forced to obey, this doesn't prevent them from doing that with the highest chance of their death. Is it really that bad being a golem? Anyway, someone has to lead them. Besides, Sei with Razel nagged me for a long time to get them a new friend..."
Razel? Someone like Sei? When I looked at her our eyes met.
"Can't... believe... Dahaal... actually found... someone." I heard her mutter in her language.
At first, it sounded like gibberish, I had to replay it in my mind a few times, for it to make sense. Even if I now knew most of the words, that didn't include rules of grammar. The same word might sound different depending on where and how it is used.
Dahaal? Is this the name of the devil?
I have already used analyze on Sei a few times, but it wasn't working, probably some skill of hers. I activated it one last time and she grinned at me, suddenly a window popped up before me.
> Name: Seiredapilirausinercue Level: 100(MAX) Race: Demon Gender: Male Age: 1639 Class: Shaman Subclass: Arcana Alchemist, Arcana Blacksmith, Grand Enchanter, Arcana Songster, Master Cook, Skinner Health: 645080/645080 Mana: 0.7M/1.1M Stamina: 631281/654172
Ok. It seems I made a mistake. Sei was a guy!
I know I shouldn't assume gender just from a voice, but his body had nothing else that could help me indicate it. What kind of voice women of his race have then?

Sei wasn't even his real name, a nickname as far as I could tell. Although just one more look at his status, and I knew that I will never bother to pronounce his real.
For someone with level 100, his health and mana were way too high. I would never reach these heights by only leveling up... not until I reached something like level thousand. It might be possible to slightly close the gap with my body manipulation, but even then I would need to get my hands on some extraordinary samples of DNA... Does he have something like body manipulation as well?
"There, with this, the language shouldn't be a problem..." said Dahaal.
Words in the air changed, this time explaining how I should use them. Normally no one could learn this fast with just that, even if their life depended on it, but somehow Devil knew what I can with a single glance.
"Done?" he asked in a new language, when I nodded he continued. "Then it's time to learn about golems. Sei will be your teacher and..."
"Wait a second. I haven't agreed to serve you. My world is in danger, and just like you wanted to save your world, I want to save my." I tried again, I felt that shortly I might be sent away, and there would be no other chance.
I was now speaking in the new language. it was a bit uncomfortable, and I had a terrible accent, but if I heard others speaking it a bit longer, I should get used to it shortly.
"Hmm... Fine. You will earn your freedom after serving me... let's say for a hundred years."
"What?! This is unreasonable! By then it will be too late!" I shouted frustrated.
"Oh, come on, it's way better than a freedom upon death," he said while looking at the army of golems. "Besides, I am a devil. Being unreasonable is a part of my charm... Hmm, how about a duel with me then? Don't worry, you don't even need to win. All you have to do is reduce my health by a single point."
With a grin, he quickly added. "If you lose, however, your time in my services will only increase."
Hmm. I am fully aware that I am no match for him, but... if it's only to reduce his health by one point, there might be a chance. Even when I perfectly block an attack, depending from the power used, the body still receives a slight damage, it might be almost nonexistent, and regeneration takes care of that in a blink, but it's there. There is also an option for a wide area attack, like a wave of destruction for example...
"Fine!" I said entering battle stance "Let's..."
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." suddenly said Sei.
"What other choice do I have?!" I said in his language.
"A freedom eventually," he answered. "You haven't even asked by how long your services would increase. You should also know that there is nothing in this world that can harm him. Even if a meteor hit him directly, it would be still your loss..."
"Oh, come on, was it necessary to ruin it?" devil complained while looking at Sei.
"I am not Razel, I am still mad at her for encouraging me to accept your offer back then. She fully knew yet..." started talking Sei.
A direct hit of a meteor?... Does it mean he is immune to physical attacks? Now that I think of it, with my resistance to heat, I am almost immune to fire, what if his resistance is at maximum... to everything. No, he is a devil, there should be no 'if'.
"That's... that's cheating!" I shouted when realized there was never a chance for me to win.
"Well, I am a devil..." he grinned and then after looking at Sei added. "Besides, it's very funny to watch the reaction when realization draws after decades of trying.
Sei grinned as well, exposing a set of sharp teeth.
