《Supreme Truth of Chaos》Chapter 102: Preparations

"There is no real poison," Night said in response to the question, "The threat is biological...a biological agent that is very deadly to demons."
There were whispers throughout the group of demons. They didn't really seem to understand what Night was saying. They probably didn't know what he was talking about.....the demons weren't that scientific of a community. Night decided to get try telling it as a story.
"The portals between worlds limit what can be brought over to Nibiru from Earth. Complicated electrical and mechanical items cannot be brought over because they will get messed up during the portal transport. That's why you don't see complex weapons being brought over from Earth. Simple mechanical devices can be brought over, but that's about it. But there seems to be no restriction on biological life," Night was only giving an introduction and realized that he was already losing a few people.
"Based on what I know, the Diego Family found that a bacterium that grows on a particular flower on Earth....that bacterium produces a reaction when exposed to demons..... and it is a fatal reaction. That flower just so happens to grow in the Diego Family's Earth territory too...an Amazon water lily....and they brought massive amounts of that flower here from Earth," Night said to a group that still seemed to have trouble taking in the information.
A man from the stood up and called out, "That sounds like a load of bullshit. How can just one flower kill so many people? Where did you get that information from?"
Night was at a loss. He could tell by the man's robes that he was from the Phene Clan....the clan that specialized in healing and poisons. But, the flower didn't really have anything to do with it. It was a bacteria that grew on the cut flowers that was the culprit. The Diego Family had basically found something that functioned like anthrax on demons....these demons didn't know shit about bacteria....it is not like they had scientific labs looking at stuff with microscopes in this world... Night needed to dumb it down to make it believable....how the fuck was he going to do that?
"I....I interrogated a mercenary that had once been responsible for delivering a load of flowers to an oasis for processing. The mercenaries were told that the flowers originated from Earth and needed special care. Although it was odd, I wouldn't have thought anything special about this information usually," Night said giving the group his account, "However.....the mercenary said when he arrived at the oasis....the group was actually able to see a test that was performed on a captive demon," Night said giving the group his account.
"Based on what the mercenary had seen, the powdered flowers were exposed in two different ways during the test. Skin contact would bring a rash and a sort of allergic reaction that made the body swell. It wasn't necessarily deadly in this way...just really tormenting to the demon infected. The main issue is when the flower dust was breathed in...the demon died almost instantly. From the sound of it, they were working with explosives to make an aerosol of sorts for the bacterium to become airborne and spread easily. That's all I know. I didn't get any information that said they used it specifically on the City of Southern Wind.....but anyone with half a brain can connect the dots," Night finished up.
"Well.....I still don't believe it. Maybe you are just working with the Diego Family," the Phene Clan man said.

The comment pissed Night off.
"What don't you believe? The Diego Family brought something from Earth that kills demons instantly.....what else is there to believe, you fucking idiot? Are you an expert that understands everything about Earth plants? Do I need to go steal one so you can take a breath and test it out? I'll go hunt some down right now and cram it down your fucking throat," Night said threateningly to the man.
He had lost his cool....not because his loyalty was questioned.....but because the man was trying to say he was a part of the Diego Family. He hated the Diego Family with his very being. The light in the chamber was dimming without Night even realizing it.
"Alright. Calm down, Night," Roth Dreamwalker said looking around, "Is that all you have concerning the poison?"
"Ya," Night said not worrying about trying to explain that it wasn't exactly a poison again. It was going to be poison because these idiots couldn't understand shit.
"But everyone needs to focus on one thing I said. The bac....poison.....needs to be inhaled to be deadly to demons. You should all be fine as long as you don't breath it in....and protect your skin to keep from getting a really bad rash," Night stressed with a little bit of anger still in his voice.
"I also think the poison is how they are testing for demons," Night followed up. A drop of blood is probably mixed with the poison to see if there is a reaction.....if there a reaction then the person isn't a demon. Easy enough," Night said, "and they could just touch something to everyone's skin entering the city as a quick check."
He had come to that conclusion when he had gone through the process of leaving and rentering Nazca City. The gate guards usually just dabbed a little dusty sponge on the backs of peoples' hands as a test. And if there was an even slight uncertainty...the guards would pull the person to the side and get a bit of blood to mix with something for a test. Night had made a few assumptions about what was actually going on.....but he felt that he was probably a hundred percent right.
After Night answered a few hours worth of questions, the meeting was closed and everyone was dismissed. Several people involved in the intel meeting were already setting up other meetings to go over the information. Night wasn't was a fan of meetings so he conveniently bailed as soon as he had the opportunity.
Before he could disappear, Roth pulled Night to the side. He was told to follow up in a few days to help clarify any other questions that may come up. Other than the commitment to answer questions, he really didn't have any obligations and was just waiting until the path forward was determined. For now, Night could relax and start getting himself prepared for the upcoming conflict.
______________________________
The next day, Night spent most of his time wandering around the City of Setting Sun. Since he had had no distractions while he was living alone at the inn, Night had made a few preparation plans of his own. If he was going to be going to war, Night wanted to increase his strength as much as possible.
Over his journey from Manco Oasis to the City of Setting Sun, Night had a long time to ponder over his strengths and weaknesses. While he could handle himself just fine if he had planned and could take advantage of his strengths......he didn't really have a lot of insurances if he were to encounter a stronger power or an unexpected attack. In consideration of his current power, Night decided to prioritize several things.....Mostly upgrading his equipment, increasing his own strength, and preparing for the unknown.

