“Brother Mingwei, do you have some time?” An outer disciple asked. Mingwei recognised her as one of the newer outer disciples, from the 389th batch, so she must have recently just made it to 3-star.

“Yes?” Mingwei just bowed.

“I heard from Elder Sister Yangmei that you offer a kind of alchemy service.”

“Oh. Yes.”

“Do you make combat pills?” The disciple asked, and Mingwei paused for a moment. He was familiar with the term, combat pills. Back home, this meant pills that were used in combat, such as the Healing Psalm Pills, which restored Qi and Core Toughness. But, there’s a time lag. Mingwei vaguely recalled the combat pills were slightly different, but he had yet to fully study the differences.

Mingwei bowed. “I’m afraid I have yet to fully study the intricacies of combat pills.”

“Ah.” The girl shook her head. “It’s fine then.”

As she stepped away, Mingwei went back to see Elder Qing.

“Ah, how’s your trip to Northstar City?”

“It was fine.” Mingwei didn’t want to dwell on it. “One of the newer outer disciples asked for my assistance on combat pills. Would you have some books or tomes on that?”

Elder Qing nodded. “Ah. Sure.” She handed a white tome to Mingwei, on it, [The Tome of Basic Combat Pills].

Mingwei spent an entire night reading it, and he once again, was amazed by this world’s methods.

In the old world, the Healing Psalm Pills and their variants have a lag of 1 to 3 moves. That meant, the pills’ restoration effects were spread out over a period of time, and not instant. In this world, the manufacturing process focused on quick output, which reduced it’s overall restoration effect, but traded it for immediate impact. That meant, a 3-star Healing Psalm Pill from his old world would restore 6,000 Qi in 2 moves, and 50,000 Core Toughness in 2 moves. This world has instant Qi Storage restoration and instant core toughness recovery, but the strength of the pill is reduced by at least half.

Clearly, a difference in philosophy. One insists on speed and immediate outputs, another, one overall efficiency.

He went back to Elder Qing the next day, and asked for some manuals on how to actually make the Combat Pills.