Devil then looked back at me. "Fine, if you serve me well for a year, I will let you have... hmm, a short vacation, it will still be not too late to deal with your problems. A decade would be enough, no? Off you go now, there are golems to be made, souls to be collected. Just imagine how those with petrifying gaze feel at the moment, they activate their skill and nothing happens. Mind you, they wouldn't use it if their life wasn't in danger..."
A year?!
"Wait!" I quickly shouted, but the space around me distorted. "There is no... dammit!"
Both I and Sei were now in a different world. A blue sun in the sky, clouds, a forest far in the distance, plants under my feet. Everything... alive.
"Where are we?" I asked while looking around and my gaze was drawn to a battle.
"A world called Ira. It's ruled by a god Udandmor, this is the second world of his we are attacking," answered Sei while also looking at the battle.
A distance away from us, two armies were fighting on the field. One of them consisted of golems only. There was nearly three thousands of them, a tiny squad if compared to the army the devil has shown, and not a single destroyer class golem in sight. Two, twenty meters tall golems, were the largest in the group. Yet even smallest golem was taller than any opponent.
Their opponent was an army of nearly eleven thousands of strange creatures, just a bit smaller than an elephant. They reminded me a bit of beetle, with a few extra limbs at their sides used as arms. Some of them held large spears, with glowing spearheads, others wielded strange massive swords with moving parts, not even sure if it's proper to call them as swords. With those moving parts, they function more like chainsaws.
While their weapons looked dangerous, they were useless against golems.
Golems were easily killing beetle creatures in front of them, though they paid no attention to those who actually managed to harm them - mages. Each time they were hit by a spell, runes would glow on their body and most of the damage was negated. When some did manage to damage them, a few second later it would be repaired with another glow of their runes.
Those defense enchantments were superb, though if this was a creation of the devil, not that surprising. In that case, it was actually weird there were some golems that actually lost.
"Wait. We are the ones that invade? Doesn't he want to reclaim his own worlds first?" I turned my head to Sei.
"Reclaim? It was done a long time ago. I actually wasn't even born at that time, and I think even Razel participated only at the end. Dahaal is of opinion that any grievance must be repaid tenfold, what we do now is a punishment to teach the gods a lesson for their attempt to seize his property."
All this time a massive ball of energy was forming at the back of beetle army, when Sei stopped talking it was finished, and slowly started to move forward. One doesn't need to be genius to realize it was something similar to a fusion spell, though I could feel it wasn't done with just two mages, four, no, five of them?
There was never more than a few people capable to do this in my world.
Despite its power, the spell wasn't moving very fast and it was possible to avoid it, but none of the golems did that. On the contrary, it looked as if they wanted to be as close as possible where it hits.
'They are quite... suicidal' words of Dahaal echoed in my mind as I looked at them.
After the ball has reached the middle of their army, a large explosion swallowed them all and even some troops of beetle creatures were sent flying.
When the dust has settled, I saw that only a dozen of the golems were actually destroyed. The rest withstood it just fine. There were many cracks on their bodies, but shortly runes on their bodies started to glow and in a moment they were as good as new.
"If you don't give them specific commands, golems will seek every opportunity to die. This is the only way they can earn their freedom. I sometimes allow them to do so, but one should never go overboard. We are in a hostile territory, without sufficient force you might put yourself in danger. Well, I guess it's time to finish this." Sei then deeply inhaled and shouted at the golems.
"Group Rei, charge at their mages, ignore everything else!" his feminine voice echoed far and wide.
A part of golems separated from the rest and started to advance forward, trampling anyone in their way under their feet. Just with this, the battle was decided. Their mages were the only ones who could do at least some damage, but now it was only a matter of time before they are dealt with. None of their warriors could stop the advance of this group.
I stopped paying attention to the battle, while thinking what to do.
A year...
I can't wait this long! I... I have to escape!
If it was only for a month or two, I might have accepted, but a year... Hmm, I still haven't claimed my reward from Agama, maybe that spirit of knowledge can help me to hide from the devil? Even if Dahaal brought me back, I don't think he would kill me. I also doubt that with my current level of soul awakening it's possible to trap my soul inside a golem.
I started to earnestly gather and store mana in my pocket dimension. But it was too slow. After checking my link with the dungeon, I realized that now I need even more mana to get back. I activated my devour soul and even heat absorption to increase the speed of mana absorption. Very quickly the ground around me was covered in ice.
Yet it was still too slow. At this rate, it might take a month.
I wonder how long till I am ordered to participate in battles...

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