His first order of business was to get his equipment upgraded....and even purchase some equipment that he never owned before. He had enough valuables now that he could buy the best of the best, but he knew these things would take the longest time to prepare. Night wanted to purchase some sort of armor. Nothing big and bulky that a typical soldier would wear, but something light and durable that would be good for stealth. For the armor and weapons upgrades, Night had visited a few separate blacksmiths earlier to place orders for the armor and a few extra sets of daggers.
After he finished up with the blacksmiths, Night shifted his attention to get some item enhancements.
Night wanted to enhance the matching set of five short swords that he had found at Piedra Oasis. He really liked the high-quality set of swords, but he didn't really have a use for them himself. However, a particular idea crossed his mind when dealing with the three new Keres. The three women had been gladiators and were very dependant on weapons. Misery and Grief had always just fought barehanded or used whatever weapon they picked up from the fight. But Distress, Gloom, Sorrow, and Despair had all wanted their own weapons. Night had needed a place to keep the new bloodstones anyway, so he figured why not affix them to the handle of each of the short swords.
Once Night arrived at the jewelsmith, he had also put forth another request. He wanted to get his current gauntlets and daggers upgraded to have some darkness stones on them. Anything that he could do to increase his strength....he wanted. And with the riches he gathered at Piedra Oasis, Night could practically do anything at this point.
The jewelsmith was happy to take Night's order....and a few handfuls of high-quality gems. So Night walked out of the place without his usual equipment. Night currently had no equipment, no gauntlets and no daggers. He felt a little naked without his trusted items, but he still had a few weapons stored in his storage rings. Those could give him a bit of protection until he got his trusted items back.
______________________________________
Over the next couple of days, Night had gone around gathering supplies and shopping at all the supply shops, auction houses, and markets. He bought and traded for numerous items that were added to his storage rings. However, he quickly realized that one key item was missing.
Night had decided that he had too many rings on his fingers and needed something more appropriate for his needs. After searching most of the city, Night had spent a considerable amount of money purchasing a significantly high-quality space ring for his finger. The one space ring had more storage space than his other 8 rings combined. Although it had cost him quite a lot, Night was happy with the acquisition.
Because he worried about losing the ring, Night also purchased a few 'covert' type space items, like special buttons for his shirt, that he could have as backup storage with emergency supplies. He was really the type of guy that would fall for all the gimmicky and novelty type items. Especially, one special item that he purchased from an oddball street vendor....a space stone tooth. The stone was made to fit perfectly in the spot of a missing tooth in the back of Night's mouth. If for some reason Night was ever stripped of all his belongings, he knew that at least he could have a secret stash that no one would expect.
____________________________
With a few weeks of waiting on his equipment, Night had also started the regrowth of his two missing fingers. The move was both aesthetic and practical. Night had found out on a few occasions that the grip on his knife wasn't as sturdy in the hand with the missing fingers. He wanted to increase his strength with his knives.....and for that....he needed all of his fingers.
Night had originally sought out some healers to see if he could get both his eye and fingers back. All of the healers said that they couldn't help with the eye, but one healer had agreed to help heal his fingers. The old man had said that the treatment would need numerous visits and was painful. However, after the first visit, the old healer had told Night that his treatment wasn't needed at all. Night could do it himself because of his Body of Recovery skill.
Essentially, the method for regrowing the fingers was to cut off the healed flesh at the end of the finger and focus on growing the finger with his healing abilities. Each time this process was completed a millimeter of Night's finger would grow back. So essentially, Night would have to reopen the wound on each finger around 30 times in order to get them to grow back. The process was painful, but Night had actually sat down with the old man and completed the entire process in one sitting. He had all his fingers again.
Although the old man had been blown away by his ability, Night had completely slacked off on his body skills......and the body skills could offer him a quick boost in strength.
With that realization, Night finally decided to hunt down methods of training the other body skills. If he could manage to cultivate his body to the point that he was a Demigod int the Truth of the Body.....well, he wouldn't have to worry about typical physical harm for the most part. From his time on Earth, Night had studied three of the body skills but only succeeded in the Body of Recovery and Body of Strength.
While he had been trapped in the Manco Oasis mines, Night had fully understood the Body of Defense but never trained it to completion because he lacked resources at the time. Now, he had all the resources that he needed to complete the skill. With that in mind, Night had completed the Body of Defense skill one night in his room in the inn. The Body of Defense process was pretty basic and was just incorporation of heavenly energy into his skin. While the finished product didn't offer him much protection, Night would be slightly harder to cut with basic weapons.
Since coming to Nibiru, Night hadn't really strayed much outside of the Limim Clan libraries for information. To completely master the body cultivation set, he would need to find methods to cultivate the Bodies of Storage, Endurance, and Agility......and well, the Limim Clan was more worried about emotions then body skills.
Night didn't think he could find the human training manuals in a demon city.....but he knew for sure that he could probably find some demon assistance. The body skills of endurance and agility should be easy to find since they were pretty standard attributes. However, the storage skill might be a bit difficult. Night really couldn't find many details on that one back on Earth....really just the name...and even that was vague.
However, that wasn't Night's current problem.....his problem was that the best body cultivators in the City of Setting Sun were the Kimaris Clan.....and he had brutally killed one of their young promising stars when he had first gotten to the City....now he needed to get them to help him learn his missing body skills.
